One land for the Hausa-Fulani, one for the Yoruba and one for the Igbo. I'm not sure what could be done for the smaller ethnic groups though.

Don't you get it? It is just like Israel.
The Muslim Hausa will ethnically cleanse their country of Christian Yoruba and Igbo.
They will then flood Yoruba and Igbo with illegal immigrants who will claim "native" rights and the war will continue until no Christians are left.

We had to study Nigeria extensively for a month way back when and I can tell you that the ethnic groups tend to stick together. They are not dispersed throughout the country.
You have to remember that certain tribal aspects are part of the cultures and that includes staying around your own people for safety's sake. You'd pretty much get them about right if you divided them along ethnic lines, but the minor groups are of concern.
