emanon ,   USA   (12.01.11)
The EU as almost as oil thirsty as the US and has even less of a domestic supply.

3. DON'T TALK NONSENSE
URBAN POET ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (12.01.11)
EU banning oil from Iran or sanctions against oil will cripple Europe and the europeans know it. Europe would be commiting suicide if it were to ban iranian oil. So talk of the sanctions is total nonsense.
4. #3 URBAN POET Why Couldn't They Strike A
(12.01.11)
Deal with Canada Their Oil Is Just As Good isn't it? The u.s.a. gets more oil from Canada than opec?
5. Oil poor Euorope
Sam Tayar ,   montreal   (12.01.11)
"the population of Iran that is not responsible for the politics there". Who are they? I thought 95-100% of voters backed the present government..............

Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.01.11)
And what inexpensive method allows that oil to reach the US in large amounts?
7. EU only gets 17% of its oil from Iran
Scott ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (12.01.11)
Iran only produces 5% of the world's oil, 1/2 as much as the U.S. An EU oil embargo would not cause a steep rise in oil prices & they could easily find alternative sources. Iran is also dependent on other countries for refining oil into gasoline because they economy is so backwards. Iran is a big producer of natural gas.
8. #6 Henry I Didn't Say It Would Be Cheap
(12.01.11)
did I? Anyways Stay Home With your family and Prepare them for the Future, as I do. Personally I would rather Ride A Horse to work and TELL opec TO DRINK THEIR OIL!!!! How bout that BUCKO???
9. IRAN AND THE EUROPIAN UNION-WESTERN WORLD.
SJOERD RUURD VDV ,   MULTIVERSE   (12.02.11)
THE EUROPEAN UNION-THE WESTERN WORLD IN THAT CASE SHOULD MIND IT''S OWN EUROPEAN-WESTERN WORLD, INTERNAL, DOMESTIC BUSINESS WITHIN IT''S OWN EUROPEAN-WESTERN WORLD TERRITORY AND LET THE IRANIAN PEOPLE AND THE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION TO SETTLE AND TO SOLVE ONE AND SOME OTHER SITUATION (ALSO FOR THE ENTIRE MANKIND ONCE AND FOR ALWAYS AND SO ON...).
10. Reality Checks
spyguy ,   Seattle USA   (12.02.11)
(1) oil is fungible and flows to the highest bidder (2) Iran can easily "whitewash" their oil through Iraq (3) the global supply of oil is ONLY SLIGHTLY more than the global demand (4) If Europe doesn't want Iranian oil, it will have to bid higher than anyone else for the non-Iranian oil, driving up the global oil price for everyone (there is NO SPARE CAPACITY in Saudi Arabia - the production data for the last five years indicates the Saudi fields are at peak production (5) In the end, Europe and the US will lose this spitting contest and Israel will be even worse off. (6) Iran has successfully checkmated the US, UK, EU and Israel
11. iran oil embargo
joel ,   usa   (12.02.11)
well, let russia & communist china "sucked" all the oil of Iran, but the oil embargo is the best sanction for the terrorist Iran, OK?
12. So where does Iran go from here?
Tim ,   Brighton   (12.02.11)
Even once diehard supporters of the regime are questioning this game of 'power politics' and 'war of words' Ahmedinejad is playing Whilst his rhetoric may be regarded as 'harmless hot air' as one Ahmadinejad apologist recently claimed..the rest of the world takes his threats very very seriously and owe it to their publics to prepare for any eventuality As on commentator in Teheran said on a Tweet...Ahmadinejad has painted Iran into a dangerous corner. The best way out is to get Ahmadinejad the architect of this mess to fall on his sword and for Iran to cionduct new elections that include the greens and moderates. Which could give Iran the opportunity to come back from the cold to interact with the global community and promote regional stability
13. 12 - Tim you really have been brainwashed
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (12.02.11)
The REALITY is the "greens" are a miniscule part of the total electorate in Iran. Sure, they get lots of air-time in western press because they speak English and look good on camera, but there is a very real reason they LOST - they do NOT appeal to most of the people in Iran. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2009_Iranian_Votes.png) Even if there are early elections (already scheduled for 2013), the "greens" will still lose. Note also that the "moderates" ALL SUPPORT the Iranian nuclear program! Dreaming about "regime change" in Iran is a fantasy
