1. What is the cost of this device and its ordinance
Henry from New York ,   USA   (11.30.11)
Compared to a Russian-made RPG? Unless Israel engages in a battle against an army with armoured vehicles, anti-tank weapons won't be of much use, and there is little they can do that the Air Force's planes cannot. I hope they won't waste too much money on building any significant quantity.
2. Thanks for your armchair advice
Gil ,   Haifa, Israel   (11.30.11)
Thanks Henry for providing advice to the IDF from your armchair in new york. As someone who likely never served in the military, you wouldn't know that anti-tank weapons can be used for many things, not just hitting enemy tanks. Likewise, your ideal that "the air force will save the day" was proven wrong in the 2006 lebanon war. Best stick to new york politics from here on out, because you know nothing about how things work in Israel.

Whilst the missiles should not be wasted on terrorists it is needed. Conventional warfare is always something the IDF needs to be prepared for. The IDF is more than an anti terror force which is something that was forgotten before Lebanon 2006 which is why the budget was cut year in year out. Right now conventional war is a bigger risk than it has been in decades thanks to the arab spring. We don't know what form the new Egyptian government will take or what its policies will be. King Abdullah is at risk of being overthrown by the countries palestinian majority and if that happens the army may be under the command of palestinians. When he gets desperate Assad might start a war with Israel in the hope he can come out of it a hero. We need a well equipped army not a glorified police force.
4. reverse effect anticipated
noname ,   dark side of the moo   (11.30.11)
As a result, I would anticipate an increased rate of terrorists hiding behind civilians. I would also expect someones pockets filled with more cash due to increased amount of missiles that need to get acquire. None of that relates to security. They do not understand and appreciate it. What they do understand is a firepower projected to their respective clan. Appeasing Europe's left wing to protect Israelis officers from unlawful arrests when traveling abroad, that this thing addresses is not a panacea. An attempt to an arrests should be met with different means, by denying them legitimacy, or risk ending up as Rhodesia and now SA.
5. The IDF knows its business.
Spencer ,   Israel   (11.30.11)
All this "brilliant "advice from people who obviously are completely clueless about the subject on which they profess to give advice! Ha ha
6. Weapons Sales
Sid ,   NY US   (11.30.11)
Even if (hypothetically) Henry from NY is correct there are many armies in the world (such as India's) which face tanks on the battlefield. They might be interested in buying this missile. No, they WILL be interested in buying.

moti ,   usa   (11.30.11)
roughly around 500,000 shekels as of 2006 probably a little cheaper today due too mass production
