1. Something is still wrong with Gilad Shalit
He was reading what was written (by whom?). His eyes fixed above the camera he was trying not to err. He carefully proceeded his lecture word by word, sentence by sentence with a monotonic voice that reminds his last captivity message showing him with a newspaper in his hands. This young man is still sick. His recovery will take time, maybe more time than his five years in captivity. He needs the continious help and supervision of the best psychologists and psychiatrists the army can provide. And..a girlfrend.

@1 its called "HAVAYA METAKENET" (a healing experience) and that is why the text was prepared and that is why he read it.
Yes he's got a long way to go...but to be able to thank his fellow man is a very good beginning!
May it be well with this young man.

I wish Gilad well and PG full recovery. He is as much our son as are the victims of all the terrorist murderers who were released to enable Gilad's release. The victims/families should also be thanked for the pain they had to endure seeing these beastly killers of their loved ones set free.

@5 I agree, but I don't think that's something for him to do. That can come from the top. Taking that responsibility on top of everything else would be unbearable.
I hope his smiles can reach his eyes soon.

13. Has Noam Shalit gone back to work, yet? His company said
they miss him in another article and want him to return to work after supporting him for years so he could petition for the return of his son. Just asking.
So glad Gilad Shalit is doing much better but Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is not going to go away. If he got a prescription for Propranolol (Inderal) in a low dose for ten days at a time to see when the effect is lasting, that slows the heart down slightly and takes away the trauma of horrible memories without taking away the memories.

The Palestinians in Israeli jails are held there because, for whatever ideological reason, they broke the law. While there they are fed, allowed access to air, TV, media, visitors, proper nutrition and clean clothes, bathing facilities and are treated like human beings -- albeit in captivity. Gilad was kidnapped, and held hostage with access to nothing. I don't believe that you're making any ind of viable comparison.

Nice to see Gilad, B"H he is improving thanks to all those who supported his release and especially to the one above because with out the help of G-d and the prayers it would not have happened.
Gilad may forget to thank G-d but Hashem was there with him and watched over him.
So if no body else will thank him I will.

22. To "a survivor" @ 16

(12.11.11) |
If you feel that way then Kol Hakavod - you are nobler than I could be, were I or my family the victims of Arab terror. I can't know what you went through but you are only one voice among the tens of thousands of other victims and relatives. I too am very glad that Gilad is home and PG he'll recover well but the pain among many other victims' families would be unbearable to see their loved ones' murderers freed, and many said as much to the High Court. So a thanks or acknowledgement of their pain is in order, not necessarily from Gilad. And don't be presumptious about my abode since my children and grandchildren all live in Israel and serve in the army, as I did as a young immigrant. And Gilad and other victims are "our sons & daughters", children of the Jewish people, wherever we are.

TO #11, ZIMBI,
Zimbi, you obviously were not in Israel in the days leading to, the actual day, and the following days of Gilad's release.
If you were here, there is no way you would claim what you did, that his release split Israel.
There is not a single Israeli, and most of all the families of the victims of the Arab terrorists atrocious crimes, who did not feel the pain and outrage of releasing these animals from prison.
But the joy and relief and outpouring of love for Gilad and his family was in the air, wherever you went, you saw the happiness that people felt over Gilad's return.
I don't know where you live, but it certainly is not Israel.

TO A SURVIVOR,
All the best to you.....
How true, anyone with a Jewish heart, or a mother's heart, or a human's heart, beating in their body, could not possibly be overjoyed and relieved that this young man is free, back in his country, with his family, and friends.
Is there a person in Israel, who woke up a single morning and didn't agonize and worry about Gilad, and whether his fate would be as Ron Arad? I know I didn't.

29. @22 I do believe ur statistics are off, way off.
Watcher , |
Israel |
|
(12.11.11) |
Sadly as each human being is a soul and each soul is an entire world.
The more correct statistics are:
3000 murdered by terrorism
8000 injured by terrorism
even if we average in say 4 survivors per victim your numbers are still way off.
Please do remember that even in Australia exact statistics are more helpful than inaccurate and off the cuff stats!
