1. So don't discuss in the media
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (12.12.11)
2. Instead of "discussion"
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.12.11)
We might be far better served contemplating how best to send our enemies to THEIR graves beforehand. A simple push of a button will do it, and we will save a great deal of Jewish grief. I would consider that a job well done. Ask me if I really care how hard the Nasrallah family may weep ..... Do you know how blight on roses requires that the entire bush be trashed? Let's trash the entire bush of the blight upon the nations. Civilization is at stake. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE!!!
3. Mass deaths did not happen in Japan
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.12.11)
Nuclear explosions or catastrophe threaten wide regions with mass deaths of humans. But it did not happen in Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami, as explained in this month's National Geographic issue. Several towns were evacuated, possibly for a very long time, and decontamination work is continuing. Mass death from nuclear catastrophe was a serious threat in Japan, but their rescue teams are able to handle the threat so far.
4. temporary burial
ariel ,   gibraltar   (12.12.11)
I think you will find that there is a concept of temproary burial in halachah. thus exhuming a body that has been originally buried on a temporary basis (eg bury me in moscow now until my family has enough moeny to move me to New York, or Jerusalem or anywhere else) would not be considered desecration of the dead.
5. I am sooo relieved, that our Defence Forces turn to the
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.12.11)
highest scientific Authority in matters concerning our obviously fast approaching Future! I want to make it publicly known, that I shall refuse ANY notion of DYING (be that in a nuclear, chemical or biological attack) until these pressing issues have been resolved to the full satisfaction of the Earthly Representatives of the Higher but Unseen Authority. Not a day sooner, I'm telling you!!!!!!
6. Michael There are two types of disasters
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.12.11)
Caused by natural means , such as Earthquakes & Tsunami's, or man made, like Nuclear, like Hiroshima & Nagasaki Both types result in massive deaths & destructions It seems you may ve overlooked what happened recently in Japan, the the Fukushima reactor malfunctioned which resulted in a Tsunami, which is effecting Japan until this very day Or how about what happened to Haiti a couple of years ago, people are still living (if you can call it that it) makeshift shelters without proper sanitiation & water supplies I would tend to believe that Israel is acting to anticipate a potential disaster caused by man rather than by nature I can't figure out why you tend to think otherwise
7. Mass Burial
NYC Girl   (12.12.11)
If the worst were to happen and a mass burial became necessary, violating some religious rule would be the least of the country's problems at that point.
8. #6, that doesn't make sense though...
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.12.11)
The reactor malfunctioning resulted in a tsunami that is still affecting Japan? You mean earthquake which resulted in a tsunami that devastated many coastal villages and damaging the Japanese reactors.
9. Let's hope it never comes to mass graves in Israel....
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.12.11)
10. #3 16,000 is not "mass deaths"?
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (12.12.11)
16,000 people died in the Japanese earthquake and tsunami of 2011. If that is not "mass deaths" then I don't know what number would satisfy you.
11. #2 AND #7
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (12.12.11)
Well said ,I prefer my enemies to die ,and should there be mass casualties here ,heaven forbid ,the least of our worries will be halachic minutia .I fear that Israel will have a nasty wake up call in the not too distant future.
12. #10, Google "mass death"
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.12.11)
And, I wrote AFTER -- not during -- the earthquake and tsunami. Oh dear ...
13. I feel your pain Sarah B ;) ,...
split ,   US   (12.12.11)
You been chasing your own tail. Take a walk, get some sunshine,...
14. #11, from what I can see, Tsafet is a very safe place to be.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.12.11)
High up; many nice steep hills with narrow streets except that one by that big church. Yep. You'd really just have to defend the two highway entrances really, unless there's a back way in.
15. Well Rabbis tell them what to do
Jerome ,   NZ   (12.12.11)
Push the bloody button and flatten your enemies before they get the chance to fire. This is Judaism.
16. #14 DID YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ?
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (12.12.11)
Did you not comprehend the article ? that the I.D.F. are concerned about a future mass casualty situation ,G-d forbid ? Or do you presume to be better informed than the I.D.F ?? Tsfat is a very safe place for the time being ,it is also home of Northern Command and therefore would be a potential target in any future war . I am not personally worried ,but the military here know that any future conflagration would likely not be a picnic. So please save your facetious comments from New York .
17. #10 Michael Haiti Earthquake
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.12.11)
Then do the same for Hirsoshima & Nagasaki I would suspect the Israel isn't nearly concerned about a natural disaster, as she is about a man made one, such as Iranian threat to destroy Israel being attempted and carried out with some degree of success
18. How about planning for our enemies to
jason white ,   afula, israel   (12.12.11)
bury hundreds of thousands of the their soldiers and civilians?
19. 15
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (12.13.11)
Absolutely -do unto others what they would do to you,but do it first.First rule os survival.Has nothing to do with Judaism.Obviously you care about Jewish welfare-otherwise why post on a Jewish site.
20. Lets talk about burying our enemies first
Alan ,   SA   (12.13.11)
21. PEOPLE - PAY CLOSER ATTENTION
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.13.11)
The subject under discussion is a "Possible Rocket Attack", not a natural disaster
22. #13 SPLIT/SCHIZO
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.13.11)
I can understand your failure to understand, remove your head from your rearmost orifice, get some fresh air
