Jewish leaders need to encourage Jews to make Aliyah, not to stay in chutz L'Aretz. Intermarriage is killing the Jewish people, physically and spiritually. "You can't control love"?!?!? Ha! my Israeli girlfriend who has forbidden me from making alliyah until I have gone to med school in the US. She considers the English-language medical programs in Israel to be sub-par to ours here. Israel needs to improve her facilities of higher learning.

If you really want to live in Israel don't wait. You will get stuck in America with bills and loans to pay and hopefully growing children. If you do wait you may never get here till you retire and are willing to leave your children and grandchildren. The medical schools in Israel are top class. Check them out for yourself and then decide.

There are two programs, the TAU-NYS (New York State) program and BGU's program. I checked Hebrew University and from what I can tell you cannot get into their program without some very stringent requirements. It is unwise to take courses in Hebrew because it is harder to learn the very difficult concepts in another language. Better to learn in English and then get the necessary Hebrew. She has her eyes set on Cornell Medical College and it's hard to top that, no? #9, I am a proud Zionist. Even if I do not live there. No country is perfect though, I know that.
