31. #3 - it's a crime in Turkey to question Turkey
William ,   Israel   (12.23.11)
Anything that could result in sullying the name of Ataturk or the reputation of the country of Turkey is considered a crime and heavily punished. With such a law in place - obviously indicative of the emotional maturity of the Turkish people - do you really think they could honestly admit their faults? They couldn't even admit they supported a terrorist ship against a sovereign country (IHH flotilla) even though the BBC and the UN deemed it an act of needless provocation and justified Israel's actions. Would they admit to something as large as genocide? Germany is much more mature and they dealt with the ugly past, which is why they are a stronger nation and people today.
32. #19 - well, for one - Turkey's crime is documented
William ,   Israel   (12.23.11)
and your accusation is unfounded. Despite the foreign militaries, UN observers, and journalists all over the area in 1948, not one of them reported a systematic rejection of "Palestinians" from their homes. But there is widely documented cases of "Palestinians" running without ever seeing an Israeli soldier, or just leaving in hopes to return in a few days to reclaim Jewish property. In 1998, Abu Mahmud, a henchman of Grand Mufti Al-Husseini, admitted during an interview that they created the myth of the Deir Yassin massacre in order to bring Arab armies into the war, and it backfired sending most Arabs running out of fear. That further makes the "palestinians" displaced persons rather than refugees. And with all things considered, displaced persons during a war is nothing close to a genocide of 1.5mm civilians.
33. Turkey can go to hell
Joseph ,   Washington, DC USA   (12.23.11)
They have massacred Armenians, Assyrians, Greek, Cypriots, Bulgarians, Kurds, etc. They attack Jews with "Wealth Tax" and Greeks, Jews, and Armenians in 1955 riots. They can go to hell. Jews should align with Greeks, Bulgarians, Armenians and Kurds as a counter-weight to Turkey.
34. We didn't kill them...They fell over dead.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (12.23.11)
We had nothing to do with it.....even though we pulled the trigger. Turkey and its bully pulpit strike again. Genocide is a four letter word in their zenophobic fantasy culture of forget-fullness.
35. Israel is still in denial of the massacre
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
In 2008, the Knesset declined to recognize the Armenian massacre how a country of great democracy like Israel failed to make the minimum required by the friendly Armenian people. Because Israel has been in constant fear that Turkey would divulge the no secret that the Young Turks were crypto-Jews. The same like the Ukrainian Holodomor. The US has issued a Congress' understanding recognizing the Armenian massacre.
36. Sipahi arkadasim
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.23.11)
Why is is it that many Turks would rather go and live in that loser France even illegally then stay in what you would call Prosperous Turkey? Could it be that in France people get better wages better working conditions even with this new archaic law better freedom of speech?
37. Turkeys have not many friends these days
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (12.23.11)
38. Paris says that the past should be left to historians
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
According to the Algerian documents, between 350,000 and 1.5 million Algerians died during the Algerian War of Independence. Algerians argue that the massacres should be named as genocide and France must apologise to the Algerians. Arab states and many Muslim countries, including Turkey, back the Algerian claims. However the French do not accept the claims. According to the French side, the number of killed Algerian civilians is about 350.000, but not more than "France's Alledged Algerian Genocide". There were executions and widespread arrests during the War of Independence. "Villages were bombed from the air and a town was shelled from a cruiser at sea. The attacks were more or less random. The point was not so much to punish the original rioters as to teach the whole Muslim population to know their place. Settlers set up their own unofficial death squads and killed hundreds of Muslims. German and Italian prisoners of war were released to take part in the massacre". On the October 17, 1961 peaceful protest and for weeks after, bodies of Algerian men women and children- citizens of France because Algeria was at that point still a French colony- were washed up on the banks of the river.
39. Palestinian refugees
cityca ,   London, UK   (12.23.11)
Yazeed, I agree that 300,000 Palestinian Arabs were expelled from what is now Israel, as a result of the 1948 war. But will you agree that 850,000 Jews living in Arab states were expelled from their countries, AND can you explain why the Palestinian Arab refugees are still living in refugee camps 64 years later? The Arab league has kept the Palestinians in camps deliberately to be a thorn in Israel's side, ignoring the sad condition of your Palestinian brothers. They should be ashamed.
40. Paris says that the past should be left to historians
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
The French historian Olivier Le Cour Grandmaison explained in his book "Coloniser, Exterminer" that the French army massacred approximately 1 million Algerians from 1830 to 1871. At that time, The population of Algeria was about 3 million people. That means France exterminated 30% of the population of Algeria, at that time. From 1830 to 1962, more than 2.5 million Algerians were killed by the French army. 1. Armenian men joined the Russian and French forces to fight against the Ottoman Empire, whereas Algerian men joined the French army as soldiers to liberate France from the Nazi enemy. 2. Armenian gangs slaughtered many Muslim Ottoman citizens (More than 520.000 Turkish and Kurdish civilian to be exact), whereas Algerian men sacrificed their lives for the French. 3. Armenians attacked the Ottoman Empire, whereas Algerians fought to aid France's fight for liberation from Nazi rule. 4. Some Muslims did kill some Armenians, but not because they were Armenians, but to take revenge for their relatives slaughtered by Armenians cooperating with the Russian and French forces. Furthermore, the famine that had hit them affected all.
41. #39 the difference
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
The Palestinians are forever faithful to Palestine, while Jews do not mind to change countries and allegiances.
42. #39 by Zionists
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
Arab Jews were seduced or forced by Zionists to leave their homes, while the Palestinians were expelled by the same Zionists.
