Whist Israel is not a member of NATO if they wan't a missile shield for the Middle East Israel would be a good place to put it. Israel already operates the most advanced missile defense system on the market which NATO can take advantage of both in the short term before they can set up their own system and long term as an extra layer of defense. For a price Israel would be willing to protect anybody NATO wants it to protect. Its beneficial to Israel because it has the extra layer of defense coming from the NATO system and NATO will end up contributing a large part of the cost to protect Israel. Israeli political attitudes are more inline with the US & Europe than they are with Turkey. Everybody is a winner, even Turkey which no longer has to worry about their Iranian ally attacking them because they are providing the missile shield for NATO.
