6. I Was Unaware That This Practice Was such An Issue
EZRA ,   US   (12.12.11)
Send the bastards who do this to Saudi Arabia: this sick practice transgresses the Torah explicitly. You'd INDEED have to be a FANATIC from a CULT to "practice" this sick "minhoggim!" SICK!!! Women are to be CHERISHED, NOT SIDELINED like animals. This is a disgrace! Only a hypocrite or a COMPLETE FOOL would fight for PUBLIC SEGREGATION! TAKE A TAXI IF YOU WANT TO BE SEPERATED!!! Idiots!!!

9. #1 & 2
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (12.12.11)
#1 - one wrong doesn't mean we should allow another one. #2 - Pompous bigoted throwbacks who use their narrow distorted view of our faith to justify misogyny. There is a pretty dim religious view of those who add to Torah what is not there! This segregation is Chumrot to the nth. degree. If you wish to live like a Taliban women-hater, go ahead, but don't you DARE try to force it upon our nation's women. We have our tolerance limits and you have reached one of them!
10. religious parasites
(12.12.11)
send these superstitious religious nutters back to Europe or Brooklyn or wherever they come from. Israel cannot survive with these leeches in its midst . Seriously, they are more of an existential threat than any Arabs. Their ridiculous hats and beards drive me crazy with rage
11. Freedom of Religion?
Esser Agaroth ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.12.11)
This is not about women being prevented from singing in public. That is what the Left would like you to believe, and has taken great pains to spin the issue this way. Rather, this is about male soldiers being forced to listen to those women, and thus, having their religious rights violated, rights which U. S. Secretary of State Clinton (and PM Netanyahu & Pres. Peres) has already shown mean absolutely nothing to her.
12. Women's singing...
tzina ,   Tel Aviv   (12.12.11)
Why not issue IDF earplugs to those who are too 'frum' to hear a women singing and still participate in the event?
13. Hope they chose worthwhile targets.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.12.11)
I'm all for including women, but only where it counts. I hope they choose where to intercede with care, so as to enhance women's statues without insult.
14. Another perspective..
J.Gad ,   Israel   (12.12.11)
I do dont understan how people like to criticize a lot Haredis ideas.. have you ever heard haredis prohibiting women to listen a Hazan Singer during prayers? no, thats unthinkable in judaism And G_d created Women,,, but never understimated women intelligence. cheers for the next prime minister female :-)
15. The truth about woemn singers....
(12.12.11)
Solidiers who for religious/modesty reasons who do not want to sit and listen are only asking to be able to get up and leave without penalty or making a scene. At no point is ANYONE telling women not to sing....see the difference? Respect should be for all people. Even religious people who are serving in combat units at a much higher rate than non religious.
16. Katsov included women forcefully, got him prison.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.13.11)
17. totally out of bounds
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (12.13.11)
I ride very often on the 40 bus in Jerusalem. Separation is totally voluntary. It is a system where the riders have requested that if you would be kind enough to respect the feelings of religious people to sit separately BUT never is this forced. I have seen women sit in the front and I have upon occasion ( and other men also) when there is no seat in the front, sat in the back. NO ONE says anything. This article and others like it are totally out of bounds of reality. I suggest that the author come to the forty bus. Perhaps he will realize that the anti religious forces use this against the religious. BTW, I could tell you horror stories that happened to me here in Israel in the work force of discrimination against me, a religious man, only because of my religion. Things that in the USA would never happen. If there is discrimination in Israel, it is against the religious man in the work arena.
18. 8
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (12.13.11)
why pick on Sarah?
19. Freedom from other peoples religion
Free thinker ,   Israel   (12.13.11)
All I want in life is freedom from everyone elses religion. I am a progressive and rational human being who does nice things and helps others not because I'm afraid I'm going to burn in hell but because I am a human being who has empathy for the plight of others. I do not judge and slander othes because I feel that a religious belief gives me the moral high ground, rather I debate issues rationally before making a judgment. Finally I do not feel the urge to post thinly veiled threats to kill someone simply because they have an opposing view to mine on the internet. This is because I am an enlightened and decent human being who does not feel the need to shore up my life with medieval religious dogma that has no true compassion or respect for humanity
20. 19 Free thinker Contradiction!
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.13.11)
"I do not judge and slander" Two sentences later: "religious dogma that has no true compassion or respect for humanity"
21. woman's discrimination
Yonathan Ben A. ,   Canada   (12.13.11)
I dont know where did you all misunderstood the importance of woman in man's life, a woman is the crown of the king, there is no king without his crown. different activities that is all, and you need to be a Jew to speak and understand the way of living like, following the Torah. Israel is not America and it will never be. c'mon its a holy land times are changing and it is all part of the plan. Moshiach is coming. and the world will know the strength of a woman. there is a reason why we all come into this world through them, symbol of purity and peace in a home.
