a hospital, but I only just heard about it. Funny what our media leaves out of their news reports. I hope that this new facility will protect the good people of the beautiful Upper Galilee. #1 has a point, why no basement? Maybe they don't want Hizbollah to get any building ideas. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a building ordinance that said all schools and hospitals must have areas set aside for "government and semi-governmental organisational use".
3. Rocket proof hospitals for protection vs. "peace partners".
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.06.11)
The concept of building rocket proof hospitals is fundamentally wrong. If hospitals are rocket proof; why not make EVERY building in Israel rocket proof? After all, rockets don't distinguish between hospitals and other buildings or hospitals and civilians. The major reason we build rocket proof structures is to protect some of us from rockets launched by our Fatah "peace partners". What we need is sane policies. Not rocket proof hospitals.
4. "why not make EVERY building in Israel rocket proof?"
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.07.11)
Simple, it costs a great deal of money and requires a TON of concrete. Actually, how do such buildings stand up to earthquakes? I am not an architect, but it seems thick concrete walls would make for many crushing deaths; or is the opposite true?

Hey genious, if all we needed all those years was simply good policies, than we would have peace a long long time ago...Seem like its much more complicayed than that. Meanwhile, great job. Happy Hannukah and (green) peas on earth
6. to #3 usually people say thanks for this blessed
ghostq   (12.07.11)
cause, seems like you don't get the reality of Iran control org named Hizbulla, they brok UN resolution once more, and none is doing anything about it. in other words this is more than blessed step.
7. nice hospital but where are you going to find the doctors???

Rockets do make a distinction between houses and other buildings, especially of your Peace partners specifically aim for them as they did and will do again. Terror groups exist to cause TERROR. Regular housing is not nearly as promising a target as Hospitals, malls and discotecks. What sane policies to you propose?
9. #8. Start by treating Fatah as the deadly enemy it is.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.08.11)
#8. You ask what I mean by "sane policies". To start with, let's treat Fatah as the deadly enemy it is rather than pretending it's a "peace partner". Fatah has maimed and murdered FAR more Jews than Hamas and Hizbullah combined. It is the most dangerous terrorist gang of all.
10. #4 "why not make EVERY building in Israel rocket proof?"
Yakov Butterfield ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.09.11)
Thicker concrete walls are better in earthquake given there is more steel rebar reinforcing the wall and that they use kevlar or a plastic binder in the concrete. After the California 1994 Northridge, which i lived through, earthquake the freeways were rebuilt with thicker concrete posts made with a concrete plastic mix.
11. A disgrace
Israeli   (12.08.11)
Instead of destroying our enemies we build more walls and bunkers. I'm embarrassed.
12. Lets be PC here guys...
Aaron ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.11)
Nothing is rocket proof, it's rocket RESISTANT
13. #2 Henry
Amir ,   Jerusalem, Palestine   (12.12.11)
Israel also targeted hospitals in Gaza, in 2009 so what exactly is your point?
14. #13, evidence from a source with relatively little bias?
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.12.11)
Oh and make sure that it has proof that they were intentionally targeted as opposed to being collateral damage.
15. new hospital
sas ,   israel   (12.14.11)
hope that it will not be like the MONSTER that Hadassah Ein Karem has turned into. You can get sick by just visiting someone there. Who ever designed it - did not take into consideration that one needs to get from place to place - will not even discuss the parking lots....................
