1. Not Irani, North Korean
me ,   austria   (11.26.11)
Ghadir-class was designed and is constructed in North Korea. Iran does not have an indigenous submarine industry. Ghadir-class are so called mini subs. Their only purpose is to defend harbours and coastlines, they do not possess any offensive capabilities whatsoever and connot be compared to Israel's dolphin subs. But Irans propaganda machine is working as ever

13. Careful
solomon ,   bklyn   (11.26.11)
Never underestimate your enemy. The subs may be small and not as advanced as Western subs, but if they hit another sub or surface vessel with a torpedo, it could cause lots of damage. And [supposedly] there are 14 of them. What do you think world navies think of the Saar class boats, etc, of the Israeli navy? They are not of the same league as most capital ships (carriers, cruisers, etc) but they pack a punch and are extremely effective. The Iranians are probably nowhere near as effective...but it may be enough.
14. Iranian submarine
RC ,   USA   (11.26.11)
For a second there I thought the picture was of Mickey Mouse getting into a sub at Disney. Hahaha, our torpedoes are bigger than their subs. They must be smoking some serious hash. Give it up Ahmad, before it's too late.
15. only 3 Iranian subs are a threat to Israel
zionist forever   (11.26.11)
The Ghadir Class are midgit submarines designed for local operations they do not have the range to reach Israel. The only real Iranian submarine threat Israel needs to worry about is the three Kilo Class subs Iran bought from Russia, I think the chances of the Ghadir Class being as advanced as a western submarines is low to zero. As for the idea of them being armed with torpedo and missiles are extremely unlikely, torpedos yes but missiles ... this is hardly an American nuclear submarine. The only countries that really need to worry about the Ghadir's are the likes of Saudi Arabia.
16. They could be a problem for Gulf shipping...
(11.26.11)
...for a few days, but their sonar signature would be huge -- that snorkel would be the submarine equivalent of a siren. More important, they would have no range and would have to surface to recharge their batteries. A drone would see the heat coming off the snorkel, and boom. But by then, they will have sunk a lot of oil tankers, sadly.
17. Do bunker busters work against subs?
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.26.11)
B7 hit! :^P
18. #13 SPOKEN LIKE A WISE MAN
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (11.26.11)
Well said Mr. Solomon of Brooklyn .One must never underestimate an enemy .You are so right. On first impression these subs do not look so impressive but iran may have many cards up their sleeves ,they are indeed very dangerous. I am not over-estimating iranian capabilities but neither must we underestimate anybody.
19. Iranian subs
Rafeek Hanna ,   Vancouver, Canada   (11.26.11)
As it will known all this war M/c is not for Israel at is only to thread the world pic and Arab countries, they will destroy all ships at the scions to hurt the world Economy
20. 3 Iranian submarines
Victor O. Teves ,   Philippines   (11.26.11)
You guys did not get it. Iran will load these submarines with full load of explosives, then the crew will jump out of the ships and swim back to Iran ,leaving these submarines floating in Persian Gulf.
21. LOL!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.26.11)
Oh, please. Israel owns the Persian Gulf. Don't these Iranian idiots realize that? Israel is all over the Gulf and the Straits of Hormuz. Best part? The Iranians have absolutely no idea, and -- even if they did -- they cannot stop us. They would need to find us first!
22. To: Solomon at No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.26.11)
Iranian subs do not run silently. They would be destroyed before they even knew what was happening. Israeli subs have been silently patroling the Persian Gulf and the Straits of Hormuz for a very, very long time. Oh! Did I forget to mention that Israeli subs have nuclear weapons aboard? Iran's toast. One or another way, the ayatollahs and the mullahs are going down. Probably sooner than later.
23. A Torpedo Missile Is,
Tony ,   brooklyn   (11.26.11)
A new form of torpedo that travels many hundreds of kilometers per hour underwater. Russia is trying to export this weapon but it is not the same variant used by Russia. Iranians claim to have made a version of this torpedo called the "Hoot" and another torpedo called the "Valfajr" (the dawn). As with any new technology from Iran one must be skeptical, their new Fighter Jet that flew successfully one time was just a conglomeration of spare parts of other planes. The Iranian cruise missile that was supposedly stealth was so stealth that no one ever saw it actually fly. There is no doubt that these small subs could harass shipping in the straights but their diminutive size only allows one torpedo per boat. Modern anti submarine warfare would make short work of these Ahmadinejad (tiny) subs.
24. So how about bibi cutting our defense
jason white ,   afula, israel   (11.26.11)
budget by another few billion shekels? That way we can please daffy the draft dodger and her gang. Israel needs to increase the defense budget and look for another source of subs.Or build them ourselves in partnership with India. And try to build our own combat aircraft.
25. It will be a long swim back

29. REALITY
pm ,   india   (11.27.11)
israel should have invested more in naval power like army and aiforce.I believe irans ability is restricted to hollow threats out of fear.Due to dismay they might try to bring destruction in a war with whatever meagre arsenal at their possesion.About cooperation with india in defence 99% of indian defence equiment s are either imported or collaborated with other countries including israel eventhough india claim indigenous.
30. Iranian Submarine
Joshua ,   USA   (11.27.11)
Is it just me or something is wrong with that picture? Looks like the people on deck are taller than the coning tower. Is this a "Midget Submarine" meant to float in a swimming pool on "Revolution Day"?
