3. Palestine exists!
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (12.15.11)
Palestine exists and has done so ever since Emperor Hadrian scattered the Jews from their land in 135 AD, in keeping with the Divine Will and Edict and the ultimate replacement of Judaism by Christianity as the True Israel. The modern state called Israel is the invention since 1948, and it usurps the Holy Land in contravention of the stated Will of the Lord.

7. As someone whose study is Archaeology of Israel I have few
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.15.11)
qualms with what he says (though he should have said "which the Torah says" for Goliath and all). He left out the important fact that some Palestinians actually claim lineage from the Philistines and from the Canaanites (Arafat used to make this claim and later made it more specific to be Jebusites, the supposed original owners of Jerusalem). Of course, modern research points to a Canaanite origin for Israelites (they were a Canaanite group and became dominant in the region during the Early Iron Age).

re your comments. I wish your leadership would show the same guts as you and come out and say it. The vast majority of Jewish people internationally and in Israel would recognise the rights to a Palestinian homeland, even more so if your leaders would acknoledge the rights for a Jewish sovereign state. Settlements are not the issue which prevent peace, nor ultimately are issues around Jerusalem. As recently as 2008, opportunities were spurned for peace ( see Coldolica Rice's bio) because of the absolute rejection of the idea of the Jewish identity of Israel by Abu Mazen. This is the same as happened in 1947, 2000 and so on. The fact that Hamas and its cronies are even more extreme makes the prospect of immenent peace remote. Sadly, there has been no mutuality in mutual recognition and until there is, the historical arguements will go on. So, please shout out loud that you believe it is time for peace and get as many people in Ramallah to do so. If the people will it, it will happen but not until they do.
12. Palestine
Observer ,   Italy   (12.15.11)
What's the point of making a string of jejune quips like this? Books on this topic do exist, you know. Israeli scholars write extensively on it. Biblical scholars will tell you that nonsense about Philistia is wrong: the word Palaistina is found in Herodotus. Some write to comfort their communities by stroking their prejudices, or encouraging their ignorance. Perhaps dads and mums will finally have a talking point over dinner tonight, blithely unaware that every fact they have been served is a just-so fairy tale story that translates thus. We who lived for millenia in the diaspora returned to the land the Bible (myths) gave to us by lordly fiat. Everybody else in the area who lacks our faith and bloodlines is here on fraudulent pretenses.
13. Palestine defined in Wikipedia
Barry ,   Boston   (12.15.11)
I'm sorry but Palestine existed before 1948. One only needs to look at Wikipedia which says the following: The Zionist Organization provided their definition concerning the boundaries of Palestine in a statement to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919; it also includes a statement about the importance of water resources that the designated area includes. On the basis of a League of Nations mandate, the British administered Palestine after World War I, promising to establish a Jewish homeland therein. The original Mandate Palestine included what is now Israel, the West Bank (of the Jordan), and Transjordan (the present kingdom of Jordan), although the latter was disattached by an administrative decision of the British in 1922. You can argue over whether those living (Arabs and Jews) in Palestine before 1948 should be called "Palestinians". But, to pretend that Palestine didn't exist is foolish.
14. Serve world with legal proof Judea/Samaria belong to Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.15.11)
It is way past time for Israel to stop going along with the fictional Palestine charade. Palestine has never existed, doesn't exist and won't ever exist, unless the majority of Israelis get lobotomies. We have massive incontrovertible proof Judea and Samaria legally belong to Israel. We should serve it on the U.N., all world governments, NGOs and media. The evidence is strong enough to convince every open minded person.
15. The truth about Palestine
Marco ,   USA   (12.15.11)
I don't know what to think of the human psychy. 60 years of forced facts doesn't change the truth. the bible or the talmud shouldn't be the source. just googlee it and you will find your answer. then, you can follow the truth or keep on being blind for ever.

