To make such a proposal.
3. The Capital?

Which countries support Jerusalem as Israel's capital? Pelau? Which countries have their embassies in Jerusalem? Nil. Zilch. Doughnut.
4. Jerusalem isn't in the Torah
observer ,   Egypt   (12.23.11)
The city is not mentioned specifically in the Pentateuch. Melchizedek, the king of Salem, or Yere as Abraham called it, who was ''priest of God Most High'' (Genesis 14:18), maybe or may not be the monarch of Jerusalem. It WAS long before the priesthood was instituted!
5. IMPEACH BARKAT!
stude ham   (12.23.11)
nothing of jerusalem ever can be thrown away to any foreign invader. barkat clearly is incompetent in defending jerusalem and must be dismissed before any harm can be done to modern jerusalem. obviously this man learned nothing from jerusalem's monstrous partition of 1948.
6. Jerusalem is the UNITED capital of Israel.

7. What a mess
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (12.23.11)
If the political dimensions weren't enough, the Palestinians and Israelis both have religious extremists to add bonus irrationality to the situation. I question the sanity of any who willingly choose to live amongst such insanity.
8. barkat was only useful behind enemy lines and is no doubt so
ralph   (12.23.11)
shell shocked he still thinks he is behind enemy lines. except as operative he is a failure. and will not or cannot learn.
9. Big deal, it won't pass a public referendum.

10. Law & Order Needs to be Enforced in All Parts of the Capital
Scott Simon ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (12.23.11)
Police are either reluctant or too afraid to respond to crime in Arab neighborhoods. This emboldens the Arabs to commit more crime. The government needs to assign a special police unit to patrol the Arab areas. There must be zero tolerance for crime. Any violent crimes committed by Jerusalem Arabs should result in a tough sentences (an Arab destroying graves on Mt. of Olives got only 3 months) & revocation of their residency after the 2nd offense.
11. #4 - Jerusalem isn't in the Quran
Scott Simon ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (12.23.11)
Nor has it ever been the capital of any Muslim state or any other nation. The holiness & sanctity of Jerusalem to the Jewish people cannot be disputed. Even so, Jews show respect for Muslims by allowing them to keep control of the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism. Why can't Muslims show some respect for other religions too? Especially since they claim Islam's roots come from Judaism?
12. #3, it doesn't matter who recognises ownership of a capital
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.24.11)
The capital of a country is determined by the country itself. It's where the administration is. It cannot be determined by any other country and it does not matter who recognises it as it will still be the capital. Otherwise you could have everyone say Manchester is the capital of the UK and it would be so.
13. #7, that's why God created Tel Aviv. Bless the Big Orange!

14. #4 Observer - Any fool know's it isn't
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.23.11)
it couldn't have been,The Torah was written before Jews reached the promised land You have to stop using those anti-semitic sites, all that I have to do is insert some of their words in my brownser to find out where your latest idiocy came from
15. #11 Scott Simon - AN ADDENDUM
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.24.11)
Nieither is Palestine or Al Aqsa I have posted requestes for anyone to prove that any of them are mentioned in the Quran To-date nobody has responded, not a single one Dayan was a great soldier, although he was a soft hearted fool when he gave control of the Temple Mount to thw WAQF
16. Jerusalem is in Israel
David ,   USA   (12.24.11)
Jerusalem is Israel
17. #14, the Torah was written from the 8th Century BC on.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.24.11)
As for Yerushalayim I've never really looked at the Torah closely, but I'd assume it's in there somewhere. I'm an archaeologist, not a Biblical scholar. Besides, the archaeology points to us being in the area long before the Iron Age (which began in the 1100s BC) and the myth of Exodus (I call it such as there's no proof for it, but at least we've been in Eretz Israel a lot longer than the Bible says we have). The Israelites appear to have lived in the hills and came down after the other Canaanite groups were subdued (they were Canaanite themselves). As for your post at #15, that's correct, there's no mention of Jerusalem in the Quran, just that their prophet ascended at the "furthest mosque". I can give the details of how Jerusalem got turned into a Muslim holy site if anyone's interested. There wasn't any religious motivation, believe you me.
18. #17 Jews lived also in Egypt & Khazaria, so what?
observer ,   Egypt   (12.26.11)
The discoveries made by the new archaeology discredited a great exodus in the 13th century BC. Moses could not have led the Hebrews out of Egypt into the Promised Land, for the good reason that the latter was Egyptian territory at the time. And there is no trace of either a slave revolt against the pharaonic empire or of a sudden conquest of Canaan by outsiders. Khazaria - a huge empire that arose in the Middle Ages on the steppes along the Volga River, which at its height ruled over an area that stretched from the Georgia of today to Kiev. Jews' home land is thousand mile away in Georgia.
