Judging by the fact that the holocaust ended in 1945 - over 60 years ago, most survivors are 80+. One would assume that either they already have a computer or aren't about to start learning how to use one now. If ORT is so interested in allowing them to have contact and write their memoirs, why don't they organize for kids to visit old people on a regular basis? Much more appealing than a laptop
2. good joke

A good joke.... Israel is soooooooooo good to his Holocaust survivors, ah, ah, ah - instead of giving them a internet access, why don't they give them the money they keep so well until the last of the Mohicans is dead. I am an holocaust survivor and the last thing I need is internet. I need my teeth to be fixed (the cost of 2 laptops) !! This country stinks - Let them have the money they owe me and have a great party when I am dead
3. too bad, agree w#1

Well put Mr. Hartman. I agree, the holocaust survivor that I know would not know what to do with a computer and has no interest in learning (same for others who are 80+ years, survivors or not). It is also too bad that people like Helene (#2) have been made so bitter by their treatment by the State. I suspect it is overall the lack of funding for pensioners, not specifically lack of funding for survivors, that is the problem.
4. The annual pre- Yom Hazikaron farce

Try calling the organization mentioned above after waiting twenty minutes for someone to answer the phone. Guess what? They had a "very' small amount of computers to give away and there are no more left as of last month. Why was this article reprinted? What about the Yad Sarah project with volunteers that was promoted a few months ago? Nobody ever called back!
