Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (11.08.11)
There is nothing worse in life than crying all the time...stop crying about the past, for God s sake...
3. Hope
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (11.08.11)
Yes, you had hope! And today you have no guts to admit that that hope was fake!
4. Stop moaning and do something!
Dan   (11.08.11)
Get rid of the settlements, stop Haredim taking control of the army, roads, buses and society, mobilize the West against Iran and its proxies, engage in effective international propaganda. get off your lazy asses and work for the country!!
5. Todats Israeli Jew has become a Warsaw Ghetto resident
Al   (11.08.11)
waiting to die, as his leaders tells him that all he has to do is wait patiently for the next train to take him to resettlement. Wake up Jews of Israel : Your leaders are taking you to the slaughter. Defend yourselves against the enemy within and without.
6. no, that isn't democracy withering but socialism
ghostq   (11.08.11)
withering, there is big difference between the two, the socialist party can moan but their party do no get funds or support like they used to therefor they cry, so much for socialism justic style, baaa take their money and suddenly the democracy card is drawned.
7. because
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.11)
Israel was in a far better place in Rabin's time for many reasons. Because in Rabin's time, Hezbolla was a weak militia and the SLA protected Israel's northern border. Because in Rabin's time, Arafat was in exile in Tunis and Fatah and Hamas were ineffective local organizations. Because in Rabin's time there weren't 100,000 rockets aimed at Israel's population center. Because in Rabin's time Fatah did not have a 40000-strong army in Judea and Samaria. Because in Rabin's time, most Jewish villages in Israel were not surrounded by fences. Because in Rabin's time, the PM could say "there is no chance whatsoever for war because we are so far stronger than the enemy"
8. Revisionism
Meir ,   Toronto   (11.08.11)
It has been well reported that Rabin gave all indications of being tougher on the Palestinians than any subsequent government has been. What these individuals are engaging in is self delusion-in spite of the evidence of Rabin's speeches they continue to believe what they want to believe-imagining a world that did not exist and will not exist.
9. Rabin's path was the catastrophe of Oslo.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.08.11)
I am confident the Israeli public will never allow anyone else to take us down the disastrous path of Rabin. Rabin's Oslo was the most grievous wound any nation inflicted upon itself in all of human history. Leave it to the lunatic Israeli left to love it. Leave it to them to idolize a process which brought Israel tens of thousands of rockets and thousands of maimed and murdered civilians.
10. You Have to be Kidding?
Joe Tango ,   USA   (11.08.11)
Right??
11. for those with memory...
Golan ,   Modiin   (11.08.11)
the early 1990's promised peace while terror reigned. the Rabin government ignored reality and went head first into an empty pool declaring with a straight face that Hope would fill it with water. Rabin also had very little to do with Oslo as it was Shimon Peres, Yosi Beilin, and the "blaziers" who ran the show. Rabin was a fig leaf. I know its romantic to talk about the "hope" people had. But it was an abusive marriage and the reason most Israelis at the time did not see it was because the bride had two black eyes.
12. illusions
Abba ,   vienna   (11.08.11)
the left who brought us Oslo had illusion and fantasies, but was never hope.
13. If only senility and not opportunism causes them to invent
Ilan   (11.08.11)
Rabin died for some cheap sloganeering it seems. With all the decorum of grave robbers they create a false legacy from bits and pieces.
14. in rabin time we had terror!
moti ,   usa   (11.08.11)
15. In Rabin's time you had phantasy
m   (11.08.11)
... and you still can't get rid of it. It's very hard to deal with the reality, we know.
16. Israel's has-been clown in full force to parade and preen
Gábor Fränkl   (11.08.11)
17. Revisionists
Aviv ,   Ramat Aviv, Israel   (11.08.11)
These guys are pathetic. "[Today]The political situation is dismal, and the spirit of Israel's democracy is also withering away – that same spirit which during Rabin's era and the years that followed was a source of pride for all of us." Rabin lied to the voters before the '92 elections claiming he wouldn't speak to the PLO and then he got Oslo II passed by paying off two Tzomet MKs to join the government. The left fantasy of the good old days when they were in power is too much to take. These bozos were a disaster for Israel and brought us the worst terrorism in the history of the world.
18. It was a false hope then and it is a
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (11.08.11)
false hope now, not matter how you slice it. I know it's hard to accept that the issue of Peace is very deep, about as deep as the dagger that Islamic Theology needs to put in the heart of every Jew, to prove that they are the chosen people.
19. Oh. Hope.
Gideon Reader   (11.08.11)
I thought you said dope. The list of loyalist ministers reads like the list of "Most wanted". Did you notice the list canted severly to the left. That wacky gravity.
20. You were idiots for bringing all but dead arafat back from
Hippocrates ,   Earth   (11.08.11)
the grave in the early 90s. He was toast, an afterthought,...you enabled the murders of 1000s of your people because you were too proud too stupid and too deceitful to see your mistake. Jordan is the solution; Jordan was and IS Palestine. Fact.
