1. Erase stain on justice system with real investigation.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.10.11)
The real stain is the stain on the Israeli justice system resulting from the lack of a real investigation into the Rabin murder. We can't pretend the case is closed when there are hundreds of serious inconsistencies with the "lone rightist assassin" theory. We must find out the truth to erase the stain. Let's have a real investigation, clear up the inconsistencies and let the chips fall where they will.
2. #1 Hagai Stadler messages are much deeper
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (11.10.11)
We (humanity) are doomed of imperfection. The text carries serious truth: “If an act contradicts natural morality, apparently it is not God’s will”. In the maelstrom of everyday life, we aspire to small targets and each of us gradually forgets important things. Good text, Mr. Stadler, for “unknowable” human nature
3. Sincere investigation should have proceeded by now
Bridget   (11.10.11)
Reports of orchestration not by the right wing, but by Israel's current president...Do the legwork and your homework.
4. Lets start with the Altalena
James ,   Tel Aviv   (11.10.11)
Major Rabin gave the order to kill even those who jumped overboard and tried to swim to safety. How about we start investigating that?
5. stain
Rafael ,   Yerushalayim Israel   (11.10.11)
Rabin's capitulation to terror is a stain on Zionism.
6. stain
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.10.11)
What about the Halul murder incident?
7. ENOUGH WITH THIS NONSENSE
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (11.10.11)
We are bored with this constant berating and self-flagellation of Saint Rabin .Rabin was no saint. He is dead and buried .Get over it .GET A LIFE .
8. Murder unacceptable, but
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (11.10.11)
There is no excuse to murder some one, but let us not let this murder cloud our vision. Rabin did some terrible things for which we are still suffering. There should be a 'kosher' manner to express disappointment with Rabin and his 'achievements' without being cast into the same group as his murderer.
9. Suppose there hadn't been a murder attempt?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (11.10.11)
This is a very difficult debate to enter because somebody met a horrible death. I ask the above question coupled with what would be Rabin's reputation NOW?As understand it,Yigal Amir killed Rabin because he believed that the Oslo Peace Process was a dangerous mistake made by Rabin who consequently became a 'rodef' because his actions were an immediate danger to Israel. Now,with the advantage of hindsight, who can say that Amir's analysis was wrong no matter how much we may deplore his actions?Like it or not, maybe with the best of intentions,Rabin was fooled and tricked into placing Israel into today's dangerous position with terrorists in suits and uniforms pressuring Israel in every way and from every direction. Rabin's blood was no atonement. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
10. Lawrence and Ian are right
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (11.10.11)
I am sorry Rabin was assassinated. But please: enough already! The man was not a saint. His legacy remains highly questionable. Let's stop with all the hindsight, all these years on.
11. yes...but
Eli ,   Hollywood, FL, USA   (11.11.11)
I see that the "yes...but" crowd is sickeningly well-represented here. Yes, Rabin's murder was awful "but' he was no saint. Yes, Rabin's murder was an awful crime "but" maybe Yigal Amir was right about him after all. And so on. Sound familiar? Sound a lot like, yes, those suicide bombings are hideous, "but" look what the Palestinians have suffered? Sure it does, because apologetics for murder are eqully disgusting regardless of the source.
12. #11 grow up
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.11.11)
Rabin's Oslo gamble failed. He signed agreements supported by less than half of the population against his election promises, thanks to payment to Shas and bribery (Goldfarb). Instead of peace, Arafat launched the first Oslo war targeted against civilian buses. If he hadn't been killed, Rabin would have been hounded from office. Instead, politicians used his death to make him an untouchable saint, not because of who he was, but as a political tool to promote the failed Oslo accords. The "yes...but" crowd is reacting to those who dance on Rabin's blood to promote their destructive political agenda.
13. #all - you're wrong article
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (11.11.11)
Read between the lines of this opinion, not literally. If you want to comment Rabin, change the article
14. Growth:BIG ISRAEL,PRONOUNCEABLE spelling,socio-econ. 3rd WAY

15. Response to # 11
TSB ,   Clifton, NJ USA   (11.11.11)
The person who murdered Rabin was convicted and is serving a life sentence. There is a segment which wishes to use the natural revulsion at that murderous act to squelch any criticism of Rabin and his policies. Sorry, but the two are distinct issues. One can condemn the murder while at the same time noting that Rabin's policies have led to bloodshed and suffering.
16. A GOOD, THOUGHTFUL PIECE...
Rafi ,   US   (11.11.11)
Too bad more religious Zionists don't have similar considerations & thoughts... Stadler is brave to speak out.
17. "Religious" Zionism
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (11.13.11)
B"H - "Religious" Zionism is seen by more and more Jews as idol worshipping the State. Stadlar's article is a reflection of this: Whenever Statenics act against Torah there will be violence in Israel as Hashem, our G-d, keeps a close eye on this Land. You seculars can fill up your mouths with the (civil) “law of the land” and with “democracy”, for many here there is a higher authority. If what you do is against Torah, chances are it won't pass smoothly.
18. James @ 4 YESSS ..Exactly shall we? Rabin was honest,BUT
