If Israel prefers quality, they better import workers from Western-European countries. Bulgarians and Romanians are still used to the communist way of working.

Why do we need to import laborers? Pay decent wages and people will work. Why doesn't the Histadrut object?

because Jewish workers maybe called up for reserve duty. A friend of mine was fired because of that. The contractors should be required to hire Israelis first. Anyone discriminating against a reservist should be fined and thrown in prison for a few months.

Unfortunately, this is a generational progression among a lot of ethnic groups. For instance, in New York, there used to be skilled Italian immigrants working as bricklayers and stone masons. But try to find one now. Their kids all want to be lawyers and accountants...the same as the Jews.. Also, at one time, there were a lot of Jewish boxers and basketball players. But now how many Jewish parents want their kid to get into the boxing ring and possibly get the crap beaten out of himself? These days the closest closest most of them will get to professional sports is usually as broadcasters and sports attorneys.

Bulgarians and Romanian might be used with the communist way of working but also with the communist way of paying. If you want quality, you pay more. Housing prices in Israel are exorbitant as they are, with expensive labor they will be completly out of reach.
