When there's money involved, where's the problem in it? You get the dope..we get the cash...its that simple.
2. Now I understand
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (11.18.11)
Now I understand, what Panetta could have meant, when he stated, that a strike on Iran would harm the world's economy.

You have, predictably enough, entirely missed the point. Does not Iran have a strict policy against drug use and the sale of drugs? I know that Ahmedinejad claims there is no drug abuse in Iran, but he also claims there is no homosexuality in Iran and that everyone in Iran enjoys living under the thumb of the ayatollahs and the mullahs. I suppose he thinks that the unrest following the last election and the ongoing protests in Iran are figments of the West's imagination. Everything in the Islamic Republic is happy, happy, joy, joy -- even when the electricity goes out for hours every day and there are little or no groceries on the shelves of the stores, and inflation is galloping ever upward and unemployment is spiraling equally upward. Oh, yes, the Islamic Republic -- paradise on earth. And all those claims of no drug abuse in Iran are belied by the number of people who are hanged from a jib crane every week for crimes involving drug sale and drug abuse. So for Iran to underwrite the sale of drugs -- by its own Revolutionary Guard, no less -- is somewhat hypocritical, wouldn't you agree? Not surprising, really, but hypocritical just the same. All the more reason for Israel to destroy Iran. Good luck finding sympathy for Iran .... anywhere in the world.
5. Not quite what Ive heard...
Tim ,   Brighton   (11.18.11)
Yes the mass transit of contraband seems to be via Eastern Europe but my understanding is that 70% is going straight into Russia and Western China What utter irony! Thats their wonderful 'open arm' policy toward Iran at work
6. I JUST WONDER...........................
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (11.18.11)
At the earlier report that opium fields have increased in Afghanistan under USA's occupation..............this was sometimes last year.If that was the case then, who exactly was trying to benefit whom since then?Revolutionary Guards with the blessings of USA forces?

10. Iran contra anyone...?
Chris.B ,   Australia   (11.18.11)
Just goes to show how deluded, obsessed and desperate the Zionist lobby has become over Iran. What's next? The Iranians killed JFK. The lies arn't even semi feasible any more. Who ever creates or believes this spin should be given a nice white jacket, soft walls and comfy straps to keep them safe.
11. YOU MAY SEE IT THE WAY YOU WANT....#4
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (11.18.11)
But strictly speaking the number of opium fields increased tremendously last year whilst USA forces were looking after and making sure that the fields are destroyed.Strange, isn't it,Sarah? You may add up your usual off the subject matters in the talk-back but the fact is,if it is bringing in the money needed, who are you to question what policy one has or not?
12. 'involved in drug trafficking from Afghanistan' ,...
split ,   US   (11.18.11)
A pathetic hasbbara demonisation ! Even if this is true we're occupying Afghanistan and we're responsible for everything it's going on in that country. We can spot a Taliban's fighter riding a donkey somewhere in Hindu Kush Mountain range, but we can't see a thousands square miles of red blooming poppie fields.
13. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.18.11)
Firstly, why on earth would you think that issues with Afghanistan and issues with Iran -- or Colombia, or Bolivia -- are related? That would be strange, wouldn't it? As for the holier-than-thou Islamofascist republic, don't you find it somewhat hypocritical to hang people for activities in which the government is itself engaging? And you wonder why Iran has no credibility with anyone, anywhere. So we now learn that the mullahs and the ayatollahs are a bunch of despicable drug dealers. Wow! I wonder what the "prophet" would have thought of that!

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.18.11)
You happen to be wrong. The Taliban is wildly resurgent in Afghanistan, and has stepped back from its policy of no poppy farming. By the way -- you can look for red poppies until the cows come home, but you won't find the opiate poppies. Those are purple. Red poppies are harmless. Don't you know ANYTHING?

Well, since the reports as detailed in the news item are seconded by quite a number of other countries, I think perhaps you are the one who belongs in a nice, white jacket to keep you safe -- although I do not care for a moment whether you are "safe" or not. You can fall off as many barstools as you like; makes no nevermind to me.

Sarah, when i read your talkbacks, they always put a smile on my face. You really are my hero. Im not bothered that you are old enough to be my mum. Shabbat Shalom
17. MAHMOOD, LONDON, UK
(11.19.11)
mahmood, you know only too well that arabs can never compete with jews and particularly with israelis on intelligence and knowledge. these two are not part of the arab gene pool. you realize this fact as well as anyone else that has watched your culture and "ACHIEVEMENTS" since the 7th century. apparently you invented the zero (actually, the persinas did) but stayed in this zero level since then. a pity! the jews and israelis simply beat you arabs time and again. so, there is no need to come back at sarah with insults or facts that do not exist (except in your imagination and it is known that arabs have such a vivid imagination instead of actual knowledge and iq). trying to convince sarah would not work since she is one heck of a knowledgeable person compared to most on this site. being a christian arab born educated in england, i would say that muslims like yourself give arabs a very bad name. i suggest you pick a book and educate yourself. you have too high an opinion of your worth that doesn't match any reality.
18. iran and drug smuggling
joel ,   usa   (11.19.11)
well, this could be true considering those barbarians are ruling iran, but is the west doing anything to stop it, ha? just one nuke and iran is done, ha,ha,ha? intrigues are weapons of spies to get sympathies, OK?

21. NON OF THE IRGC OR.........................#13
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (11.19.11)
Any organisation in Iran is involved in drug trade and you know it as well.My point was totally misunderstood by you or you made it look as though a state organisation in Iran was involved in drug trade.Your people have made numerous attempts to discredit the Iranians but at the end of the day,the truth has always prevailed. Well, what have you achieved with these hue and cry in the media?Coming weeks and months will once again prove to you that you cannot isolate Iran.Trade, relationship with the same countries who are supposedly standing next to you will continue the same relationship with Iran. And so far as your electronic jamming equipment to immobilise Iranian radars and so forth is meant for these coloumns, not in reality.
22. NONE AT ALL................................#17
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (11.19.11)
I have no opinion of my own at all but what I know for certain is everyone has a right to expresshis/her views without having to worry about a nameless person born in England and educated here.As it is,what did you contribute to what i had written?Zero, which clearly suggest total blankness up your head. All you did was to read what I wrote and then read Sarah's response. No one is making any attempt to convince Sarah, for your information.Sarah has held her views and is now into her seventh summer imagining things that have so far NOT incurred nor are they likely to do so.Furthermore, don't confine yourself to read what she writes and pick few authentic articles on the subject and use your own brain if you have any.:)
23.  Evidence Iran Excuted drug dealers
Eyal Morag ,   Israel   (11.19.11)
HUGH TOMLINSON From:
The Times Sajjad Haghpanah, a former investigator with the IRGC's domestic intelligence division, said drug trafficking was endemic within the unit During a decade at the IRGC before he fled Iran last year, Mr Haghpanah's investigations routinely uncovered connections between Iranian commanders and the criminal underworld
