Israel has never threatened anyone, and if they were really going to use them they would have, especially during the Yom Kippur War. Iran wants nukes (and supports Hezbollah, Hamas, others throughout the world, and assisted in the killing of US Marines and French soldiers in Lebanon, not to mention supplying the Iraqi and Afghan extremists with bombs and weapons) to start another Caliphate (after they annihilate Israel). You are correct by saying Barak's stupidity as a politician amounts to complete idiocy. While I think Barak is honest in what he said, it doesn't mean I agree it needed to be said by a DM. Barak was among the worst PMs in Israeli history. As a DM he is proving himself, but only when he sticks to the basic work of defending Israel. He should definitely keep his political mouth shut because it is clear he doesn't know what to say and when. Let's face it, Barak is among many poilticians in Israel who came from the ranks of the military after finishing his service. Those "generals" come out with reputation that rarely adds up for a politician's career. Barak would do much better as retired military person than as a soon to be retired (finally!) politician. Likewise for most of the retired military persons like Barak.
