For the US even in times of cutbacks $238 million is pocket change and some of these hanukah presents will probably help the US arms industry. David's Sling is based on the Stunner missile which was jointly developed by Rafael & Raytheon and the missiles Israel uses will probably be built in the US and it it is well thats another US government subsidy for Raytheon. A version of the Stunner may also be used as a next generation air-air missile to be used by the US. To make it cheaper for Israel some Arrow missiles are partially built by Boeing and the US has been considering incorporating the Arrow 3 into their own missile defense shield. The Iranian threat has grown significantly in the last couple of years so there is a real need for the Arrow's continued development.
