1. No
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (12.24.11)
How is that for a negotiation - Arab style. Any treaty takes two to change - we have no intention of changing a single word and demand that you honor every single one of the provisions which you have never done to date.
2. OK!
David ,   America   (12.24.11)
The first thing to change is the Sinai will go back to Israel. No one can change the treaty without destroying it.
3. Paper and ink are more valuable.
Roland Seener ,   London England   (12.24.11)
4. What clauses is he talking about
JohnPhee ,   Sydney AUSTRALIA   (12.24.11)
Before anyone gets distracted there are things that need to be considered. First these are politicians & who trusts what a politician says. Two it may be a step down from the previous position & gives them an out or it may be sometining for the internaltional community to here. What clauses are they talking about.... if they are unfair & I stress unfair then they need to be looked at by both sides. But they need to state what they are.
5. what good is a paper treaty
joe sombrero ,   usa   (12.24.11)
Another treaty written on paper is broken. If they want to change it ask them to give us Sinai.
6. Then we can also change some clauses, like leaving Sinai
David ,   Modiin   (12.24.11)
7. Agreements with Arab states
Natan   (12.24.11)
isn't worth the paper it is writte on!!
8. change peace treaty
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (12.24.11)
How can you change somthing that doesn't exist ?.the peace treaty between the 2 countries is a meaningless piece of paper,no comerce,no iteraction between the 2 countries,if not for 2 billion dollar that the Egyptians receive yearly from the US,the Egyptians woud have shown their true colors, the egyptians are not like Germany and France, who despite past wars, decided to bury the hatchet and look to the future, today Germany and France are the most prosperous nations in Europe, but in the muslim world the past over rules the future, long live the past,to hell with the future.
9. it seems that most of the arab/islamic
Barney ,   USA   (12.24.11)
world is devoid of real honor. yes they have they type of perverted honor where if your daughter refuses to marry her 80 year old uncle because she ruined the family honor. beyond that all i see is them hating everyone and blowing everyone up including themselves.this is why Israel must accept that the only good defense is a strong offense.the arab dictators are the only ones happy in the arab world in their off the top life of luxury and that is slowly but surely coming to an end.
10. Negotiation Israeli Style
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (12.24.11)
The Camp David agreements that Israael signed called for withdrawel from W. Bank and Gaza within 5 years of signing. Israel has NEVER lived up to this agreement. Why should Egypt feel obligagted to be the only side of a bi-lateral agreement that is honoring the agreement?
11. How about returning to pre-treaty state
leo ,   usa   (12.24.11)
and try to negotiate better conditions. Who knows you might even be able to get Gaza back.
12. Honor it but change it?? Unilaterally voids the treaty
PETER SM ,   PETER SM   (12.24.11)
13. DOUG because your side voided it from day one!
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (12.24.11)
14. treaty-changing is a two-way street
Jeff ,   Chicago, USA   (12.25.11)
if they try to mess with you just take the sinai back and see how they like it
15. Yet again Israeli rightists are proven 100% correct.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.25.11)
The pattern is depressingly familiar. Israeli leftists come up with an idiotic appeasing idea and promise it will bring Israel peace, security and prosperity. Israeli rightists warn against the lunacy of it. The leftist idea is ultimately implemented and it is invariably a complete ruinous disaster. Israel's Sinai retreat is yet another example of Israeli rightists being proven 100% correct. Logically, Israel should only be governed by rightists.
16. #10 Dog - it takes two to tango
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.25.11)
Arafat agreed to, at Oslo, to remove the clause from the PLO Charter that called for the destruction of Israel News flash for you: CLAUSE IS STILL THERE It should have been removed immediately after he returned to his base, which would have been in the first year, first month, first day after paperwork was completed
17. Sorry Chaim (15)
Erich   (12.25.11)
but the idiotic treaty with Egypt was signed and put into effect by a supposed rightist. Perhaps you meant to say 'far rightist', in which case I agree with you.
18. #15 Chaim, you forgot the rest of it mate....
Scott M ,   QLD Australia   (12.25.11)
The leftists then get in the way of the Rightists who want to fix the ruinous and expensive chaos....all the while blaming the Rightists for the problem that they themselves created. Leftys are the same everywhere...we have them here and they are doing the same...twisting everything around to project blame everywhere but themselves. These comments from Egypt are not surprising but also very concerning. We all know where this kind of rhetoric ends up.
19. Psychodynamism
Sigmund   (12.25.11)
There is such a small difference between salfi islam and haredi judaism that a confrontation of violence would be a chillul hashem. Both need secular scientists for health and security .There is a need though for changes particularly Holocaust Denial and granting Jews exemptions in Eretz Yisroel regarding Security Control particularly as Persia exports Mayhem threats with nuclear proliferation exponentiating the dangers of catastrophic destruction within the Earth created by the Shared Almighty G-D.
20. Hangers
Steve Manning ,   Liverpool, UK   (12.25.11)
I think the quote about "hangers" calls for further investigation. I have used them for years with all of my jackets and have never known them to cause a single international incident. Are we dealing with closet Islamists? Will the next big Mid-East conflict take place in a wardrobe? I think we should be told.
21. EXPECT NOTHING GOOD FROM EGYPT
Zimbi ,   NJUSA   (12.25.11)
22. abysmal ignorance
alan ,   texas   (12.25.11)
Doug you display your abysmal ignorance. The treaty also forbids arab aggression. The arabs never stopped trying to attack Israel.
23. #15
Trev ,   Canada   (12.25.11)
Yea let one side govern and call it a democracy.
24. News FLASH. Military in charge not crazy izlamist terrorists
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.25.11)
25. Guess they forgot how close Israel as to Cairo in
Bernard Ross ,   st anns bay, jamaica   (12.25.11)
the 73 war which they view as having won. Had the US not pressured for the cease fire, as always, Cairo would have been under Israeli occupation.
26. #10
Paul Sheaf ,   Liverpool, UK   (12.25.11)
Israel completly withdrew from Gaza as a first step to test the waters and in return has had a never ending cycle of rockets fired at them, hence no withdrwal from west bank. The era of swapping land for peace has not worked and never will. It's about time Israel changed tack as has the arab world done and demand that nations of the world stick to the international agreements set out in the San Remo conference 1920's which is still and will always be legally binding under international law. Educate yourselves! Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah!
27. #10 doug
solomon ,   bklyn   (12.25.11)
Israel did withdraw; they tried to do it in stages. Remember Areas A, B, and C? When that didn't work (remember bus bombings, suicide bombings?) Israel had to go back in. A treaty with Israel cannot allow the other party to continue to try and kill Jews. Brush up on your history.
28. #15 chaim
solomon ,   bklyn   (12.25.11)
If you don't like the Sinai treaty, I can't blame you. It brought only a cold peace that may unravel soon. But it DID bring some modicum of peace, reducing possible misunderstandings that could have lead to war and death.
29. The Arab and Islamic "word"
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (12.25.11)
How is the common person to digest political comment, from the Islamic world? Islamic governments have shown nothing but the "dark side", sponsoring terrorism, murdering their own people, and brutally quashing free speech. So, when an Islamic body, makes statements about treaties, what are we to expect? With so little political integrity, among the Islamic political machine, our response can be nothing more than cynical.
30. EGYPT MUST THEN GIVE BACK THE SINAI
BUTSeriosly ,   Sydney   (12.25.11)
And Israel must cease viewing such genocidal Egypptian statements as free speech. Every demand made the past 60 years has been in the genocide of Israel premise - its not free speech. A million Egyptian Muslims chanting death to Israel - is not free speech.
