31. no support for Israel
Howard ,   Jericho ny usa   (11.22.11)
What is the point of all this? Apparently it is that the Israelis, as tough as they portray themselves, are only looking for some TLC. They apparently liked the neocons who said all the right things and then made life miserable for Israel - strengthening Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas and Syria by their actions. They would rather not hear advice from the US that may actually be helpful to their position and they apparently do not prefer the strong military and intelligence cooperation that is taking place. I guess they would rather have Bush say all the right things while his administration allowed Iran to move forward with their brazen bid for nuclear power. Go figure?
32. there is no support in the white house, even for the U.S
chaim.s ,   54st brooklyn ny   (11.22.11)
unfortunately, the white house has been hijacked,by a bunch of marxist leninist leftist revolutionaries, let's hope and pray the citizens wake up in 2012,and throw out these rascals
33. Proof?
VOR   (11.22.11)
Other then running on pure emotions, can anyone link me to an example of Obama doing something that hurt Israel? Was it selling Israel bunker busters Bush wouldn't? Was it working hard to defeat the Palestinian statehood bid? Working to free the Israeli-American held in Egypt?
34. # 24
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.22.11)
Graci, read post # 17 very, very carefully until you get the drift of where Obama will be after November 2012.
35. Anyone elected in that office....
Ezra ,   San Diego   (11.22.11)
Needs to be a leader. Obama appears to lead the gays into battle. What else does he do? I didn't vote for him, I still would not vote for him; anyone who did is a la-la land idiot, or part of his money machine.
36. When will you get it.
Dauntless ,   Texas   (11.22.11)
The Palestinians do not want peace. When will you realize it. Dennis Ross was a fool.
37. The position is useless
Jon ,   Baltimore US   (11.22.11)
until there is a change in the Israeli administration for one that is ready to actively try to make peace, not a government that wants only to delay the process.
38. Ross loss is lamentable but the rest did more harm than good
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.22.11)
It was Rahm Emanuel and perhaps Axelrod too who had the bright idea of one- sided pressure on Israel on the settlement issue. What we need in the White House is not a question of people being Jewish or not. It is a question of their understanding us and being basically sympathetic to us.
39. The White House doesn't need Jews, it needs people who
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.22.11)
understand legal history, and are willing to push for the proper implementation of 'international law' as it was designed in this context: 77% of "Palestine" to the Arabs, already implemented in the form of Jordan. 23% of "Palestine" to the Jews, partially implemented in the form of Israel, and need to be firmed up with regard to the rest of the territories presently not part of sovereign Israel. The basis: San Remo Conference decisions, 1920; League of Nations decisions, 1922; and United Nations Charter, Article 80, 1945.

One can appreciate much of the author's approach, but the author himself falls into the misconception of "narratives", i.e. fictional stories told for political expediency, by framing the conflict as an Israeli-Palestinian one. The conflict, to be sure, has a local dimension, but the conflict has been and continues to be, fundamentally an Arab Israeli conflict, and more specifically, a Muslim-Arab - not a Christian-Arab, not a Druze-Arab, mind you!! - conflict with the idea of, and then with the reality called the nation-state of the Jewish people on any parcel of land in the Jewish people's homeland. Relying on objective framework in finding a peaceful accommodation between Arab and Jew, between the Muslim-Arab world and the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, must therefore be based on international legality. Legally, "Palestine" was already divided between Arabs and Jews. The Arabs, in 1921, were handed over 77% of it by the ruling British and set up their state that subsequently came to be known Jordan. The Jews, legally, based on the San Remo Conference, 1920; the League of Nations decision, 1922; and the United Nations Charter, Article 80, 1945; were assigned the rest, 23% of "Palestine", to be the "national home for the Jewish people". The international community, having passed these international laws, should now stand by and enforce them instead of falling into the trap of "narratives" and political expediency.

No great loss.
42. yawn...

"shalom, shalom, ve'ain shalom". the very basic premise of this article, that all these "experts" in the white house were conducive to peace, and therefore their departure is harmful to the prospects for peace, is false. they only contributed to the illusion that there was some sort of progress towards peace, and exerted pressure on israel for ever more concessions, where, in fact, raised arab expectations for those same concessions, is the biggest obstacle to peace. these "experts" invented the arab demand for a freeze on israeli construction, pressured israel into it, and then stood idly by for a whole year with no negotiations. anyone with even a little sense would have realized that this was not an incentive to speed up negotiations. but instead of exercising 20/20 hindsight, the same "wise men" suggested a renewal of the freeze. who needs such "expertise"?
43. Yeah. Lets leave you all to it
Dunkin Donuts ,   USA   (11.23.11)
and we will take our $ 5 Billion dollars in direct aid, military aid, Indirect aid, etc with us... Im sure we can use it somewhere else that will benefit US citizens...
44. To #33
John ,   Alaska   (11.23.11)
I'm pretty sure Ynet doesn't allow links, but on Wed, Jun 3, 2009 Reuters published an article you're looking for. There are many others available online, but this one is pretty telling. A Google search of Obama, Israel will give you the links you've requested.
45. Aliens among us?
Deborah ,   Midwest, USA   (11.23.11)
What planet do you live on? Out here in America's heartland, we despise Obama and his policies - especially toward Israel. His ratings are so low as to be laughable and you delude yourself that he has a snowball's chance in hell of being reelected. Have a good day.
46. The Bottom of The Barrel
Dan ,   NYC   (02.11.12)
Dan Kurtzer, Martin Indyk and Ross are warmed-over relics from the failed peace procees. Now that the peace process is kaput, a desperate Obama is grabbing at straws.
47. Dump Obama
Frank ,   Naperville   (02.23.12)
It is a disgrace the way Mr. Obama is treating Israel.
