1. So,let's repeat everybody: "Israel has no partner for peace"
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (11.28.11)
2. Why do they allow It ?
Ron Miller ,   Cerritos   (11.28.11)
They allow the attacks . The attacks are made from their neighborhoods Why dont they stop the terror ?? I dont believe it .
3. Well Sarah B...
Jonathan ,   MN/US   (11.28.11)
What do you have to say about this?
4. Hmm.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.28.11)
So over 40% appear to think that violence against the Jews is the way to go. Well, bring it on. Because six wars, seven decades of terror and two hapless intifadas have worked oh-so-well for you. Next time is the last time, and we'll be the ones left standing. The ersatz "Palestinians?" Not so much. Do keep that in mind before getting really stupid.
5. And another poll says....
Vlad   (11.28.11)
Palestinians consider the two-state solution the prelude to a one-state solution. Why else would most still support the so-called "right of return" for the so-called "Palestinian refugees"? They don't want armed conflict NOW because Operation Defensive Shield and the Gaza War showed them that in their current position, they are far more vulnerable to Israel than the other way around. They want to shell Israel's main population centers after getting the "1967 borders", deny Jews the right to pray at the Temple Mount, all the while demographically destroying Israel as "Palestinian refugees" stream in.
6. They better! Besides, these figures are
Israeli 2   (11.28.11)
not impressive. 56%???
7. Maybe one should work on bringing the percentage up
Norm ,   Minneapolis, MN, USA   (11.28.11)
Just think, maybe there IS a chance of winning the Arab street --- if you don't go out of your way to antagonize it.
8. But the settlers overwhelmingly want to fight.
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.28.11)
9. Somebody's trying (again and again) to sell me Abbas&Peace?!
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.28.11)
10. If True, Better Tell PA/Hamas
Dallas ,   Canada   (11.28.11)
Every other indication and bit of info and feedback coming out of the PA/Hamas and its public contradict the statistic claimed in this article. Must be an anomaly or at best the leadership of the PA/Hamas must be seriously out of step with its public. All indications point to the former.
11. Armed struggle was necessary to tell da world that we r here
Salma ,   Palestine   (11.28.11)
Between 1948 and the 1960′s palestinians tried the peaceful approach, and they achieved nothing, the west bank and Gaza was occupied by Egypt and Jordan at that time, until the PLO CAME AND LOADED THE FIRST BULLET. I truly believe that it’s in "Israel’s" interest to resume the armed struggle , but for us today there is no need for the armed struggle, but we need to build the institutions of Palestinian state and a functional economy. we are not the ones who rejected peace but it is "Israel" , PLO made a number of concessions for peace and get nothing for that. I do believe the voice of people is stronger than the voice of the gun.
12. #11 Salma
Dallas ,   Canada   (11.28.11)
PLO was formed in 1964 when there should have been no issue with the country you put in italics "Israel". Except for those driven by the Arab/Muslim obsession with eliminating Israel is it's the last thing they do. Why was Jordan and Egypt not consulted if there was any intent at that time to create an independent Arabist state in Gaza, Judea and Samaria? The farce of a concept of a peaceful state living side by side Israel unravels when one ponders that question.
13. Salma: no worry: WE'll tell da "world" when you're NOT here!
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.28.11)
14. and other poll says 70% of israelis
svietka   (11.28.11)
support death penalty for Fogel's murderers...so, the point of any poll is???
15. Every poll says something different.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (11.28.11)
They still fire rockets at us, and send people to bomb us. Until they have some sort of peace movement, someone pushing their governments towards peace, the conclusion is they all want to kill us.
16. Just some more useless propaganda!
Z.Z. Coltrane ,   USA   (11.28.11)
God bless Israel!
17. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.28.11)
Take a look one post beneath you.
18. #4
Jonathan ,   MN/US   (11.28.11)
You are aware that the polls are showing the number of supporters of violence against israel is FALLING.
19. #8 - where's your survey results?
William ,   Israel   (11.28.11)
I don't recall seeing a survey of settlers and their responses that would support your claim of "overwhelming" support to fight. And I sure as hell have never seen settlers sneaking into Arab homes at night to slice up families as they slept, or lobbing rockets into civilian areas.
20. #11 - what peaceful approach did "Palestinians" try?
