5. Meet the new Egypt. Worse than the old Egypt.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (12.04.11)
To claim that the Islamic ascendancy won't affect the peace treaty strains credibility. Will a more Islamic Egypt restrict the flow of arms to Gaza, or fight Islamic terrorists in the Sinai? Will they refrain from attacking Israel in public forums? They won't. But the country's economic problems don't lend themselves to Islam as "the answer" - Egypt's poverty and joblessness, its inability to feed themselves, and the country's diminishing reserves of foreign currency needed to buy food. Expect more "blame Israel" and "blame the Jews" talk as the country sinks into the abyss.

They asked me something about the Choclate brands.I advised them. Then I asked them where they hailed from. "Egypt". they said.. Thats great. You are welcome. Then I asked them what was going on in Cairo regarding the Tahrir Sq thing. Without any prompt one said to me STRAIGHT OUT "You are Jew so you worried" They said "Dont worry because MB are supported by only 15% of Egyptians . Same as our reporter friend in article ... Its TAKIYA
7. Realities demands people eat bread
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (12.04.11)
To do that, they will need some form of order and stability. Tourism back, good behaviour so they do not antagonise tyhe USA, civil attitude to Israel to help them ease the food crisis, Anything short of that behaviour will resulyt in perhaps 5m deaths from starvation
8. Two restraints on the Egyptian regime

Oh yeah!(not now,you mean right?) I have just read that Hamas is a filial of MB. These arabs have a quality that they use for bad( extremely bad) and this quality is that they are not precipitated. They are cunning(in the worst sense of the word)and don't lose their (bad) heads. They ,calmly, with time,go after their (evil)goals.
11. Congratulations

to the courageous people of Egypt . You are an inspiration to people all around the world.
12. Peace treaty with Egypt.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (12.04.11)
It is a nice situation, when your enemy's knife on your throat, but it says no reason for anxiety, won't cut. How could you believe for a pseudo antisemite ( Carter ) and a self hating jew ( Kissinger ) to make the so called " peace treaty " with Egypt ??
13. I wouldn't put money on that being the case for long
zionist forever   (12.04.11)
Once the islamist government get settled they will deal with the important politics and for now tell the Americans what they want to hear and then when they are more settled then the islamist ideology will surface. They can use the palestinians as an excuse to tear up the treaty anytime and one day they probably will.
14. Sure Thing...we believe you.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (12.04.11)
The moderates are taking over in Egypt.

something soothing for the Egyptian Copts! Maybe now they won't leave the country in thousands, as before.
16. false comfort
AH ,   finland   (12.04.11)
I feel sad that some people wants to so badly to comfort themselves with false information. Muslims in control and you don't have nothing to worry about...
17. repudiaiotn of oslo
mohson   (12.05.11)
repudicaiotn of oslo is a total rejiection of peres since he and beiln brought in the cursed oslo proposal to convert the terror into a civilized association. Peres was never voted PM in adirect election and israelis don't trust him. he continues to advance his rubbish and israelis of all stripes know him for the failure he is.

john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (12.05.11)
You really don't understand the ME situation."evacuate all occupied Palestinian lands"-do you realize Jordan is occupied by 80% of "Palestinians"?Think fool. Egypt has enormous problems right now -they are never ever be in a position to demand anything of Israel concerning the "Palestinians". Why do you bother to post on a Jewish site?Do you think that any Jews will agree with you?Fool!
19. ...as long as military remains in power.
Merca ,   Barcelona.SPAIN   (12.05.11)
20. Likely telling the truth
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (12.05.11)
This is likely a truthful analysis. Not because of Egyptian love of fairness or adherence to honor but because ultimately it would be catastrophic for Egypt to abrogate the treaty. It would cause immensely greater harm to Egypt than to Israel, politically and economically. Egyptians are poor on average, but they remember being a whole lot poorer before the treaty. I am not saying it is impossible, just improbable. Egyptians are not Arab, nor are they Iranians. I believe that economic sensibilities and not religious ones will utimately will win the day.
21. Peace treaty with Israel won't be revoked
rina50 ,   Haifa, Israel   (12.05.11)
We should wait and see what will be after ellection. Something telling me Egypt new gouvermant would have too much problems, than think about Peace treaty with Israel. Something telling me that they have allot problems and before they do something about them, there would be no changes in Egypt Israel relationship. Let them eat the cake named "democracy" and see what they got from Islamist they vote for. I can bet they will soon return to their favorite place which called Tahrir Square to demand from new gouvermant what they wants. I don't think the new elected gouvermant can just wave with magic wand to make them all rich and happy. Egypt there for the long and hard road to rebuild the life they already ruined and it would be not easy, especially now.
22. Ben, #20: Not if they cut a deal...
FrumiousFalafel ,   USA   (12.06.11)
To Ben Chutzlaaretz (note #20 entitled "Likely telling the truth"): uhh, you are the 2nd or 3rd person among many who hold this view. However just look back in history and realize that the Egyptians CAN IGNORE the USA *IF* they cut a deal WITH THE RUSSIANS (as was done before!) Hell, they could even cut a deal with the Chinese & the Russians. Then they'd have aid to feed their soon to be starving & screaming masses -- allowing them to tear up the Peace Treaty.
