31. So consensual
boq ,   kfar saba, israel   (11.05.11)
This is nice writing, just a little angelic. Seems like Yair Lapid is set up to follow his father's career: a journalist going prime-time, and then political. But in order to lead us one day, and the idea quite seduces me, you need to tell us whether you are left or right, and not just telling us that this is a wonderful country with left and right. This you will say when you are Prime Minister. But first you have to be candidate, and for this you have to choose a side. Longing to see you make the step, Mr Lapid.
32. More nonsense again. Doesn't he ever run out of it???
Harry Wright ,   UK   (11.06.11)
33. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right
Jorge ,   Tegucigalpa   (11.06.11)
That has to be performed with responsability, fairness and never with self righteousness, the problem with Israeli Journalists(most of them), is that they are above all, self righteous, not fair and irresponsable. Israel is a country at war against enemies bent on its destruction, against miriad antisemites, Israeli Journalists diseminate openly and willingly pieces that help those enemies on their purposes, there are others, in a major newsmedia in Israel, that in any other country but Israel, would be clasified as traitors, Israels society is great that tolerates even those bordering in treason, but as a rule it should limit and ostrazice them, due to the damage they cause Israel and the Jewish people
34. Pathetic discredited Niemand.
G. Fränkl   (11.06.11)
Try reading Caroline glick and then perhaps you will not dare to show your face in public being thoroughly and totally disgusted by jerks like you.

J.Gad ,   israel   (11.06.11)

39. Woodward & Bernstein uncovered nothing
Yanni   (11.06.11)
The background story, the prostitution ring run by the Democrats in the Watergate office, and their little black book, were only divulged many years later, the whole point of W&B was not to bring out any true facts but to destroy Nixon.
40. bulshit 39

41. the aftermath...nerds do not need to excercise that much
Joya ,   Israel   (11.06.11)
everyone knows where he/she can escercise freedom of expression: facebook, twitter, blogspot, wordpress, blogger, human watch organizations, or talkbacks like ynet that are not afraid to make public opinions. After all, just those who are afraid to show themself as they realy are, find pleasure tin manipulate others. I can recommend to talkbacks readers a great psicology writer, Errich Fromm or some articles from the sefer habahir, even though if anyone of you want to create a blog for me, please send to me the url address and password. Ill be delight to debate.
42. #16
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.06.11)
Arutz 7 is a great example. You say that their journalism wasn't great. True or not, that is irrelevant. The fact is that the Government and the Courts shut them down in violation of Israeli law and Israeli basic laws. This single action proves that Lapid is wrong. Whether because of financial interests or political interests, people like Lapid will do their best to silence dissenting opinions and push their own narrow and very profitable (for themselves) opinions.
43. I am not a labeler.
nibor ,   israel   (11.06.11)
But what I do believe, is that when Israel is in a war you do not jeopardize your own citizens by filming spots that will tip the enemy off where the bombs are falling. Freedom of the press is nice but does not take priority over peoples' lives. There are 350 million Americans, only 7 million Israelis.
44. For Yair Lapid
Reuven ,   Herzlia, Israel   (11.06.11)
Do you include people like Amira Hess, Gideon Levy i, so prevelant in in Ha'aretz in your evaluation of our media? If so, why?
45. FUNCTIONAL Zionism: PRONOUNCEABLE spelling is ESSENTIAL !!
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (11.06.11)
46. realy

in that time free speech is a jornalism but realy jornalism must be the free speech
47. FSU Immigrants...
D.R.C. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.07.11)
You say "Israel is home to a million and half citizens from the former Soviet Union - just ask them if they wish to again live in a country where writing annoying things is forbidden. " I'm sure they would agree. However, they don't want to stay here, either. They are treated as 2nd class citizens, especially those hundreds of thousands who aren't considered Jewish by the rabbinate. You also say "Israel is strong because everyone deserves to be represented. " And yet, too few of us are. That's partially our own fault because the majority don't vote and we let the religious parties grab up blocks of Knesset seats and then they attempt to run our lives. Yair - if you run for the Knesset, you could motivate the general public to vote and then maybe, the next Knesset will actually have members that represent the real makeup of this country and not the ultra religious minorities who vote enmass for whomever their rebbi tells them to vote for.
48. Patriotism
Reuven ,   Herzlia Israel   (11.07.11)
A dash of patriotism would also be in order. This is something lacking here, and mast-headed by the media.
