1. All religion's made up anyway. Why not make a new halacha?
Henry ,   London   (12.20.11)
Interpret some verse in a weird way to justify a position you want it to take. Tell it to the sheep and they'll follow. Religions have been doing it for thousands of years so there's no reason to stop now.
2. No rabbinate in my life and not in my death thankyou
Gadi ,   Haifa   (12.20.11)
let people decide for themselves and not be dictated to by a bunch of corrup crooks whose only intrest is making a profit on other peoples deaths
3. How much free land is there in Israel???

5. Avery religion has his own way to bury the dead
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (12.20.11)
......and should be respected;Muslims are respected and take a lot of land to bury their dead,so should be for Jew and no-Jews alike.there is plenty of free land in Israel to bury the dead and respect everyone believes and methods of rest after death...for no-believers life and death have no meNing, for believers it has,so respect people believes is important
6. alternative(?)... bury as usual, but after 20 years...
eporue ,   europe   (12.20.11)
dig out and hand over the bones to the relatives, if they want them... they can put them into a nice vase and keep at home...
7. Soylent Green
Yerushalmi ,   Jerusalem   (12.20.11)
I don't understand why people who detested religion while they were alive have to be buried in a religious cemetery according to a religious ceremony. Besides, epikorosim should not be burried in jewish plots. Soylent green would be eco friendly and only logical solution for a secular humanist, and it would make more room in graveyards for proper jews.
8. What rule isn't the "Most Important"???
leo ,   nyc   (12.20.11)
Every time one of these many.many rabbis doesn;t like something it's the "most important" rule-How about being respectful of your fellow man and letting them live (and die) the way they want.?..and what about being real contributors to Israel!
9. Burials in Europe and ancient Israel
Babishka ,   USA/Mea Shearim   (12.20.11)
Burials in ancient Israel, the deceased were placed in tombs and after a few years the remains were removed from the niches and the bones placed in an "ossuary" or bone box. The same practice was followed in Europe, look at the Prague cemetery!
10. other consideration
i ,   jerusalem   (12.20.11)
I am fairly to the hareidi side of the spectrum, but I regard the earth here as special,, and holy. When my time comes, I would prefer a high rise cement cubicle, rather than to forever occupy otherwise useful, holy soil.
11. RENT KARKA
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.21.11)
As they do in Mexico, the body is interred for a specific period of time, then the remains are returned to the family, making room for the next burial in that same parcel of earth It's similar to standing in line for the cinema, you pay your fee, sit in the seat watch the film and then make room for the next occupant
12. Dear Harideem
Haim ,   TA   (12.21.11)
Stay out of my life and stay out of my birth - thank you
13. its not strictly Jewish but whats the alternative
zionist forever   (12.21.11)
The country is running out of physical space to bury people, Judaism doesn't allow cremation so thats not an alternative so what do you do when you don't have enough land? I am sure the government is willing to listen to any practical alternatives that these objectors might have. Israel is only a small country and so there is only so much land that can be set aside for burying people.
14. @9 Babishka read many of ur comments they r on the spot!
IMC ,   Israel   (12.21.11)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Chag Urim Sameach!
15. #12 Dear Haim, worry not
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.21.11)
Jewish burials won't affect you, you're not one of us, are one of them In your case, a sanitation truck will pick up the remains
16. #12 Haim TA

17. MAUSOLEUMS' ARE THE ANSWER
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.21.11)
You can build them as high as you want, not taking anymore space on the ground Up, up & Away!!