43. @39 The difference
cityca ,   London UK   (12.23.11)
Many of todays Palestinian Arabs have ancestors that came to what is now Israel, from Syria, Egypt and Lebanon, looking for work on the newly established agricultural communities, set up by Jews in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Part of the Jewish Passover prayers is 'next year in Jerusalem'. This has been the prayer for almost 3,000 years. If Jews have lived in other countries, it is not always out of choice but because they were evicted by the Assyrians, the Romans, the Turks and then were restricted entry by the Mufti of Jerusalem and the British Government. As to the Palestinian Arabs being forever faithful to Palestine, the concept of a Palestinian state was the figment of Arafat, the Egyptian's imagination. Between 1948 and 1967, 'Palestine' was not even a concept. Only after Israel retook Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria was there suddenly a call for Palestine. King David was the King of the Jews and he ruled in what is now Israel, plus Judea and Samaria. Can you name any Palestinian kings for Palestinian Arabs to have been faithful to?
44. ARMENIAN CRIMES AGAINST TURKS, CIRCASSIANS, KURDS AND JEWS
A.   (12.23.11)
France was one of the occupiers of Ottoman Empire during WWI. France launched a war against Turks, and Armenians collaborated with French and Russian armies against Turks. Armenian militia and Armenians serving under the French and Russian armies attacked Turkish, Circassian, Kurdish and Jewish cilivilians. Armenian attacks against non-Amenians are well-documented in British, Russian and Turkish archives. Even invader Russian army officers were horrified by the crimes committed by Armenians against civilians. Armenians are trying to portray themselves as innocent civilian victims but Armenians formed armed units and launched decades long terrorist attacks against non-Armenians, this is not what innocent civilians do. What is next for France then? Burning books and hunting historians who prove against Armenian allegations of genocide? France already prosecuted and fined Bernard Lewis who is one of the most respectable and internationally recognised historians on this subject. Who is next? Guenter Lewy? Avigdor Levy? Norman Stone? Or many other respectable historians who prove against Armenian allegations. Armenian ASALA terrorists assasinated and attacked historians and diplomats throughout 1970s and 80s. Now, it seems that France will be doing that job by using different tools.
45. #44 A
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.23.11)
Turkey used to have Israel, the Turkish Jews and the Israeli / Jewish lobby supporting the Turkish positions and helping. Thanks to your PM Erdogan's and AKP's hostilities against Israel this support has ended and Turkey is facing the consequences. As a Turkish born American t s sad to see that but unfortunately an overwhelming majority in Turkey is supporting these hostilities. As great leader Ataturk said Yurtta sulh Cihanda sulh. Becoming Israel's enemy s counterproductive for Turkey.
46. #43 "Many" means you are not sure
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
The native dwellers of Palestine were called “Palestinians” by Herodotes in 5th century BC, 2500 years before (modern) Israeli statehood; but Herodotes never heard of Jews, though he walked across the whole land. Jews appeared three hundred years later.
47. #43 Half of Israel's population are Arab Mizrahi Jews
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
King Herod was as full-blooded Arab on the maternal and paternal side as Omar ibn Hattab (7th century AD). Around 19 BCE, Herod began a massive renovation and expansion of the Second Temple complex. The Temple itself was torn down and a new one built in its place. what do yo call a complete dismantling and rebuilding by Herod? Herod was never Jew, but a Torah observant; just like the majority of Ashkenazim converts who came Khazaria. Who is not Jew? You cant call a Jew Jew if you can prove the otherwise.
48. next year in Jerusalem on the Wailing Wall!
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
Jerusalem is not mentioned specifically in the Pentateuch. Melchizedek, the king of Salem, or Yere as Abraham called it, who was ''priest of God Most High'' (Genesis 14:18), maybe or may not be the monarch of Jerusalem. It WAS long before the priesthood was instituted! The discoveries made by the new archaeology discredited a great exodus in the 13th century BC. Moses could not have led the Hebrews out of Egypt into the Promised Land, for the good reason that the latter was Egyptian territory at the time. And there is no trace of either a slave revolt against the pharaonic empire or of a sudden conquest of Canaan by outsiders.
49. Enough of Turkey
aron ,   Israel   (12.23.11)
Let Turkey align with the islamo-fascists. They will lose as is already fore told in scripture. It is time for Israel to finally recognize the Armenian Genocide and support these people who are actually one of our tribes. Sarkozy has balls and we should follow his lead on this,
50.  The Palestinian story - built on lies
cityca ,   London, UK   (12.24.11)
Oh sure, 850,000 Jews were seduced or forced 'by Zionists' to leave their homes, in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco.....Nothing to do with the Farhud or the hangings and killings of Jews, but Zionist work. And you know what? All Palestinian Arab refugees were told by the Arab Higher Command to quit their homes temporarily so the armies of the Arab League could sweep through without hindrance and once the Jews were banished into the sea, they could return to their homes. observer, I've been reading your posts carefully and like the PA's pr machine, you don't seem to care too much about truth, provided you make a point. Let's see how your own country (of residence anyway) fares over the next few months. I suspect there will be millions of Egyptians who will be wondering if the Arab Spring was not a major mistake, 12 months from now.
51. 'observer" - Please answer the question of #43
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (12.26.11)
Can you name any Palestinian kings for Palestinian Arabs to have been faithful to? Well !
52. #51 half of Israel's population are Arab Jews
observer ,   Egypt   (12.26.11)
King Herod (1st century BC) was as full-blooded Arab, on paternal and maternal side, as Omar ibn Hattab (7th century AD) and as the Mayor of united Jerusalem, Ragheb Nashashibi in 20th century.
