First of all, the United States and the middle east have their own BIG issues, with or without Israel's existence, but that's another story. A two-state solution is the right thing to do (although some would say it should wait until the Palestinian elections, so that they have a united government), but it may not lead to instant peace as many expect. War or violence for a period - even from civilians - is a serious possibility. Face it: The creation of two independent states won't necessarily make them like each other. Considering their history in the region (which is more complex than most Americans "get" - including some American Jews), it probably won't. Sadly, the fence may even have to stay up for a bit. (or a new one along the decided borders) But who says they HAVE to like each other? Should Israel should go for it, anyway?
