1. It malfunctioned ?
Arnold-Canada ,   Montreal   (12.10.11)
That is pretty simplistic is it not ? Not only did it not get the job done of spying but it did not self distruct as it is supposed to. Could be it has a mind of its own and has converted to Islamic semi-conductors. LOL
2. US Drone
Joe Charlaff ,   Jerusalem   (12.10.11)
The US should build a self destroying mechanism into the drones so that in the event of one falling into the wrong hands the mechanism can be detonated immediately so the technology will be safe. Im surprised nobody thought of that before
3. What I don't understand ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / israel   (12.11.11)
.... is why on earth the United States would conduct operations over Iran using a drone. The United States has satellite technology that can distinguish the brand name of a pack of cigarettes sitting on a picnic table. Using a high-tech drone was surely superfluous. The United States produced the Hubble and the Keck telescopes, with similar -- or better -- technology installed on its spy satellites. Using a drone was unnecessary, and gifted Iran with technology it could not otherwise hope to have. More importantly, the Chinese and the Russians want a look at the drone. Such a look would not come free of charge; possibly a nuclear warhead and a missile capable of reaching Israel. Hmm. That raises an interesting possibility. Did Obama and Panetta engineer this mishap deliberately to promote a private agenda detrimental to Israel's interests?
4. Re: # 2
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (12.11.11)
B"H - Of course they thought about it but the article says the drown could have been hacked with the Russian equipment and that means that it might have thought it was commanded to land. Can a drone programmed to self-destruct when it receives a command not in sync with its flight plan? I don't think so. Why? Because circumstances of a mission may change during the flight, because of the flight itself. So, solve this enigma.
5. #3...Sarah...Finally ...you are getting it....

Do a search on the "Beast of Kandahar." There are differences.
8. US claim drone malfunctioned, glided to Iran isn't credible
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (12.11.11)
That an apparently intact US stealth drone is now in the hands of Iran demonstrates that the Obama regime has lied to the world about the circumstances. Stealth flying wing aircraft are inherently unstable and can not maintain controlled flight without power and an operator - they can not "glide" on their own anywhere without crashing. Even if a fail-safe autopilot device kept the drone in stable flight with the link to the ground controller disrupted, there is no way the craft could land itself in one piece, for the simple reason that this type of drone needs a hard surface runway to land on, with its high stalling speed - even landing in a flat glide after running out of fuel [if that were even possible - its not], coming down on flat desert terrain or grassy fields would result in a cartwheel and total destruction. And Iran is 99% not flat desert or soft grass. So the drone was obviously landed intentionally on a hard-surface runway in Iran in order to be recovered as intact as the photo shows. Either Iran hacked its computer guidance system and hijacked it to a controlled landing at an airbase or on a highway, or the CIA technician flying it decided to land it at an Iranian airfield or highway [disloyal CIA operatives have betrayed the US before], or the Obama regime decided to turn the technology over to Iran "accidently" by flying it to Iran intentionally with the "malfunction" as a cover story, for reasons unknown. There is absolutely no other explanation for how a fragile, difficult to fly stealth drone could land intact in Iran - a skilled controller was necessary, and our free press here must do a better job of holding Obama's feet to the fire to get a truthful explanation - not yet another free pass on his buffoonery and lies. America is sick of this idiot.
9. #3 spy sattlites arent perfect
jonathan ,   MN/US   (12.11.11)
and they can only perceve so much also i doubt china will trade a nuclear missile for a damaged drone no matter how advanced it is
10. Nr 3.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (12.11.11)
Using a drone over Iran, that is what I also Have wondered about. And why not destroy it with Cruisemissiles ?. As you write, this is very strange. Arn.Sweden.
11. Instead of attacking their nuke sites, that
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (12.11.11)
ASSHOLE Obama presented the Iranian criminals the most advanced US spy technology free of charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15. And the U.S. media silence is deafening
Tom ,   USA   (12.11.11)
Tangentially speaking the U.S. media - all in the pocket of Obamao - is absolute silent and refuses even to mention the potential consequences of this technological loss to Iran and Russia/China. In sharp contrast to the chest banging, Obama- wooing frenzy by the media after the capture of Bin Laden: he was declared the Greatest Super Leader who - unlike the lame Bush - singlehandedly led the military ops. There is not a single word on this subject: they try to shield Obamao, their Dear Leader from negative fallout.
16. Obama is an idiot or he did it deliberately.
Efroim ,   Virginia   (12.11.11)
I dont trust that man one bit.
17. Sarah 3
Stephen in New York   (12.11.11)
There are reports that this particular class of drones flies at 50,000 feet and was sniffing for radioactive particles, something that a satellite orbits too high to do.
18. 2 weeks before the drone came down
Stephen in New York   (12.11.11)
there were reports out of Lebanon claiming that Hezbollah had obtained technology that would allow it to take over the controls of overflying UAVs. I didn’t take that seriously at the time, but now I wonder. . .
19. More: recent reports US UAV networks infected
Stephen in New York   (12.11.11)
With virus that records keystrokes. At the time the news reports wondered why anyone would want to record UAV keystrokes.
20. Must be the new electronic warfare...
Chris.B ,   Australia   (12.11.11)
units the Russians delivered to Iran. Seems they work a treat!!! Because there is no rational dialogue with iran (only threats) nobody knows their real military capability. Hopefully this will demonstrate to the lying warmongers (Israel and its proxies) the consequences of attacking Iran. Never underestimate your enemy.
21. 3 - Keep guessing ,...

25. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.11.11)
Here's a news flash: Israel has been monitoring Iran, both by satellite and with the use of drones, for quite a while. The difference is that Israeli drones never get detected. They're that good. So is our satellite technology. The best part: we have something no other does. Boots on the ground in Iran. And the capacity to cripple Iranian computer systems. Which we have done. U.S. military protection? You must be on drugs.
26. if american "activity" is limited...
tom ,   toronto, canada   (12.11.11)
if american "activity" against the iranian mullahcracy is limited to reconnaissance overflights with toy planes, then we're all screwed!
27. In answer to your question:
Israeli 2   (12.11.11)
Yes they DID #3! They certainly did that on purpose!!!
28. Sarah, #3
David ,   America   (12.11.11)
Do you actually think the US is that stupid? The drone was programed to fail. The electronics in that drone is much more advanced than even Iran thinks. It is doing more good now than in the air. It is right in the thick of the Iranian system sending back every word, and action. It isn't that difficult. Your cell phone can do the same thing.
29. Sarah "BS", is there anything...
Persian CAT   (12.11.11)
out there that you understand??? I don't think so.
