There will be an exchange of missiles between Israel & Iran although hopefully the Arrow will knock down the bulk of Iran's missiles. Hezbollah & Hamas will almost certainly join in the fun and possibly Assad in a last ditch effort to go from zero to hero but we have to ask ourselves if we want a nuclear Iran. It will almost certainly lead to Saudi Arabia and possibly Egypt developing their own nuclear programs turning the Middle East into the nuclear weapons capital of the world. It may also spill over into a conventional war between Iran & Saudi Arabia which will cause oil prices to sky rocket. If Iran does get nukes though long term they will bully the Gulf states into increasing oil prices and kicking out the west. How long would it take for a nuclear Iran to convince Bahrain to expel the US 5th fleet? Iran also has an advanced missile program so how long will it be before their missiles can hit mainland USA & Europe with a nuke? We are screwed if we do nothing but we are screwed if we do take action. We just have to ask ourselves do we want a long term problem which can't be resolved in the form of a Middle East arms race and probably decline of western influence in the region or do we want to suffer the short term consequences now? Its an issue thats going to affect everybody ( not just Israel ) which is why it should be the major powers who should be dropping the bombs because they have better equipment than Israel. more of it and they are more mobile with their aircraft carriers and bases in the Gulf and leave Israel to deal with its neighbors. It might end up being the war to end wars in the Middle East with the NATO dealing with Iran and Israel able to take its gloves off and deal with Hamas, Hezbollah and possibly Syria.
