1. strike was a response to the firing of five rockets
observer ,   Egypt   (12.09.11)
in response to the unprovoked murder of two Palestinians during truce time.
2. What "truce"?!? #1 observes nothing.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (12.09.11)
There is no truce, and your observation powers are in need of remedial work if you think so. Hamas and Jihad have never agreed to a truce nor to a ceasefire. They refuse to use those words - both in English and in Arabic. The only term they agree to is "lull" - you should know that if you are a true observer. They refuse to negotiate peace. They refuse to accept anything other than military confrontation. There was no "unprovoked murder" as you claim - otherwise you would have made a lot of noise about the unprovoked murder of Israelis on the Israel-Egypt border, and you would have called for war crimes trials for the perpetrators. You're not an observer. You're a biased meddler.
3. Forget the new-found "deterrence": the fact that these thugs
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.09.11)
ever dare to think of "returning fire" shows us how sad our situation is. That puts their katyushas at par with our F-16/whatever..... Killing a terrorist here&there is not an answer. If we don't kill their WILL to do us harm then fugataboutit
4. Why does Palestinians Ma'an news...
Ivan ,   South Africa   (12.09.11)
always cries like a baby when Israel retaliate's.......firing rockets has its costs on both sides Gaza when are you going to wake up and start to live better life, you will NEVER beat Israel...
5. To: No. 1
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.09.11)
The problem with you airheads is that you fire rockets into Israel, and then bitch and moan when Israel retaliates. Here's a news flash: don't fire rockets and Israel will not retaliate. Fire rockets, and Israel will retaliate. It's really all that simple. When do you people plan on growing brains? Oh -- by the way -- you people have a very loose definition of the word "truce." It doesn't always have to be on your ridiculous terms, understand? Do your best to grasp the concept. It will only get considerably more painful for you if you do not. By the way -- "unprovoked?" I beg to differ. We consider the senseless slaughter of Jews to be provocation enough. Stop killing Jews, and we will leave you alone to wallow in your incredible mediocrity. Keep killing and targeting Jews, and suffer the consequences. Your call.

"Meddler?" Observer is not a biased meddler. He is a complete idiot.
7. #6 A Complete Idiot?
Az ,   Australia   (12.09.11)
I would respectfully suggest that a halfwit cannot be a 'complete' anything. No.1 may become a halfwit if they live long enough, study hard and put in a lot of work. Completion and stupidity really don't go hand in hand.
8. To: Az at No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.09.11)
Well, now that you put it that way .... I take your point, and express my gratitude for the revelation!
9. Palestinians are right
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (12.09.11)
to fight thives of their land
10. Question to Govt : How long are you going
DT ,   TA Israel   (12.09.11)
to be weak and capitulating and jeopordise the Israeli lives ? Shame on your lack of response
11. They appear to be clumsily co-ordinating themselves
Ypip ,   Canada   (12.09.11)
themselves with their 'brothers' in the north. That's why Hezbollah's bombing UNIFIL out.
12. Well, # 9
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (12.09.11)
Correct me if I am wrong, but you must be a product of the old social-realistic reporting from the times of the old Soviet block. Shabat Shalom.
13. simple answer all arabs must go back to arabian desert they
ralph   (12.09.11)
came from.
14. re 8
NIgel ,   London, England   (12.09.11)
Jarda you are clearly confused. Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005, a bilateral decision. Sincwe that time over 9,000 rockets have been fired from Gaza, not aimed at the miltary but at homes, schools hospitals. If that makes Palestinians right, then the world is in serious trouble. Hamas and their cronies do not fight for the return of their land, they fight for the destruction of Israel ( which is a legitimate State as voted by the UN in 1947). You are mistaken in your assumption and I ask what YOU would expect your government to do if your family was targetted by terrorists on a daily basis ?
15. #9. Jarda: We remember the Benes decrees
Tom ,   USA   (12.09.11)
By which millions of ethnic Hungarians and Germans were expelled from their native land. And get this: Benes decrees are still in force today. What would you say if Sudeten Germans would commit terror in the land stolen from them by the Czech? Your hatred fort the Jews blinds you but people still remembering the injustices that Benes committed against them.
16. eldad is totally correct
marcel   (12.09.11)
if israel had threatened to kill one hamas and jihad leader per day, until all of them were dead, all of them along with their significant helpers, shalit might have come home alive. eldad is correct about thinking outside the box. The problem israel has is with ehud barak at defense. He is a big talker which no arab country takes seriously. His record in land battles is lousy. As a result, he takes no meaningful action. Olmert who is the worst took more action than barak and that is saying something. Barak is paralysed by fear of failure and so, he will take no action on iran. Bibi has got to appoint yaalon to defense mininster and give barak an empty desk. barak will make all kinds of concessions. He is just a disaster for israel. And if bibi does not disconnect from barak, then I will support feiglin. I am sick of this craziness.
17. what is strange
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (12.09.11)
It isn't strange that rockets are being launched from Gaza and that the IDF is helpless to defend Israeli civilians, that is exactly what rational people predicted when the extreme Leftists imported Arafat back in 1993 and when they ethnically cleansed Gush Katif. What is strange is that the extreme Leftists still wants to ethnically cleanse Judea and Samaria, even though everyone knows it means rockets on Kfar Saba, Modiin, Tel Aviv and of course the airport.
18. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.09.11)
You want to discuss "thieves?" Okay. Okay. Who stole the identity of Jews as the real Palestinians? Who are the illegal squatters in Israel? The ersatz "Palestinians" -- most of whom are Bedouins who come from the Hejaz in Western Arabia, Syria, Mesopotamia, Egypt and Lebanon -- came and stole OUR land. According to your logic, that gives Israel the complete right to drive these thieves off our land. Isn't that right? Whatever it takes.
19. This is getting old
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.09.11)
Just destroy Hezbollah, destroy Hamas, and immediately proceed to build a far better world. With Hezbollah and Hamas eliminated, the world instantly becomes a better place. Collateral damage? Hey, life occasionally sucks when you allow terrorists to take over. Just ask the hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqi, Afghani, Waziri and Libyan civilians, thanks to indiscriminate NATO bombing. If NATO can, so can we. Think greater good -- ridding the world of the obscenities known as Hamas and Hezbollah surely serves the greater good.
20. #1 Observer - Make up you mind
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.09.11)
First you vehemently asserted that it was a "Work Accidentt", until I proved that Arab Media said it was a rocket attack Now, you're Claiming "Truce Time", which was declared when & where & who agreed to it ? Instead of pretending that you're in Egypt, pretend that you're in Gaza, knowing full well that you've never been in either place
21. #9 Jarda - Palestinian's would be right
BEN JABO ,   ISRA EL   (12.09.11)
if it were their land, it isn't and never was There never was an Independent entity named Palestine, No Government of its very own, not even a Capital City, much less a few coins they minted for themselves How about naming the last three Independent Palestinian Rulers? Or tell us where their Capital City was Located? There is no such thing as "Palestinian Land", there never was, I DEFY YOU TO PROVE IT TO BE OTHERWISE As a matter of fact, neither Palestine or Jerusalem are mentioned in the Quran, not even once!! Which serves to prove that your claim is total crock of crap
22. #1
Vered ,   Canada   (12.09.11)
The killing was not of 2 innocent people, there was evidence that these people wanted to carry out on attack on Israelis. Are we supposed to let them kill us first and then retaliate? No. Thats what happened a few months ago and 8 Israelis died. We will not take this chance again. And it's not like Egypt is helping us avoid attacks. I have an idea for you, as an observer, go talk to the palestinians, tell them to stop planning attacks on Israelis and then we can start "talking peace". Also, if they REALLY REALLY care about their people, they should stop putting training camps and shooting from places where there are "innocent" civilians. But we all know that would defeat the purpose of showing the Palestinians as the victims and Israelis as the aggressors. Shabbat shalom
23. #9, what on Earth is a thive?
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.09.11)
If you forgot an r and meant to say thrives I am afraid that is a verb not a noun. You must have been meaning to say the people who made the land thrive, but sadly we don't have a single word for this. Israelis did indeed make it thrive though and it is quite evident if you compare photos of the land in the Mandate and Ottoman periods and how it looks now.
24. What is Israel waiting for?
Brod ,   USA   (12.09.11)
By doing nothing to defend your country against external aggressions and threats, you are eroding your deterrence. It is time to act and effect a regime change in Hamastan and make it a peaceful pro-Israel Gaza enclave. Why wait for the Ayatollahist forces to encircle Israel?
25. #12
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (12.09.11)
You can check ownership of land in Palestine on official webpage of UN. You can check what percentage of population of Palestine was constituted by Arabs. Why they couldn't decide their fate? Why their were expelled from their land?
26. rights
Wiz ,   Canada   (12.09.11)
Israel and Palestine has the same rights to protect each other. Eye for an Eye. Isnt that how you people work???
27. #25 Jarda
David ,   America   (12.09.11)
You need to seriously learn some history. You don't know the first thing about what you are trying to discuss. No one was "expelled" from their land. They left of their own free will. There was no State. Israel became a State. All those within her borders were welcome to stay and live peacefully. Their terrorists leaders were the ones who expelled them by encouraging them to fight first and then flee. Get an education Jarda. It is embarrassing to see you make such a total ass of yourself through your ignorance. But, it is possible that you are not from the Czech Republic at all. Maybe from Aza.
28. Israel is Holy Jewish Land, not Pal!
David ,   USA   (12.09.11)
If you read the heavily documented history book "From Time Immemorial," you will see there were no Arabs in Palestine. They started coming from the Arabian Deserts to escape their harsh task-masters. They snuck into Israel for jobs & better life. They have ZERO legal rights in Israel up to & including most of Jordan which was given to the Jews by UN in San Remo in 1920. Those are the facts if you really want to educate yourself instead of blurting hateful diatribes vs the Chosen People!
29. #1 WHAT TRUCE!!!!
meghan ,   israel   (12.09.11)
maybe its only on Gaza side they feel your so called truce should hold up...NO BUDDY!!!! Gaza has never upheld any truce, so everytime IAF hits its a happy moment..OK!!!
30. #18 Jews weren't there, if they were exuded 1800Y earlier
