50 Talkbacks for this article
31. #7 5th Generation : Corruption rife here
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (12.02.11)
Living here a year , we encountered more corruption than we have in over 50 years in UK. Welcome to Israel, an acceptance of a corrosive social disease greet any complaint. and no entity accepts responsibility if it can avoid it. If that is down to Supreme Court, then I would agree with you
32. to #8
viennese ,   vienna   (12.02.11)
learn history: 1. hitler came NOT to power by elections 2. most of the germans did not care about jews (nevertheless there were enough to do what "needed" to be done)
33. Beinish had Rabbi Kahane banned
Nonny   (12.02.11)
It is not forgotten how In 1988, then left wing Deputy State Attorney Dorit Beinish made strange bedfellows with then right wing Likud lawyer Ehud Olmert to work together with might and main to have Rabbi Meir Kahane's Kach Party, which was set to win 12 Knesset seats, banned from the elections on spurious grounds of "racism": such is "democracy" in Israel!
34. Democracy? Hmmmmmmmmmmm!
Ayeush ,   Gibraltar   (12.02.11)
Its too rich for Justice Beinish to cry wolf 'democratic values of the State' are being undermined by'number of politicians, Knesset members and even government ministers' Think of it, what a Hutzpah, actaually they were elected to follow her dictums; isn't the essence of democracy to allow one branch to hyjack thelegislative Branch?!!. For quite a while the average Israel citizen is feeling that something isn't working with the dessimination of JUSTICE in this country, at all level. The citizen was not waiting for the Knesset to articulate his frustration on the subject, he sees its result on the streets, at home and evn in schools. The knesset is good when in general reflects the wishes and the end desires of the collective electorat, or the majority of it. The most respectful Justice Beinish is missing the mark, and is blaming the public for her actual shortcomings.
35. Radical LEFTIST Dorit Beinish needs to be removed! !
(12.02.11)
36. talkbacks
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.02.11)
Reading the talkbacks here, I am dismayed by the prospect that Egypt is going to be the only democracy in the Middle East
37. to #33 It was either Time or Newsweek
jason white ,   afula, israel   (12.02.11)
that predicted that the Kach party would be the third biggest party in the knesset. That is what the labor and likud feared. Loss of power to another party. Where is the left wing deputy attorney general and a right wing likud lawyer to go after the anti Zionist parties of the left, arab and hara-dim today? Their absence is destroying us. Or is it racism when talking against arabs, but not against Jews, Zionism and the state of Israel? Isn't it racism to side with those that want to kill every Jew? Also for our enemies to use the courts for matters of defense and for the courts to side with the killers of Jews. We should remake the court system into one the in ZC(Zionist Correct) and not PC for the approval of the world.
38. More proof of how undemocratic the SC is
Dov Samoun ,   France   (12.02.11)
D.B. proves once more, if needed, how dictatorial The israeli supreme court has turned to be under the reign of her own self and t her mentor Barak. She's attacking the legislative power for doing the job it is mandated to do. There's no area where the SC hasn't used and extended all it's discretionary powers (the military, the territorial integrity of Israel, ministers, knesset members and legislations... Beinish/Barak's supreme court can shoot at range on any one in the country who does not "fit" their view of the world and interests. There's no country in the world where the required separation of power is so obviously lacking. Bibi's enthousiastic support for the "new idols of Israel" follows a shameless invitation by the Weinstein to do so.. Surrealist !
39. Is DB joking, confused or cynical?
David B. ,   Jerusalem   (12.02.11)
while confirming once more that she spits on democracy's fundamentals (here the separation of powers), DB pretends to be THE victim or future victim of incitement !! Yeah, typical. From the oligarch or dictotor's point of view, people, readers, targets are just a bunch of easily manipulable dummies
40. Cool off. She is looking for a job in some forein university
(12.02.11)
So, she votes Hadash or Meretz. Does this matter now?
41. YES #33! I have not forgotten it either.
Israeli 2   (12.02.11)
42. The leftists
trev ,   Canada   (12.02.11)
Its strange but in high school I knew kid who was really anti-semetic, he saw Jewish conspiracies everywhere. He was also highly intelligent and charismatic, this combined with his twisted ideas scared me. He spoke about Jews the same way many of the talk backers her speak about the left. I understand now that it's not Jews, Christians, Muslems, the left, the right or anything else that is the problem. It's that people seem to hate what is different.
43. Beinish, time to go home !! (End)
Nora Tel Aviv   (12.02.11)
44. The shoe!
Ariel ,   Europe   (12.02.11)
Where's the second magic shoe? It may turn a spiteful witch into a beautiful princess!
45. Wow, some of you need to look up the term DEMOCRACY!
Noa   (12.02.11)
Democracy is NOT only the rule of the masses. It does not work without democratic values, otherwise Hamastan was a particularly wonderful democracy. The supreme court has to stand next to the knesset independetly, just as ethical values are independent from the ruling groups. By the way, #5, the police is the excecutive force of the ruling power, not of the court. How can people possibly be so stupid? Or is it ideology that is making them bling?
46. #45: so vain and arrogant
Stupid 45 ,   Europe   (12.02.11)
Like the protagonist of this article, #45 you don't seem able to judge others. talkbackers are stupid? Just to show up the bit of partialknowledge you can show? I'm amazed by the intellectual insigt and historical knowledge of most of the talkbackers. you won't find such high level talkbacks in Europe. Am Israel is obviously not stupid and easily manipulable eventhough the oligarchy seems to feed itself with the opposite - erroneous - perception .
47. write a comment in 45 to answer it with 46
lol   (12.02.11)
same author
48. #47 your comment is unintelligible
#47   (12.02.11)
Your comment is so deep and mysterious, it is unintelligible. Feel free to express yourself. It will relieve you of anger, fear, etc.
49. Bias
michael Pielet ,   israel   (12.02.11)
The high court is biased against Judaism, Zionism, the rights of Jews to live in the land of our forefathers, Judea and Samaria, and Sephardim, who were President. The high court is in favor of arabs, arab rights, and the release of terrorists who murdered jews. The high court's record speaks for itself. The high court does not represent Israeli society, only those elements that wish to destroy Judaism and the jewish state.
50. the court
michael Pielet ,   israel   (12.02.11)
Since israel is a jewish state let's put some real Jews and Zionists on the court. The court also needs charedi representation.
