Discrimination is very common and self-defense is also common. Belgium is densely populated, which is a well known cause for discrimination. People are elbowing each other for living space in Belgium. Defend yourself and you'll make it, for now. Self defense by any mean, including emigration to Israel, are acceptable, for now. She might not be considered Jewish by Halachah, but having at least ONE grandparent Jewish (doesn't matter which side and if it's a grandmother or a grandfather), she is eligible already to make Aliyah. When i was a kid and teenager (20-30 years ago), i already experienced the same in Holland. That is a very sad story. Sad from more than one side; hate , bigotry, misinformation and hypocrisy. That should never happen to a 13 years old child, in Belgium or any were else for that matter. It's Hypocritical, because we feel the need to complain about this kind of behavior when it happen to an innocent Jewish girl, but we keep silent when the Israeli gov, soldiers and Jewish American fanatic settlers do that day in day out to the Palestinians on their own land for the last 62 years. We need to look at ourselves, before we look at others. If we don't like it, then we should not do it to others, when we feel protected by an army. Dignity ,fairness and honor should apply to all.
