Diaspora Jews are very familiar to Birthright and other similar programs; from several weeks to a whole year, they are intended to boost aliyah an to strengthen the jewish identity of their participants. It seems that Israel could very well use a similar idea, sort of a "reverse birthright": every Israeli should be encouraged to spend some months in Chutz Laaretz, living in a Jewish community is Americas, Europe, SAfrica or Australia. I bet the vast majority would come back home much more aware of what binds them to their fellow Jews and more tolerant to one another.
