31. Thank God it wasn't another innocent Palestinian
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (11.11.11)
What is a French Jew doing in occupied Palestine? Why are Jewish soldiers shooting at cars in Palestine?
32. Los Angeles riots 1990's
Joe Sailus ,   Omaha USA   (11.11.11)
A pick up truck was driving towards a United States Marine road block. They commanded him to stop over loud speaker - He kept coming - The Marines shot a 3.5 inch Rocket into his engine. What little they could find of his body was buried. Whats the lesson ? When you advance on a Military unit after orders to stop you are deemed to be a direct threat to their lives. Nobody complained here in USA..We understand that the man in the truck got what he asked for . Very simple.
33. why Rabbi didn't slow down
observer ,   Egypt   (11.11.11)
because either he believed that no one can stop a Jew from going to pray at the Cave of Patriarch, or above 50YO are not allowed in the Cave of Patriarch at 5 AM. he second assumption is not true. But according to instructions and rules of engagement, soldiers are not supposed to shoot at a moving vehicle. Something fishy in the story.
34. Relocate Settlement to Tel Aviv.........
Raf ,   Athens   (11.11.11)
This will proably save more Palestinian lives than Israeli lives but since many israeli's consider an Israeli life worth 1,000 Palestinian lives, the math works for Israel as well. END THE OCCUPATION!
35. May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion. The
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.11.11)
soldiers must be grieving as much as the family as their intent was to prevent terrorist attacks not kill one of their own.
36. How sad is this ? My heartfelt condolences
miri ,   israel   (11.11.11)
to the family. Absolutely heartbreaking news.
37. tragic, yes, but this is duty
Rachel   (11.11.11)
yes it is tragic for the family- but why did the rabbi not stop? Did he NOT SEE the roadblock? This sounds fishy... if this had been a Palestinian driving through, then it would habe been ok to shoot? TBs do not make sense at all... The roadblock was there to stop vehicles- any car driving through was asking for it from a security point of view.
38. Fear of the Soldier
tolga zafer ,   Muğlai Türkiye   (11.11.11)
I may understand the soldiers fear of attack against his life 'cause thats what he is living with 24/7 even there is no need... He must fear of the stones maybe ... So the killing is not accidental it is a murder of the government which has a list of countless murders on behalf...
39. A different take on the politics of this thing
Christobal ,   Dallas, USA   (11.11.11)
I've a different take with due respect to all concerned. I saw the story on JP, checked it out via Haaretz and Arutz Sheva. Saw the man's age as 55 with a surviving wife and five kids. He is close to my own age. I've a wife and one kid. Humans are blessed and oftentimes cursed by the "facts of life." Good luck to his family. The Lord giveth. The Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Shalom, Salaam, Pax, Peace, and Good Cheer to all on our mortal, beautiful, and oftentimes dangerous planet.
40. driving very slowly, flashing his headlights
observer ,   Egypt   (11.11.11)
a stationary watch post inside Otniel detected a suspicious vehicle, a silver colored Peugeot with Israeli license plates, driving very slowly on the main road, Route 60. The driver was flashing his headlights as if he was signaling someone. The information was forwarded to soldiers on the road, and they spotted the car a short time later, traveling in the early morning, a bit after 5:00am without headlights. The driver was signaled (by ? flashing) to halt for an inspection. So, the underlying mistake is "flashing". Before putting off headlight, rabbi was driving very slowly at 5 Am and flashing headlight. Some drivers who are busy with something else rather than driving do flash their headlight to convince others they are focusing, not drunk or not concentrating. There came the two women passengers; non of the two was his wife or a relative. Something fishy in the story.
41. 34 - backwards
evo ,   tel aviv   (11.11.11)
you have things backwards. Hamas just made an official deal with israel - 1 israeli soldier for roughly 1000 palestinians. Seems to me like the depreciated value of life is on palestinian shoulders, not israeli shoulders. I think we would happily give one man for another if the lives were valued equally.
42. The rabbi didn't belong there
Truthseeker ,   USA   (11.12.11)
Had the now deceased rabbi not been a settler and had he stayed behind the Green Line where he belonged he would still be alive.
43. good to see you
kemal ,   turkey   (11.12.11)
being a poraniac
44. When you receive a signal that a WHITE SKODA is
sergio ,   malmö, Sverige   (11.12.11)
behaving suspiciously and you shoot at a GREY PEUGEOT, WITHOUT SETTING-UP A PROPER ROAD BLOCK, you are just a fool.
45. idf shooting of rabbi
