Ron Paul is right to say Israel can do what it needs to do to defend itself. However, he is wrong to say that America does not do anything to help its ally. Nixon recognized Israel's standing as America's friend and ally when he ordered massive resupply of needed armaments to Israel in 1973. He did it despite all the opposition of the AntiSemites in his administration.

First, American boys aren't ever sent to Israel to defend it. (The one exception, the Patriot missile batteries in Gulf War I, were American bribes to keep Israel out of the war.) And second, if Dr. Paul actually knew about aid to Israel, he'd know that 3/4 of it never leaves American shores, as it's a requirement that that aid be spent with American manufacturers and defense contractors. So ending it would end almost $2 billion in business for US workers and their employers. But the sound bite plays well to his followers, doesn't it. Whatever turns 'em on.
