1. Why must there be any bridge?
Roland ,   UK   (12.14.11)
There are many other ways to enter and exit the Temple Mount including where non-Muslims exit today.
2. That would too logical
D ,   Raanana   (12.14.11)
This is a banana republic....don't you know?
3. Barkat & Netanyahu
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.14.11)
Barkat is nothing more than an irritating pimple on Netanyahu's nose...they really deserve each other
4. Disgusting!
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (12.14.11)
I am tired of Bibi kowtowing to everyone but the Jews. Right now the women's side of the Kotel is a small crowded disgrace. Half of it is taken over with that walkway. We care more for tourists who want to visit the site then we do for ourselves!!! It is bad enough when I am dovening at the kotel I am pushed aside by tourists who want to take pictures or say their rosary or cross themselves. ( the same tourists who clamor to go up on the Temple Mount and if they dared cross themselves or say a rosary would find they caused the next riot!) Replace the bridge, get it out of the women's section and take care of Israel first. BTW who is paying for a firetruck to hang out at the kotel. What area of the city is going to be short their protection? I can bet who won't be!
5. sin prison
cristian ,   buenos aires arg   (12.14.11)
we are all the same.human beings,we got right to walk everywhere,to be everywhere meanwhile it is public not private,no fooolish bridges, stupid walls and fucking hatred for nonsenses, fuck and go to hell islam, judaism and christianity, religions of hatred and separation made by men and not by God where we are all the same:human beings to live humanity.
6. More creative solution. Burn the bridge then you will
Harry Wright ,   UK   (12.14.11)
have to build a new one. People do it all the time to collect insurance money. Oh well, too late now.
7. Hamas claimed this was an attack on Islamic sites. How can
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (12.14.11)
anybody live at peace with that mindset Thy cry was instantly taken up by other Muftis.
8. Maybe Bibi is learning to pick his battles.
Arnold-Canada ,   Montreal   (12.14.11)
Right now Bibi has get control of the settlers and their leaders. I am a pro-Israeli Jewish Canadian man and I am pissed off at these people. It is one thing to come out and say that these radicals do not represent the settlers themselves. It is another thing to go out and turn them over to the authorities whether in the settlement or the IDF. God forbid a battle to occurr and the IDFhas to go in with sabotaged military equipment. Equipment meant to protect them.
9. Show consideration to the elderly
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.14.11)
Instead of a bridge, put in a moving walkway as you see at most modern airports
10. Ridiculous caving by PM Netanyahu
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (12.14.11)
Is Israel sovereign or not? Clearly, Bibi is afraid to say, so he just supinely caves to pressure from Egypt and Jordan. The bridge is perhaps the ugliest structure in Jerusalem. Tear it down and build something dignified and appropriate to the site. If the Arabs riot, deal with them with a strong hand.
11. The Wakf controlling Netanyahu
Ralph Haglund ,   Sweden   (12.14.11)
It is obvious Jordan and their Wakf controls the Israeli government. Is that why the Knesset is deadly afraid of revealing the scathering complaints from the State Comptroller about the mishandling of the holiest place for all Jews except the Israeli government?
12. Barkat lacks Bibi's vision
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (12.14.11)
An essential quick fix of the intrusive monstrosity is better than creating a permanent fact.
13. @1 there r 11 entrances to Temple Mount...
watcher ,   Israel   (12.14.11)
10 are for use by Moslems and 1 this one with the bridge is for non-Moslems (Jews and Tourists of all other religions) Please note that: 1. there has always been a bridge walkway up to Temple Mount at this location. 2. the reason there is only one entrance for non-Moslems is because between 1967 and today there have been two very serious attacks against the Temple Mount area and the people up there. One was carried out by a Christian extremist and the other was carried out by Jewish extremists.
14. another example of Mayor Barkat's meglomania!
watcher ,   Israel   (12.14.11)
Mayor Barkat is only the mayor of Jerusalem and yet: 1. last year he expected to be received by the President of the United States. The president's office issued a statement saying "The President is not in the habit of meeting with mayors. He meets with heads of State." 2. Mayor Barkat is only the mayor of Jerusalem and as such he MUST NOT be allowed to set policy for the State of Israel. In other words PM Mr. Netanyahu is 100% correct in calmly telling Mayor Barkat to STAND DOWN!
15. Do it and ask for forgiveness later
Beverly ,   Toronto, Canada   (12.14.11)
Israel should just build the new bridge and take the heat. It was the same when they opened the door from the tunnel tour. Great riots and then nothing because it was all stupid. Israel should also institute legal action against the waqf for the actual damage done when the built the stable mosque.
16. @15 oh that life in Israel were that simple!
Jerusalemite ,   Israel   (12.14.11)
Do you realize that in Jerusalem we live inside of a highly explosive powder keg? Do you realize that if your suggestion was activated it would end up with many injured and dead people? I guess not because surely you wouldn't have made your suggestions.
17. Old & flimsy wooden structure
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.14.11)
All it needs is a bit of combustible fuel and a match, the sight could would be seen for miles One hell of a barbecue, bring your marshmallos
18. #13 Watcher - You haven't seen it all
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.15.11)
What of the attacks by the Muslim extremists, using the Temple Mount as their base to foment riots & stone Jewish worshipers and tourists below & near the Mount? I would suggest that henceforth & in the future, you clean your glasses while your watching, you most certainly didn't see it all, or shall we say you're just pretending you didn't