William ,   Israel   (11.28.11)
Between 1920-1948, "Palestinians" led massacres against Jewish civilians all over the region. In 1948, the "Palestinians" and Arabs declared a genocidal war that would result in rivers of Jewish blood in the streets. In 1949, "Palestinians" with the help of Jordan ethnically cleansed Jews from their homes in Judea/Samaria and Arab-occupied Jerusalem and stole their property, filling it with foreign Arab immigrants. Between 1949-1967, the PLO led cross border attacks on Israeli civilians including attacking families as they slept. One of the major reasons for the 1967 war. You spread your terrorism to all parts of the world and before the 1970s begun, you introduced airline hijackings. You tried to take over another neighboring country. In 10 years, you were ingrained in yet another country where your terrorists not only carved our an autonomous region which is still a no-go area but terrorized average Lebanese citizens. What I'm trying to point out here is a 91 years long precedent of racist violence and terrorism based on a fake narrative. So where is this "peaceful approach" you are referring to?
21. #11 - you noted that Jordan and Egypt occupied it
William ,   Israel   (11.28.11)
and yet, you didn't turn one bullet against Egypt or Jordan, nor did you declare yourselves separate of these two countries. So, you can see how full of crap your paradoxical narrative truly is.
22. THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE.
SJOERD RUURD VDV ,   MULTIVERSE   (11.28.11)
THAT COULD BE A SMART DECISION OF THE MAJORITY OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE. VIVA THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE AND IMMEDIATELY THEY ALSO HAVE ALL THE RIGHT OF AN OWN STATE RIGHT NOW!!!!!
23. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.11)
It needs to fall a lot lower, ace, before it becomes thoughtworthy to me. Sorry. Oh, by the way -- how many friends and family members have YOU lost due to ersatz "Palestinian" terrorism? Hmm? How many? Well, wasn't your answer predictable! You seriously need to shut up.
24. To: No. 22
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.11)
Of course you do realize that the REAL Palestinians are the Jews, don't you? You need look no further than multiple centuries of Ottoman records and British mandate records. The ersatz "Palestinians" -- who cannot claim anything besides violence and terrorism co-opted a centuries-old Jewish identity. The Jews are the real Palestinians. Nomadic Bedouins are EXACTLY that -- nomadic Bedouins. They need to get the hell out of the Jewish state. By the way -- have you somehow missed the part where the ersatz "Palestinians" have had no fewer than three opportunities for a state of their own? They rejected them all. Contemplate the fact that they are fresh out of chances. The recent failed venture at the United Nations should have taught you that. Have you been paying attention, or are you too deeply steeped in your drunken and drugged haze? Being Dutch and all .... not beyone the realm of possibility (to say nothing of likelihood!). Gotta stay out of those marijuana and heroin cafes, poet man .....
25. No partner for peace
Dr. Denis MacEoin ,   Newcastle, UK   (12.02.11)
Michael Steiner makes an elementary mistake. It's not just the Palestinians, it's the Arab world in general; and it's not just the Arab world, it's the Islamic world. Muslims have never forgiven the 'wicked' Jews for establishing a state on what had been Muslim territory. Even now, Mahmoud Abbas will not recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Beyond him, comments about Israel made by leading (and successful) Islamist parties across North Africa make it clear that peace is not on the agenda. I suggest Michael read Saving Israel by Daniel Gordis, a very lucid statement on what Israelis have to do to diminish the effects of an anti-peace position among their neighbours.
26. Salma
Denis MacEoin ,   Newcastle, UK   (12.02.11)
Salma, between 1948 and 1960, there were numerous terrorist attacks against Israel. Things just got worse when the PLO came into being. You are right to talk of building the Palestinian state and economy, but deeply wrong to say that the Palestinians never rejected peace. That is flatly untrue. Ther cases when Israel gave up land and made huge concessions only to be spurned are numerous. In 2000 at Camp David, Yasir Arafat was given 97% of the West Bank, plus land elsewhere to make up for the 3%, he had a chance to make peace leading to help in all areas fro Israel, and he walked away and started the second intifada. There has never been a move from the Palestinians since then, never a positive response to generous offers. You Palestinians have a simple choice: continue the armed struggle and destroy your lives in perpetuity or put down your arms, recognize Israel as a Jewish state, and make a permanent peace. In twenty years time, you will live like Arabs anywhere and enjoy good relations with one of the most powerful countries for science, technology, education and much else. But please don't delude yourselves that the PLO has made concessions.
