29 Talkbacks for this article
1. This is nothing but...
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (11.29.11)
...barak and other unelected czars attempting to suppress criticism of their treasonous, self-serving disregard of the people whom they are meant to be serving. This law is worthy of communist China or Iran. It is these bills which are killing Israeli democracy...not the bills that the left is screaming murder over.
2. ..... what?
Deebo ,   Holon   (11.29.11)
No seriously. Nobody likes slanderous remarks but stop breaking the Internet.
3. I now PROMISE, to never make any
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (11.29.11)
inappropriate comments on the internet...
4. I agree with #1
Keren ,   IL-BR   (11.29.11)
This is an attempt to muzzle people. This bill should not pass. Israel is a little country and open criticism is vital for its (healthy) surviving. This freedom can not be taken away from Israel lest it incurres in a vital danger.
5. VPN is the answer, folks.
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (11.29.11)
6. i think those who want this bill are retarded . now
abdalla   (11.29.11)
come get me guys
7. Hi Adam #1
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.29.11)
Gam ve'gam...
8. A little bit of good, but mostly bad
Henry from New York ,   USA   (11.29.11)
A good deal of talkbacks all over the net are filled with childish cursing and ad hominem remarks on the subject without any actual substance. It would be nice to see less of that, but as has been said this bill is an infringement on the rights of the people. No matter how ineffective it is, it is still a horrible law that could be the launching point for further restrictions. This bill is a slap in the face to every Israeli.
9. commenting on the comments
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (11.29.11)
There is a reason, why I always (okay, almost always) give my full name, place of residence and my e.mail address with my talkbacks. Sometimes I forget my e.mail address. Now, you may be able to figure out why! I say, that I openly confess! It's me! I am sick of all this unqualified rants, posted by so many readers here. Most of you add no value at all! You only dump your garbage!
10. Haredim will make a fortune!
Robert ,   NY USA   (11.29.11)
11. #9
Henry from New York ,   USA   (11.29.11)
Can't disagree with a man from Bayern, especially when he is correct.
12. # 9
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.29.11)
And you dont ''dump your garbage" ?? LOL! You leave your name & e mail because you are looking for a future Israeli husband.
13. Talkbacks of very uneven quality
David N. ,   Haifa, ISRAEL   (11.29.11)
There are great talkbacks, humourous ones, opinionated one, all good. But some people do immediately go for the jugular, and are personally insulting almost automatically. Talkbacks have essentially been spoiled. Not that they are likely a representative sampling of our society, either at English language online papers, or the main Hebrew language press. Lots of childishness is tiresome.
14. # 9
Keren. ,   Israel   (11.29.11)
No one is forcing you to read posts here, the same as no one is forcing you to post your talkbacks here. There are many German news websites that would accept your posts.
15. # 11
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.29.11)
Henry dear, should your post not be directed at # 3 & not # 9 ?
16. #11 Henry, maybe it's me, but I thought Yael was female.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.29.11)
17. #12, #14, #15
Henry from New York ,   USA   (11.29.11)
12 and 14 kind of prove his point. It is good if at least a few people can stay on topic and make useful remarks in what is otherwise a sea of ad hominem attacks and conspiracy hypotheses. #15, Raubling is a town in Bayern, also known as Bavaria.
18. # 17
Keren. ,   Israel   (11.29.11)
Oh so now Yael is a male?
19. #16 and #18
Henry from New York ,   USA   (11.30.11)
As I'm sure you both know, a lot of Hebrew names have become unisex in recent years so it is hard to tell these days just by a name. However if I did indeed refer to Yael by the wrong sex, then I must say to her, <> It's kind of beside the point though guys. It's another example of how talkbackers often seem to ignore the central point.
20. :-)
J.Gad ,   Israel   (11.30.11)
Nicknames: J.Gad, Dketerstov's Nationality: israeli some of my hobbies: sketching, painting, drawing, writing, music, photography, languages, reading, and sometimes talkbacks and forums of opinions. internet: cnn, bbc, prensa, le monde, ynet, jpost, la aurora, haaretz, etc. Languages: Hebrew, spanish, english, and a little of french and portugues... Blogs:I want to create a blog, but later. Now am busy. Age: too intelligent to look for a husband in a talkback. My favorite quote: "if you dont have a clear definition, you have said nothing" ip: i have no idea if the server provides to me an ip. I guess, yes. I love Israel and you?
21. I think about three or four people
Devorah   (11.30.11)
are responsible for many of the posts here using different names. One, in particular, made a major slip-up a while back. This person plays complete opposites in terms of points of view and, also, this person plays different genders.
22. to #18 Maybe she had a sex change
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.30.11)
operation? Ask Chaz Bono.
23. Sarah B Israel/you wish
John ,   Hamilton, ON   (11.30.11)
I guess the government has had enough of your verbal diarrhea.
24. Easy Way Around Law
Beth Goodtree ,   NYC, USA   (11.30.11)
If, G-d forbid, this Draconian anti-Freedom-of-speech law passes, an easy way around it is to always preface one's remarks as being in your opinion. Even this law does not permit lawsuits for mere opinions, just things stated as fact,
25. This is a s
Jake Stone ,   USA   (11.30.11)
26. Talk about Big Brother...this is just plain stupid!
Taz Man ,   USA   (11.30.11)
God bless Israel!
27. Or,...the various news entities...
Gideon Reader ,   Talkback Central   (11.30.11)
...could simply say that they are no longer going to have a "talkback", (what the public is thinking) feature as part of their news product. Or even reduce the total number of lines allowed for a talkback response, a la a form of tweet for twits. Schoen. Fartig. Solved my Dear Rofeh Watson. A huge kelev that squeaked, instead of barking. Instead of lucid, enduring responses to a particulat subject which may have a passion rousing core, the "talkback drones" will be reduced to a tourette outburst in twenty five words of less. And how long will such goofiness last.
28. Maybe as a part of the slander law...
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (11.30.11)
there should be a clause that politicians cannot sue for slander/libel. In the US it is very hard for famous people to be able to win a case, so they usually dont bother trying. I dont want to trash famous performers who are just earning a living from singing or acting and certainly not private people, but the country's leaders have to be fair game in the media. Anyone who wants to be in politics has to have a thick skin.
29. 22
Keren. ,   Israel   (12.01.11)
Maybe she swings both ways ?
