1. Why
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.13.11)
Why do the Haredi women have to get only 1 hour of radio broadcasting? Since they make up 10% of the population, they should get about 50% of Reshet B time. or is it that Haredim are illegally discriminated against by Reshet B?
2. listening to a woman's voice
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (11.13.11)
The restriction of listening to a woman's voice is restricted only to her singing. To call in to a radio station, especially since the listeners do not know the woman is by all accounts not problematic.
3. Frear. Fear that an intelligent woman would show up a lesser
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.13.11)
man. Not all charadi men are overly brilliant and a well educated charadi woman could present herself so well that some lesser educated men could feel inadequate. Well, they could just get just get used to the fact that not everyone has the same educational abilities and do their best and be happy with that.
4. Restriction on women callers
Spencer ,   Israel   (11.13.11)
Chauvinism at its best. And, can someone tell me where in the Halacha it is written that listening to a waman sing is forbidden. It was women who sang praises to the Lord as the Jews were lead across the Red Sea. It's time for the haredi women to stop allowing themselves to be abused.
5. #4 women's voice singing
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (11.13.11)
Your ignorance is showing. It is written in Shulchan Orach.

You're yelling me that women never sangpraises to the Lord during the Rxodus from Egypt? Quote me where in theHALACHA it isforbidden to hear a woman sing

The question of whether or not women can sing in front of men isn't relevant here - the question is whether it's forbidden for them to speak. And that is patently nonsense. Every rabbi, no matter from which stream, will tell you that there is no prohibition anywhere about speaking. It's not about halacha, it's about marginalizing women and keeping them out of the public sphere.

Hi Spencer, With all your overwhelming knowledge of Bible etc., you should know that is why Miriam, Moses' sister took drums and tambourines to accompany their singing. To all the rest of you talk backers, Butt out! If the charedi world was doing this on Gaalei Tzahal than you have a point, but pray tell me who listens to Kol Chai other than charedim? Why do the secular feel that if the charedim try to impose something than it is religious coercion? On the other hand it seems alright for the secular world to try and mandate what the charedi people do on there own radio station (it is a private station). Wouldn't that be considered secular coercion? Let us call a spade a spade! This is a FREE Democratic JEWISH State, so let the people who want to at least to pretend to be jewish do as they will in the confines of their own radio station that no one listens to other than them!
9. Wow .006 of a share. Kol hakavod! NOT
Josh   (11.14.11)
1 divided by 168 hours in the week. It is a step at least but still shows how Jews are oppressed by other Jews. Let's be serious. Are we to believe they can say whatever they want. If they say anything the community doesn't like, such as there were no machizahs in Mitzraim, they are sure to be shut down. Worse they may likely be shun and lose their entire life by being shut into a personal hell. I sat in Meah Sharim and herd the phone calls where women cleared a large part of their conversations with the Rabbi over lashon harah fears. Just one more example of why G-d made it so important to not allow men to add to our Torah. Slaves to other men just as Torah predicted.
10. hahaha! charm
J.Gad ,   Israel   (11.15.11)
now rabbis will understand why modern haredi women wear dresses like men in the old times :-)
11. makes me cry
Rachel   (11.15.11)
if it wasn't so utterly pathetic, demeaning and insulting I would either cry or laugh out loud: one hour a week? How DARE those black-hatted fanatics treat women like this? Women in Israel should start their OWN radio station-. If it was not for their women, those orthodox loonies would starve and walk around in dirty socks and underwear- disgusting chauvinists.
12. #8 butt out?
laura   (11.15.11)
with all due respect- Israel is also a democracy- or insists she is- this makes me doubt it. IF the men can have their station- so should women- without the black hatters coercing them...the one hour for women is pathetic- to say the least. The women are not allowed to speak? Pardon me for living..
13. Yes, Laura, Butt Out!
Female Listener ,   Israel   (11.16.11)
As a female listener of this radio station, I feel qualified to tell you to keep your noses out of our business. Just as seculars have a right to hear what they want on their radio stations, we have a right to hear what we want as well. Talk about secular coercion ....

Female listener 2 ,   Jerusalem   (11.17.11)
I don't consider myself Haredi, but religious none-the-less. I used to listen to Kol Barama & stopped when I got fed up of them discussing issues to do with women, eg, preganant women fasting, & plenty of others, yet the women were unable to call in & actually present the necessary information. This is a welcome move & should be used in a positive way.
15. Slaves Don't Notice Their Chains
DTorres ,   NYC USA   (11.20.11)
I think those in motion have seen something the others have not; their imprisonment. While those who do not move, do not notice their chains. Truly yours, Rosa Luxemburg