The next "Big Lie" should be that the PLO was formed in order to try to regain the "occupied territories" from Israel. However, Yasser Arafat created the PLO in 1964...three years before the Six Day War when Jordan controlled the West Bank and Egypt controlled Gaza. So now the question is what the hell was the PLO planning to "liberate"?
18. Bar Kochba & Arafat
Sabra ,   Zinzibar   (12.15.11)
can you please tel me why the Jewish revolt led by Bar Kochba in 135 AD. was unsuccessful ? how Roman Emperor Hadrian treated this revolt , and how Israel is treating the Palestinian revolt ? question to historians, just for the history nothing more :)
19. This article is incorrect
David ,   San Francisco, CA   (12.15.11)
The first use the national identity "Palestinian" dates back to the 1834 revolt against the Ottoman Empire. The use began much more common around 1910, before the first world war. Also, no nation in the Middle East was sovereign during the time of the Ottoman Empire, including Israel. So therefore using the authors logic, Israel, nor any nation of the middle east deserves independence as they were all Ottoman or European(British or French) subjects. The famous 1977 quote was not by a Palestinian, but a Baath member, which do not believe in individual Arab nationalism, but one secular Arab world- virtually borderless. He was also not a member of the PLO. Look it up! Lastly, Shoebat has already been exposed as a fake, unable to back up any of his claims.
20. Conspiracy British Empire in 20 C was the biggest lie
E,M Jordan is Pales ,   SF   (12.15.11)
Conspiracy British Empire in early 20 Century was the biggest lie about the Arab Palestinian in State of Israel it was the policy of dividend and rulings on them and since then still continue until there is the interest of British Empire and western nations and USA in M,E and Gingrich has said the true to attract the American Jews to his side but we should remember that some previous President also have promised to move the American embassy to Jerusalem but they changed their minds when they became President, I hope Gingrich will change his mind in case he will be the next US President, Go Mr. Gingrich you have my support .

24. Good article. Brave enough to speak the truth
Ari ,   NYC   (12.15.11)
This truth should be talked about more often. The more it is repeated, the more it will be accepted into every day discourse and will become a legitimate way of thought.
25. Enough Room
Eretz Yisroel   (12.15.11)
There was always enough room in Palestine for all the Jews of Europe and a equal number of Islam by 1920 but Islam refused with extreme violence and the Jews had flawed ideologies like bolshevisn and bundist deluded and haredi .
26. All nations are invented: US, France, India, Israel
Stephen in New York   (12.15.11)
I think it detracts from Israel's position to insist that the Palestinians have not -because of circumstances and their recent history- become a people.

28. This Article is Faulty
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (12.15.11)
I do not agree with you. First the Arabs of Arabian Peninsula migrated to Greater Syria ( altogether Syria,Lebanon,Palestine,& Jordan) and to Iraq upon the collapse of their civilzation in Yemen before the emergence of Islam (Arabs of Greater Syria were allies of Byzantine Empire while Arabs of Iraq were allies of the Persian Empire at that time ).Secondly, under Islam Arabs conquered Palestine and captured Jerusalem in 638 A.D., and have been living there ever since.Thirdly, what I know is that my family lived in " Majdal " ( Migdal ) to the east of Ashqelon until the War of 1948 ( Arabs Vz. Jews ) when violence forced them to move elsewhere ( I still have the UNRWA Palestinian refugee card ).Fourthly, regarding that " former moslem terrorist...Walid " his question simply reflects how stupid and naive he is ; Palestinians living west of River Jordan (West Bank of the River ) became part of TransJordan from 1950 to 1967 when,in the Six-Day War ,Israel captured the West Bank and Jerusalem. You know that many nationalities worldwide often get different citizenship( Bengalis were part of Pakistan since India's independence in 1947,& their homeplace was called "East Pakistan" until they finally got their independence in January 1971 when their country has since become called Bangladesh ). Fifthly, I am disappointed to see you giving credit to the late Yasser Arafat for creating the PLO ; it was Egypt's then-president Nasser who created the PLO which was immediately headed by Palestinian lawyer Ahmed Shuqeiry from 1965 to 1968.Only by early 1969 did we start hearing of that Arafat...Sixthly, it is not up to that PLO executive Zoheir Muhsen to decide the history of an entire people ; I guess he was undergoing a tremendous feeling of Arab Nationalism & Pan Arabism when he was being interviewed in 1977, and he said it withing the context of a distant Arab prospect . Sevently, and last , I reiterate that to me, regardless of what the contesting parties claim ( Arabs, Palestinians, and Jews), life in Jerusalem under Israeli rule is quite good , and I like it ...

You seem to be under the influence of replacement theology (supersessionism). Israel will always be unique to יהוה for they were created for a purpose, where given covenants to by The Almighty, and those covenants will not be broken by the Creator. Study Zechariah 2, Genesis 17:21, Exodus 6:4, Amos 9:15, Psalms 137, Jeremiah 31, Isaiah 6, Romans 11 and many more. Google replacement theology and see your folly that leads to anti-Semitism.

Stated will of the Lord huh? Show us where that is stated. You can't speak for Christians because it's obvious that you aren't one. There is no replacement except in your head. God gave the land to the Jews. He doesn't go back on his word.
