1. Peres
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (12.13.11)
No one has done more damage to Israeli democracy than Shimon Peres. It started with the "stinking deal" that brought Shas to power. Later, he was instrumental in paying Shas to support Oslo 1 and buying MK (and later drug dealer) Goldfarb to support Oslo 2. He helped establish Kadima, the most corrupt political party Israel has ever seen. And with all due respect, what is wrong with foreign funding bill? It is a water-downed version of the FARA law of the US. Cynics would ask whether Peres is worried about funding for the Peres Center.
2. Peres on Legislation
Nili   (12.13.11)
The only thing to be ashamed about is Peres. This wretched waste of space is not elected and is supposed to be a symbol--instead he is trying to push his nutty policies through his office. Put him out to pasture before he causes further damage!
3. Peres has not stayed out of anything ever. He keeps talking
rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.13.11)
out of turn. Has he given any thought to the idea that our security might be more important to our image? He's a figure head and should stay out of our lives.
4. Folly? Really? What about your "peace" process?
USA   (12.13.11)
The biggest folly in the history of follies is the Oslo Peace accords which cost Israel Jewish lives.
5. Old communists die hard
Michaela ,   Israel   (12.13.11)
Peres only care about "democracy" when it hurts his pocketbook or leftist agenda. People have complained to the police for years about the noise from mosques. Do the police do anything, NO. The police only attack (literally) Jews who blow shofars at the Kotel. Do you hear Peres screaming about democracy/equal rights for Jews on the Temple Mount??? NO!!!!
6. Peres has done more damage
Rachel ,   US   (12.13.11)
to Israel than anyone.

how much love has surrender bought and for israel or for peres?
8. Democracy
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (12.13.11)
This guy acts as if he is a agent of the United States not as president of Israel.
9. If this old criminal is against it then it's kosher for me!

10. Peres: time to go home.
Yackov ,   Joburg, South Africa   (12.13.11)
You are done, go home, grow some flowers, do something appropriate for your age.
11. peres is supposed to be a figurehead not a politician
zionist forever   (12.13.11)
In Israel the president is supposed to be just a figurehead who goes around kissing babies and is not supposed to get involved with daily politics or criticize the ELECTED government. Good old Peres though seems to have forgotten that little fact and still seems to think he is the PM or leader of the opposition so he is giving interviews criticizing the government. Time for that man to retire from politics and just go write his memoirs. Something nice and simple that will keep him out the way until he pops his clogs.
12. Peres
David ,   galut   (12.13.11)
I do not agree with the left, therefore, I do not agree with Peres. I think he is totally wrong. That being said, I would add, He is an Elder Statesman and should be respected for that! He is an Elder Jew, and should be respected for that! He is a citizen of Israel and is entitled to his opinion just as surely as all you talkbackers, and should be respected for that also! Disagree with his opinions if you will, just as I do, however show some respect.

what about the 10 000 yemeni children?
14. New patriotic legislation is a march of sanity.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.13.11)
Peres has never stayed out of the legislative arena. He has constantly tried to mould Israel according to his disastrous appeasing socialist outlook. Despite the fact Israelis massively reject him and his sick policies in polls and elections. The recent spate of patriotic legislation is a long overdue march of sanity. It is way past time to end the polical domination of our centre right nation by a tiny minority of leftist self proclaimed "elites".
