He spoke Arabic with a distincly Cairene accent. If these things don't show he was an Egyptian, what does? While there has always been a certain amount of racism in Israel, which I deplore, it has been mostly turned inward, between Jews of different geo-ethnic backgrounds--Tunisians hate Moroccans, Iraqis hate Persians, Russians hate the Poles and Romanians, etc. Even there, it has never turned to the kind of violence that you find in the Arab sector. Ahmad Tibi is nothing more nor less than an inciter for an enemy nation--the Palestinians. If he were to stand up as a US congressman and say the same things about the US, he would be impeached for sedition and treason. I like the right-wing government no more than you, but have hopes that a more balanced, centralist government, neither right nor left, with the best interests of the country and not their own personal agendas at heart, will win the next elections. Netanyahu, Lieberman and Livni can watch from the sidelines--they are ALL detrimental to Israel.

Arafat was born in Egypt, as you say. His father was born in Gaza, again, as you say. However, Gaza was never a self-ruling entity until 1993 when it came under the authority of the PA. So, when you glibly write that Arafat was a "Palestinian" although born in Egypt to a father (not a mother) who, in turn, was born in Gaza under the rule of Egypt or Great Britain, your "scholarship" becomes very debatable. Perhaps, in the interests of an honest discussion, you'd like to either put some caveats on your conclusion, admit you were wrong or expand your discussion.
