Steven Kantor ,   L.A USA   (11.10.11)
I hope all the fools who voted for Palestine are happy now. I wonder how the people in those countries feel, now that the Palestinians have basically killed off UNESCO projects around the world.
4. UNESCO
Ruth ,   San Diego USA   (11.10.11)
UNESCO's leadership and membership felt it was important to put political posturing above its stated mission. Because of this choice, their mission may now be eliminated. I hope they, and people around the world whose cultural heritage will now be free to fall into neglect and rot, feel it was worth it.
5. UNESCO says it wont take on new projects
youv ,   israel   (11.10.11)
TO #3. We killed UNESCO projects around the world, not the Palestinians. And we call ourselves a civilized nation! We simply bully other nations if they dont agree with us. We dont care about humanity because we are the chosen nation......!!!!!!!
6. UNO UNESCO
SJOERD RUURD VDV ,   MULTIVERSE   (11.10.11)
IT IS THE MEANING THAT UNESCO IS ABLE TO FUNCTION AS FULLY AS POSSIBLE.
7. UNESCO funding
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (11.10.11)
President Obama will find a way to get around the ridiculous US law that cuts off US UNESCO funds in the event of Palestinian accession. And after he is reelected next year, he will get the law voided, by Executive Order, if need be. Meanwhile, kudos to UNESCO, which put principle above pragmatism and admitted the deserving nation to UNESCO. The illegitimate nation called Israel will soon be drummed out.
8. Well surprise, bad decisions have consequences!
Carl ,   USA   (11.10.11)
9. It's not like UNESCO wasn't warned ...
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (11.10.11)
Actions have consequences. Members set aside good sense for political correctness. Now they'll have to live with the budgetary shortfall.
10. The Americans created a vacuum which is very dangerous. Read
Is ra   (11.10.11)
Instead of creating strong foundations in the territories they just left the remindings of any influence they use to have
11. #5, Youv. How about the world bowing to Arab bullying?
(11.10.11)
The whole mid-east problem exists because the world won't stand up to Arab threats to cut oil production or embark on even more terrorism. It is much easier to sacrifice little Israel than to risk your neck by doing what's morally right. The U.S. made its position abundantly clear before the vote and UNESCO must now reap the consequences.

Speak for yourself
13. a good harvest
tiki ,   belgium   (11.10.11)
UNESCO reaped what it sawed. It 'earned a bunch of paupers, calling themselves Palestinians and 'lost one of their principal beneficiaries, the US. If they would be a business, they would have filed for 'chapter eleven or go bust. Good strategic & profitable thinking, this love "Palestine" strategie.
14. UNESCO didn't legitimize the PLO
BH ,   Iowa   (11.10.11)
The PLO deligitimized UNESCO. This should be a lesson for other organizations who may be thinking of caving.
15. their punishment for declaring Rachels Tomb to be a mosque
zionist forever   (11.10.11)
It really does bring a smile to my face seeing a cash strapped UNESCO squirming like this. I just hope the US has the courage to continue to withhold funding for as many years as it takes until UNESCO kicks out the palestinians, if for no other reason its helping the US reduce its $15 trillion debt most of which was accumulated by Obama not Bush. Poor Abbas he has gone from being the hero of UNESCO to its a zero because now they can't afford to carry out anymore projects which hopefully means they won't be declaring anymore Jewish heritage sites as being Muslim ones. Thank you Ynet for publishing this it means I can go to sleep tonight happy.
16. #5 - that's the way that nature works!
michael redbourn ,   arad israel   (11.10.11)
"We simply bully other nations if they dont agree with us". When you see nature in action. what do you see? Answer; in case you don't see it. The survival of the fittest and man can't change that.
17. Rewriting historyfor the Arabs neither cultural nor scienti
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (11.11.11)
18. Abbas is getting money from the US and UNESCO not.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (11.11.11)
Let Abbas split it down the middle and give UNESCO half of what he gets.
19. UNESCO
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (11.11.11)
The UNESCO can disolve themself, there are not projects except eroding the Jewish identity from Israel. Last projects were political biased so nodoby will miss UNESCO. Next body should UNGA.
20. #7 - just ask the Arabs to pay their fair share
William ,   Israel   (11.11.11)
I mean, it's only $20mm, Arabs suck that much out of the US economy on a daily basis through their illegal cartel. Oh wait - you mean they'll decry the US for ending funding to their cause but not fund it themselves? Where have we seen that before?
21. #7 - Illegitimate or not, Israel is here
William ,   Israel   (11.11.11)
I know it's tough, but get used to it. :-)))))))))
22. #10 - The US has been pumping cash and good will...
William ,   Israel   (11.11.11)
into the "Palestinians" for years.... their thanks? Dancing on 9/11 and blowing up their diplomats who arrived in Gaza to interview students for a Fulbright scholarship. Not to mention siding with enemies of the US and constant derogatory comments about Americans and their leadership. I believe we can get that "influence" for free.
23. #15 - Canada also announced withhold of funds
William ,   Israel   (11.11.11)
and other Western countries are considering it too. Soon the only members left will be Arab despotic regimes and their lap dogs, the "Palestinians". So UNESCO will become the new OIC and Arab League.
24. The West should continue funding the U.N. because___________
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.11.11)
It is time to cut off ALL funding from the loathesome U.N. It does absolutely nothing of value. It is the plaything of terrorists and tyrants. It plays games while millions perish in famines, genocide etc. The countless billions misused to fund the U.N. could accomplish so much good for humanity. Let those who favor funding the U.N. fill in the blank in the following question: The West should continue funding the U.N. because_____________________. I bet there are no rational answers.
25. Deceptive wording ...as usual....
EST ,   Miami USA   (11.11.11)
the US DID NOT pull its substantial contributions from the UN cultural agency to protest its acceptance of Palestine as a member. It did so because the law requires the US to stop funding any agency that collaborates and funds well known terrorist groups!!!The moment the so called Palestinians stop Hamas and Hezbollah from operating in the disputed territories...things may move forward again....
26. Let the "pals" fund new programs, they have money.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.11.11)
27. projects
Doron ,   Israel   (11.11.11)
a good priject not to put off would be to help the education ministry of the PA give the next generation at school an acceptable education, preparing them for the possible scenario that Israel did in fact exist in biblical times/ does now and will exist in future.as well and that the fact that jews do not live in greater Palestine,
28. Pali money
Rachel   (11.11.11)
let Palestine pay their membership- will all the money they are getting from all over the world- they can make up for the US money..... end of free ride.
29. (25) EST
tiki ,   belgium   (11.11.11)
Never mind the wording....it's the "action that counts! The US (others will follow) put their money were their mouth is (for whatever reason). The 'love for the Palies is splitting the world into Einstein's & Dumbo's. UN/UNESCO & friends belong to the latter. They are following Abbas, the ""Pied Piper of Palestine"". There are not many Einsteins and a lot of Dumbo's on this planet, but Dumbo's can become Einsteins...visa versa is impossible.
30. UNESCO
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.11.11)
Where was UNESCO when the Taliban dynamited ancient statues of Buddha and declared that girls could no longer go to school? So much for "culture" and "education."
