1. Why should non-muslims put up with that racket?
Scott ,   Sunshine Coast   (12.17.11)
These dopes have no idea of what "democracy" is except when using it to destroy it from the inside.i.e. Tibi and co. Freedom of religion and expression - doesnt come at the expense of others...well of course it does with these guys. If the Jews or Christians - anybody else for that matter were making this disturbance - the muslims would be the very first to call for it to stop. We all know that's exactly the case.
2. wonderful is it not?
citizen ,   eilat   (12.17.11)
democracy
3. Their right to make excessive noise
BEN JABO ,   ISR AEL   (12.17.11)
stops at my outer ear If your neighbor blasted his stereo loudly you would also complain, if he refused to lower it, you would seek relief from the authorities They compalin about everything, why not this?
4. In a democratic state the general public has the right not
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (12.17.11)
to be disturbed between the hour of 04.30 to 21.30 by high volume decibels. Instead of demonstrating and raising the decibels, the leaders of Islam in Israel, from the River to the Sea, should, in the interest of peaceful coexistence and on a voluntary basis, lower substantially the sound of their loud speakers so as to accommodate the right and need of the other as well.
5. There are muezzin apps for mobile phones.
Devorah   (12.17.11)
6. Always demonstrating & protesting
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.17.11)
The main question is, Do any of them ever find any time to work & earn a living or to go to school to learn something?
7. Why should we have our sleep disturbed
DT ,   TA Israel   (12.17.11)
by a religion more noted for radicalism than anything else
8. I REALLY WISH THAT THEY ALSO
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.17.11)
Protested when the Jewish Graves on the Mount of Olives were desecrated, tombstones stolen, Joseph's Tomb was burned & when their Elders torched the Synagogues in Jerusalem when Jordan captured the Old City It is not "do as I do", with them it's "Do as I say"
9. If you don't like the Azhan, move away from mosques
Nour ,   Palestine   (12.17.11)
Allahu Akbar!
10. They are right.
nibor ,   israel   (12.17.11)
Although the call to the muzzein could be used for other things, we cannot deny anyone the right to practice their own religion. The Bible says, "You were strangers in a strange land, so you have to treat strangers kindly."
11. mosques silence
lotti ,   tel- aviv israel   (12.17.11)
All israelies that belive in religious freedom should speak out against this bill it is unfair undemocratic and quite frankley unbeliveble in this democratic sate of israel even our religious jews should see this is wrong.
12. So stop the bells of Xtian churches from ringing too !!
Gregg ,   Haifa, IL   (12.17.11)
13. too much salt in their soup?
not_me ,   dark side of the lun   (12.17.11)
set up an open air disco bar with Ozzi Osborm music close to where these folks live and let kids dance all night. Worked like a charm for me.
14. They don't complain in Saudi Arabia & Europe
zionist forever   (12.17.11)
Saudi Arabia, Egypt and a couple of liberal EU countries all have laws on the muezzin because they all accept its a form of noise pollution which isn't needed today. Why do they need ludspeakers so the whole dam town can be woken up in the early hours of the morning? I just hope that when push comes to shove and the arabs, EU and US all start moaning about it Bibi won't cave in again and shelve the bill the way he did the bill on foreign governments funding political groups or refusing to replave the Mughrabe bridge in Jerusalem and instead waiting for an accident to happen rather than upsetting the Waqf.
15. #12 Gregg - Churches don't ring bells
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.17.11)
Five times a day, starting with dawn when most people are still sleeping When a Church Bell rings it makes a rather pleasant noise, totally unlike someone hollering through a loudspeaker #9 Nour - Since you don't like Jews feel free to move where there aren't any, Jordan is real close and it is the Palestine of your dreams, you can then listen to the calls to prayer to your heats content, that is if you can find where your heart is supposed to be
16. #10, #11
nva ,   jerusalem   (12.17.11)
Actually i heard calls to attack from several mosques during the intifada, and recently from the mosque near me there was an angry sermon blasting through several neighborhoods incl. mine....FOUR NEIGHBORHOODS AWAY !!!! NO ONE IS TRYING TO LIMIT RELGIOUS FREEDOM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Church bells don't sound in the middle of the night or at 4am...shofars once or twice A YEAR !!!!!!!! #11...what is undemocratic about obeying the noise laws at 4AM? They can LOWER the volume, but in the last 5 years they have cranked it up higher and higher. THIS IS DEMOCRATIC??????
