1. Representative Taylor was not drunk
David ,   On this planet   (11.05.11)
When that phrase came out of his mouth. Those are words said in his household by his father or grandfather, can you imagine what else was said growing up in his house. Personally I do not accept his apology unless he does more than apologize, like having a good talk with his children before they repeat those same words in school, hopefully they did not use them yet
2. So ,...
split ,   US   (11.05.11)
After you made him to apologise he and his constituants are going to start loveing you? ,...

5. jew them down
Dennis ,   Nj   (11.05.11)
C'mon. Give the goy a break. I'm sure he meant "chew" them down! This is ingrained in his mothers milk. Iveheard this from some pretty educated people throughout the years. It's alms as offensive as the term " white trash" is to blacks... Part of living in the Gola....
6. Probably a bad term?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.05.11)
Yes. It was. He should resign, or be removed from office. Were an American lawmaker today to use the despicable "n" word, he would be forced to resign. Are the Jews children of a lesser G-d? No. We are not.
7. Moron!
Rob ,   US   (11.05.11)

Mordechai HaYehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.05.11)
13. Damage control needed. Step down now!
Efroim ,   Virginia   (11.05.11)
This is why the jews never really trusted the Republicans. There is the evidence. Democrats on the other hand are no better. Best he step down as to control further damage to the Republican party
14. to #3 (Lippy)
Ori ,   Philadelphia   (11.05.11)
what a stupid comment you made. One man makes a dumb statement and that should take away votes from his entire party? Instead, why don't you look at what is really going on in American politics and realize that the Republican party supports Israel MUCH stronger than their counterparts do. If you really are a proud Israeli, than you should be utterly more offended by President Obama who vilifies Israel for building apartments instead of focusing on palestinian terrorists and the refusal of even so called "moderate" palestinians to recognize that we Israeli's have a right to exist!
15. To: No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.05.11)
If you are going to live in the United States -- a disgusting possibility at best -- don't you think you should learn English grammar, usage and -- most importantly -- spelling?
16. #10 Salami - I thought you knew everything
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (11.05.11)
It is similar to calling an Arab a Sand Flea or Camel Jockey or better yet, a believer in Democracy
17. Why Are You Shocked?
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.05.11)
It's part of the lexicon. It has been the observation of the Goyim for generations that Jewish (I'm being polite) people have a tendency to be shrewd businessmen. You know, buy low and sell high? And is it not a tenant of your Talmud that it is righteous to cheat the Goyim? Be honest with yourselves. If the shoe fits, wear it. But please. Quit with the faux indignation. We Goys are sick and tired of hearing it.
18. LEAVE IT ALONE
Brant ,   Hilton Head USA   (11.05.11)
People like Mr. Taylor are not Jew haters or anti-Semites because they use stupid phrases like Jew them down. People like Mr. Taylor were never educated to learn that all over Europe, in the Middle Ages, Jews were forced to be the money lenders by their majority masters; In fact, Christians were not permitted to be the lenders. Charging interest made them "usurers" in some Gentile eyes. Jews were also confined in both Europe and some of the MidEast, through a great partt of history to the merchant trades and they bargained at bazaars and markets as EVERYONE does at those places. Some ancestors of some people like Mr. taylor learned "JEW" someone down as a verb that meant get a lower price. It's much more important to help Mr. Taylor realize why his choice of words is offensive than to assume he's an anti-Semite. Salma, if you TRULY want to know and aren't just doing another one of your usual Jew-baiting things, here it is: Think of a market in Bethlehema and think of all the Palestinians bargaining with each other and working on a merchant to lower his price. Then 1 million foreigners come to the marke from, say, Sweden and all start shouting "Arab him down"! It can be offensive, Salma,. That's all
19. Im such an idiot person & ignorant
salma ,   palestine   (11.05.11)
I don't know much about jews. I get my education from news paper
20. I have heard this phrase
Mattan ,   merritt island, usa   (11.05.11)
many times in America, and it offends me each time I hear it. To disregard the sensitivites of a people, does in fact make you racist towards those people, no matter how widely such a phrase is used. Such use of language, even with an apology after, shows this politicians lack of intelligence, and that he is in fact white trash. Welcome to America, my country, over run by trash. We ne
21. Rep. Taylor
NYC Girl   (11.05.11)
While the phrase "Jew them down" is a racist stereotype, I would want to know more about Rep. Taylor before calling for his head. The other thing is why is the ADL being described as a pro-Israel organization, when Taylor's comment doesn't have a damned thing to do with Israel? The ADL is a civil rights organization which isn't exclusively limited to dealing with bigotry against Jews.
22. Freedom of expression is not anti-Semitic...
Mark Wilson ,   U.S.A   (11.05.11)
23. Taylor
Ronny   (11.05.11)
I feel ashame for this crap representative. The grand old party should throw him out immediately.
24. Why are you shocked?
shalom ,   the world   (11.05.11)
To the World Citizen, the World who hides behind this label. Your statement is offensive. You adopt and justify anti-semitic stereotypes and then complete the offence by adding the politically correct outrage at being called an anti-semite. To even mention the Talmud is a further insult and I suspect you do not even know what is the Talmud, other than in reading anti-semitic statements which purport to come from the Talmud. Your example is fatuous and abusive. You are guilty of racism and an antisemite, so in your words, "wear it", for we Jews are fed up with having to hear and read offensive and libellous nonesense, pernicious nonesense at that. Thus, in your words, if the shoe fits, ie you are an antisemite, wear it.
25. Wisdom v Intelligence
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (11.05.11)
Wise people avoid getting into trouble. An intelligent person may get into trouble but knows how to get out of it quickly....
26. Many similar racist expressions are widely used in Israel
David, Jerusalem   (11.05.11)
Against Russians: Israelis tell this joke often: "Why is Russia very clean now? Because they threw all the rubbish to Israel(directed against Russian immigrants). Against Kurds: When someone does a very stupid thing, Israelies say "You have to be a Kurd to do that." Against Turks: "Kill the Turk and rest." There are many more. It is high time that ADL starts detecting and condemning racism committed by Jews in Israel.
27. Well, in truth, a rather common phrase in the US
Cameron ,   USA   (11.05.11)
I've heard that bit thrown out now & again for many years everywhere in the country. Not exactly something new on the scene.
28. #10, I think it means...
Rind   (11.05.11)
...To get a lower price out of someone, in a "cheap" way. A typical stereotype in America.
29. #17
Ben ,   Chutzlaartz   (11.05.11)
While I do forgive Rep. Taylor as you are correct that the expression is part of the lexicon and he likely uttered it with no anti-Semitic intent. It's origins are definitely anti-Jewish, you on the other hand are a hateful robe wearer and I am unsure why you troll an Israeli web site. There are thousands of colloquial expressions, many with origins that could be considered hateful to Jews, Blacks, Italians and others, and though that is not a carte-blanche excuse to use them, those who say them are not neccessarily hateful, and may have no idea where the expression came from. I take the rep at his word.
30. Regrets
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (11.05.11)
As a former resident of the Superiou state of Texas, I am probably going to regret my comment about State Representative Taylor being a "flamer" AND a "figurative putz" of John Holmesian proportions. On second thought, maybe not so much. I was just trying to "Jew him UP".
