32. Haredim playing with fire or Yair Lapid playing with fire
rina50 ,   Haifa, Israel   (12.06.11)
Last time I notice that leftis get a new tactic. They started to attack Israel haredim with no reasons. Haredim live by their religiouse rulles for many years and suddenly it's became not right for leftis. They atack them in articles, like they have right to do it. Everyone in the world knew, that Israel is religiouse country, but suddenly for left seculars it's became not right. I don't understand what they want to gain from this attacks beside more devide allready devided Israel society. Do you think they care about haredim women? I don't think so. They just want to attack everyone, who live a different life than leftist seculiars. I am not religiouse person, but I can live with religiouse people around me, why Yair Lapid can't? Why people who live in USA have right to believe in any religion they wants, and live the way they like, but in Israel they can't. Why Amish comminity in USA live the way they lived 200 years ago and nobody demand them to start to live modern life? Because they protected by Constitution and by law in democratic USA, so why our religiouse people didn't protected from the likes like Yair Lapid? He said Jewish religiouse women treated like wormen in Iran. It's the same BS as leftis said that Israel is apartaid. Israel is not Iran. In Iran or in many Muslim countries women can't vote, drive and do many things. If they do something, which is against Sharia's law they get killed by stones. In Israel if religiouse women want out of religiouse community, she can get out and nobody would kill her for this. By the way Israel secular man abuse women not less, than religiouse ones. How many times I read articles how some idiot killed his wife and kids in Israel? Many times. So secular men in Israel is not much different than haredim men. It's not haredim, who played with fire. It's Yair Lapid, who do it, using Israel media for his own gain. Maybe Israel need a law, which would protect any religiouse person in Israel and their right to live the way they choose. Religiouse women choose this life and it's not up to Yair Lapid to critisise their life choices. There is worse things in the world than having to ride in different with men busses. There is a corruption, terrorism and Palestinians bombs, which can kill innocent people. But this things is not interesting with the likes as Yair Lapid. He is more concern with haredim women rights than with anything else. Why he suddenly became such a womens rights activist? And why he start to critisise them just now? He lived in Israel all his life and he just notice, that haredim women have problems in rights department? Maybe Yair Lapid can explaine us why he wrote this article now, but not for example 20 years ago?

You are right; you didn't explain your point very well. Something each of does once in a while.
34. #16. Gene Simmons has better chance of being P.M. than Lapid
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.06.11)
#16. There is no doubt that Lapid plans a political career. However, he is part of the political left, which is being voted out of existence. Kiss front man, Gene Simmons has a better chance of being P.M. than Lapid. Simmons seldom speaks about Israel but, when he does, he usually makes much more sense than Lapid.
35. Mr. Yair Lapid
rina50 ,   Haifa, Israel   (12.06.11)
Can you answere me, why you suddenly became so concern about Jewish religiouse womens rights, and have no concer about women's rights in Islamist Gaza or West Bank. Why you want to critisie just Jews religion and keep your mouth shut about Ilam religion and their treeat of women. Double standart is not a good thing, especially for the man who want to be a politic. The man who hate his own religion and his own nation, have no political future in Israel.
36. so what if it is written

Interesting that you chose the yarmulke as an example. In 1750 the rabbi Uriya (The ARI)was sent a letter from a community as to whether a man who does not wear a kippah cantestify in a Jewish court. The responza was that he had never seen any reference to a kippah in any of the Talmudic sources. And in any case, if this was the determining criteria for judging a man's honesty, than he knows of many in his community (israel at the time) who were never seen without a head covering whom were untrustworthy. Further that he would not mind going places without a kippah, but the community would not appreciate it.

I remember once a certain woman asked a question to some Rabbi: "Why is it that women pray behind men in synagogue? Isn't it humiliating?" The Rabbi answered:"Imagine a man praying behind the woman....what will he be thinking about: G-d or sex? It is not "humiliating" rather acknowledging the power the woman has over the man!" I only want to add that those who don't understand this simple logic have lost their libido long time ago. Religious people acknowledge this power of sex, drive between men and women, they acknowledge the spontaneous fire passing between men and women in any place at any time. That's all.

You write regarding their attitude towards "their women" (your words)? That's the essence of the problem, mate. To you and them: Women are people. They are the property of no one.
42. For once, I hope that Mr. Lapid is right.
Ayelet HaShachar ,   Maale Adummim   (12.07.11)
I am religious and I can't stand what is happening. I am afraid for my daughters that this country will turn into Afghanistan. Never, you say? As the secular abandon the state for western countries and the haredim take over with their high birth rates and violent coercive conduct in the name of G-d and Torah, I don't think its an unrealistic possibility.
43. Besalel, #22, and others
Ed Codish ,   Pardessiya, Israel   (12.07.11)
Besalel, you write: "Respect for each other's values means exactly this: women should be allowed to sing from any stage but any religious soldier can choose not to attend." If only this were true! In fact, walking out (or not attending on sexist grounds) on a woman singing is showing absolute lack of respect for the very basic value of sexual equality. Lapid does not contort truth here. If you have a value of sexual segregation, even if it is only in regard to kol isha, I, and others, feel no need to respect that value. Ed Codish Pardessiya
44. Yair Lapid~Opportunist
Bruria   (12.07.11)
Interesting to note that the "hate" posts about haredim are similar to the anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, anti-Semitic rants over the years. It comes from those who repeat rumors and don't seek truth. There are bad apples in the haredi world--but there are a whole lot in the secular world as well. So what if religious people "choose" to sit separate in shul? Yair Lapid is trying to enter politics and has no compunction about throwing anybody under the bus~the haredim are a much easier target than say, terrorists, or Israel hating NGO's. Who knows what group he will pounce on next~maybe the homeless...
45. Yair wants to incite a war
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (12.07.11)
He imagines himself as some kind of Hellenist hero, who will defile the Temple and destroy those G-D worshipping barbarians once and for all!

Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (12.08.11)
(the haters) write nonsense again. Absolutely in the spirit of hospitalized. Whatever write Lapid always will find people to insult him personally and unreasonable. Wanting to enter into policy is not a crime. Policy is a temporary taking of responsibility (for many others), to be responsible for the future (of many others). If you think it’s so easy try and you. #35 Lapid is leftist (different from us rightist) but hi is not “a man who hate his own religion and his own nation”.
47. Haredim Playing With Fire
Natalie Wood ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.21.11)
Lapid is 1001% correct. In my view the Haredim commit the three cardinal sins routinely: they adulterate Torah; make idols of their leaders and ridiculous ritual and thereby murder the peace in Israeli society.