17. I have an idea
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.17.11)
Let's get some Chabad trucks out to Arab villages five times a day (yes, including four o'clock in the morning) and have them blast at an incredible decibel level the song "Sh'yvonu Beit Ha'Migdash" (it's a personal favorite). Over and over and over and over again, until they get the message that it takes two to tango. What do you want to bet the protest against the mosque bill dissipates rather quickly?
18. #10 nibor
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.17.11)
When the Bible was written, they didn't have sound amplication systems which take the words to broadcast them at excessive volume 100 decibels or so is far beyond the range of a human voice & rather brutal on those that have to hear it
19. islam does not respect any other
jason white ,   afula,israel   (12.17.11)
religion. Cut the noise and perhaps there will be moslims that will feel the relief of less noise pollution.
20. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.17.11)
If you don't like our laws, move out of Israel! Am Israel Chai!
21. #12 Gregg. Xtian?
Paul ,   Miami, USA   (12.17.11)
The word is CHRISTIAN. Is is so painful a word that you have to change it? Maybe you aren't Jewish, maybe you are Ewish. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you!
22. What government are they protesting in that picture
Maier ,   Texas   (12.17.11)
I got confused for a moment when I looked at the picture. I thought they were protesting the Israeli governement. But that couldn't be right... They are carrying the wrong flags!
23. When Quaran was written there were no
leo ,   usa   (12.17.11)
cheap Japanese and Chinese watches and cellphones. Today there is no longer a need for muezzins and minarets and for church bells too. Still, I do not mind if all you would agree to make noise daily precisely at 12:00 and 18:00 for a minute or so and maybe 3 - 4 exceptions during the year, but not a tone more.
24. England and every other Democratic country has this law
shmuel ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.11)
i come from England, London. There it is against the law to blast the Muslim call to prayer over loud speakers, USA has the same law, as do France (France actually bans the complete body and fact covering), Sweden, Belgium and every other democratic state. In fact NOT having this law would be against democracy and a sign that Israel is not a democratic state.
25. #9
viva israel ,   occupied kurdistain   (12.17.11)
You arabs and us jew share the same country...and should do our best to accommodite each other. their is no getting reed of you and no getting reed of us.
26. 10
Rosie   (12.17.11)
They can practice their religion without waking other people at night or dawn.
27. If you're going to dish it out...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.17.11)
...learn how to take it back! When you build your shine on top of another's, don't expect to live in peace.
28. #21 Paul - The word isn't painful
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.17.11)
however, what X-TIAN'S have done to the Jews are Crusades Inquisition Pogroms Holocaust Happy Season's Greetings to you too
29. But the funny thing is
Vered, Israel   (12.17.11)
that the Israeli Arabs also complain about how loud their prayer calls are. But if they complain within their communities, they are seen as anti-Muslim, so they are silenced, They need to be explained to in a nice way that they can still have freedom of religion, and they can still have muezzins, just not loud enough to bug us. And really, it bothers them, too. They want it both ways: to protest, protest, protest against anything we do, but also to enjoy having their decibel lowered, never admitting that it will make their lives more peaceful as well.
30. the proposal is not to ban but to reduce the noise
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (12.17.11)
Let's get it straight, Jews who live several miles away, have to need to hear the mosques calling their faithful to prayer. The sound is over whelming and this is not acceptable. The proposal is to reduce the decibels NOT to cut it out completely.
