1. This P.o.S. is directly responsible
Concerned & smart   (11.15.11)
for over 1000 murdered Israelis having blood on his hands and he got his trophy of the emasculated-significance of "President" by similarly ultra-corrupt niemands in the Knesset. This Sob should not open his alzheimer-inflicted mouth any more.
2. Peres is part of the problem
Rachel ,   US   (11.15.11)
3. If Peres can't be presidential let him resign
Sidney ,   USA   (11.15.11)
He is "head of state" and should not interfere with the political process. If he wants to be head of government, let him run for the office and lose again.

6. Why is the media not...
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (11.15.11)
...mentioning the fact that this figurehead president is overstepping the bounds of his job? He is not allowed to interfere in partisan politics. He is supposed to represent all Israelis impartially without taking sides, and with these transgressions of his, I say outright: This creep does not represent me, and I demand his impeachment!
7. Peres Peace Center Money
joe tango ,   usa   (11.15.11)
He is probably against the Legislation because of the Peres Peace Center funding could be affected. Talk about Conflict of Interest
8. Does Peres thinks the court has been fair to all???
Gilon   (11.15.11)
Currently, the 3 court justices decide whom to pick as the judge. For decades, this system has been happening and undermining the public at large. The current system stand along the lines "The minority rules the majority". And it must change.
9. Peres has been very busy today
zionist forever   (11.15.11)
In Israel the president who is appointed by the Knesset not elected is supposed to be a non political figurehead. Peres though still acts like he is leader of a political party whose job it is to challenge the elected government. Peres is welcome to object to these bills but if he has a problem with them he should discuss it with Bibi in private and not giving an official speech. Today he has also been telling the media how the world doesn't need to carry our military action on Iran. The PM has spent the past week trying to get the world to see that military action is whats needed the president though comes along and says now we don't need that sort of thing. The man is a disgrace and should be kicked out of office, let him go home spend the last years of his life writing his memoirs.

Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (11.15.11)
Muslims are using Europe's democracies to overthrow their host counties. For more on how Islamization is acheived ... http://tinyurl.com/bvftgtt And Israel would be foolish to allow the same tactic to be used against it.

15. Peres - a walking disgrace and a monument of disaster
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.15.11)
Peres' philosophy is yielding to enemy demands and interfering with the lives of citizens but backing off when demanding inner stability and loyalty. My philosophy is quite the opposite: never yield to enemy demands and defeat your enemy with nothing remaining of him, back off from the private lives of citizens but insist that they MUST be loyal to Israel as a Jewish and democratic state. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Limiting the power of judges decreases their power and decreases corruption - that way increasing the rights and freedom of Israeli citizens. Israeli parliamentary democracy should turn into a Presidential Democracy with a system of checks and balances similar to the USA. Israel's political life should be divided into the Executive Branch (President of Israel - Israel's Head of State and Head of Government), the Legislative Branch (Knesset - that should in the name of justice be divided into two chambers - one dealing with national representation and one chamber dealing with local representation) and the Supreme Court. Israelis of age should be able to vote for the following: 1) To vote for the political party one wants to see in power. 2) To vote for the representative for that party. 3) To vote for the specific individual - man or woman - you would like to see elected President of Israel. 4) Every member of Knesset - in both chambers - should be votable and be held responsible to the citizens. Both MKs of the national chamber and regional chamber should be handpicked or voted for by the electorate. The government of Israel lead by the President, suggests what people should be appointed to the position of judges in the Supreme Court. The MKs of the national chamber of Knesset should inform the government whether the choice of judges in the Supreme Court is the right or wrong choice. Only a majority decision by the national chamber will in effect give legitimacy to the Supreme Court's judges. 5) Israel needs a Constitution that declares that Israel is a Jewish and democratic state. 6) The Constitution needs to state exactly what are the rights and obligations of all citizens. 7) The per cent treshold for entering the Knesset should be 10%. 8) The Constitution must define exactly how often and in what exact month elections should take place.
16. We are to blame. We should have
jason white ,   afula, israel   (11.15.11)
demanded that peres should not have been elected president by the knesset. We should have demanded that he be tried for the oslo death accords that aided terrorism and murder. We should have demanded that all sources of funding for the peres center and other n.g.o.s be investigated for outside influence. They are receiving money from sources that are hostile to Israel and the Jewish people. We should demand that peres be locked up and not allowed to communicate with the outside world.
17. Put an end to leftist fundng by Israel's enemies.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.15.11)
Israel must put an end to the absurd situation whereby Israel's enemies are free to harm our nation by massively funding destructive leftist groups. The low should be easily understood, tough and rigourously enforced.
18. Peres should get his paycheck from ham-ass, not Israel.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.15.11)
19. Foreign funding of opposition groups damages democracy
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.15.11)
A senior Meretz MK said yesterday that the law is targeting "opposition groups" and not human rights groups. The quote was from an Army Radio interview. Even the leftists don't bother calling these people "human rights" activists. Peres is encouraging foreign intervention in internal Israeli affairs. That is undemocratic. Peres also fails to note that some of the greatest democracies in the world hold hearings to help select judges. The bill may need tweaking, but the general idea of screening admissions to the Supreme Court is very democratic. Maybe Peres is missing the old system under which he was chosen as party leader - by a bunch of his cronies in a closed room holding private "primaries". Those days are gone, and it's time for Israel to strengthen its democracy, not have it weakened by foreign meddling by countries and leftists who refuse to accept the democratic will of the Israeli voters (and are so bankrupt in their ideologies that Israelis themselves won't donate money to their lost causes).
20. Democracy allowed to self harm dies
Tarbouche ,   Aswan   (11.15.11)
Old man Peres trying his best to be evenhanded. Socialist at heart, he has a blind spot to leftists. Democracies were used to steal the European nations sovereignty by the German 4th Reich, now openly acknowledged. Democracies are being abused by Islam everywhere in Europe, USA South America, South Africa, in fact everywhere Democracy has to be protected from outside intervention or it is destroyed Leftist agenda is to destroy Israel and should not be allowed to practice their treason unchecked. They should be put through a process of law to examine and expose their own and foreign backers motives
21. DEMOCRATIC
ZIONIST ,   BROOKLYN   (11.16.11)
DEMOCRATIC MEANS PROTECTING YOUR OWN CITIZENS! WAKE UP PERES!!!!!!!!!!!
