1. man i missed that kind of professional israeli diplomacy
Jalal ,   Gaza   (12.27.11)
israeli politicians this days r kind of children i hope they can make a good calculations to achieve a palestinian neighbor state that can live and good relations between the world
2. Embracing Hamas
David ,   Tel Aviv   (12.27.11)
I agree. Just like we embraced the PLO, we should give Hamas ammunition, bring them into the West Bank to provide law and order. In return we should expect thousands of jews killed, world condemnation and a significant weakening of our security. Another fantastic idea and editorial piece from YNET
3. BLOODY UNBELIEVABLE
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (12.27.11)
How can Israelis ever mention "never again", with this kind of infantile approach to life. Were does Ynet find people like Raphael Mimoun, are these luny liberals for real. He would have written the same rubbish ,would he have lived then, in 1938 about embracing Hitler. Because Hamas are todays Nazis and worse. So for the hell of it lets be pragmatic and dismantle the IDF and invite all our Islam Facists to move here, so we can all live in peace. For crying out loud, we are not living in Disneyland here, what is it going to take to stop to be so frikking naive, anotherHolocast?
4. Hamas is embracing nonviolence, civil rights, voting rights
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.27.11)
...in Palestine Israel.
5. Are You Kidding?
Jeffrey Grill ,   Phoenix, USA   (12.27.11)
If the author of this article truly believes what he wrote, he needs help - and a lot of it. I advise this writer to please read the 'Qur'an, Hadith and Muhammad's biography. Also, read the Hamas Charter and the Muslim Brotherhood Charter. It is beyond psychotic to believe that a pious, Muslim organization will ever change its stripes. The genocidal Jew hatred which is part of the Hamas DNA is immutable. It is time Israel crushed its enemies - that is compassion.
6. Good Morning HAMAS
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (12.27.11)
As bogus and boisterous as it was I personally never took HAMAS seriously . Its intentions and ambitions as written in its charter ( all of Palestine from the sea to the river ) have always been much beyond its limited and primitive means ! The domino theory in the Middle East and the Arab world is taking its toll albeit gradually . First ,Nasser of Egypt wanted- unsuccessfully-to wipe out Israel in 1967. Then Sadat ,despite his overall good performance in the 1973 Yom Kippur War , made an about-face and recognized Israel. Then it was the turn of the PLO in 1993 under Oslo Accords to drop "armed struggle " and recognize Israel . And it was immediately followed by Jordan in 1994 . And now we see HAMAS abandoning its impractical and unfeasible dream in favor of ultimate recognition of Israel . Perhaps HAMAS is waking up quite late but it is still much better than never at all . Yet all this simply supports my long-held belief that we, Arabs and Palestinians, should live and co-exist with Israel .
7. Who is this idiot?
Dan ,   Forest Hills   (12.27.11)
8. Another extreme leftist moron
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (12.27.11)
Hamas has not changed one iota, nor will they. The differences between Fatah and Hamas are just about zero. Both are terrorists with the declared intent of genocide.
9. Israel should adopt policy of refusing to talk to terrorists
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.27.11)
Before the Oslo Disaster, Israel was highly respected, by both friends and foes, as a gutsy little nation. In those days, Israel refused to talk to terrorists. Period. It is time to reinstate this most dignified and sane policy. Nothing good EVER comes from talking to terrorists. It's time to end fraud once and for all.
10. Is the author of the is article intentionally stupid or
Rachel ,   US   (12.27.11)
on drugs?
11. as the missiles keep flying.
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (12.27.11)
12. Excellent piece!
Jonathan ,   Duesseldorf, Germany   (12.27.11)
It is indeed about time for the Israeli government to embrace political realism in their policymaking, as their Palestinian counterparts seem to be doing. Unfortunately, the government's agenda has been long hijacked by idealistic minorities and special interests, which cannot but lead the country astray from the collective good of its citizens. If Hamas is indeed on its way to moderation, Israel should quickly seize the opportunity to engage it in a constructive negotiation.
13. A cup of poison they are
Cameron ,   USA   (12.27.11)
A touch more pragmatic, but their goal and very reason for existence remains forever set in granite.
14. Oh my goodness!!! This is the most uneducated pipe dream
JewishHeart ,   Israel   (12.27.11)
This piece is the most uneducated pipe dream I have ever read in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The funny part is he really tried to sound pragmatic and thoughtful. Its like saying, "There is an enlightening that is happening where the literacy rate is dissapearing and the third world is becoming more educated, and this is why now more than ever we should be that pigs can fly!"
15. Makes no difference! Since Israeli politics stay the same
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.27.11)
all the time(bovine in their stupidity), the so-called Palis will sooner or later "adopt" a stance that is a sure formula for loosing the battle... It is only logical, me thinks. Imagine a knife fight where the guy with knife (us) standst still while the other one (Pali) flaps around ...sooner or later he'll skewer himself (?) THAT must be the Big Secret of Israeli "Kontzeptzia" Ta-Ta...
16. Hamas really loves Israel and wants peace
Sam ,   Canada   (12.27.11)
The far-left is always looking underneath a microscope for some sign that they can interpret and promote that the Palestinians really want peace with Israel. Their next step is to try and convince the West that their delusions are true and to punish Israel for failing to adopt far-left fantasies.
17. #4, yeap thats why they held free elections in 2010
Danny   (12.27.11)
oh, wait a minute...
18. Its a prime example of Taqiya
Susya Bar Dror ,   IL   (12.27.11)
I have no reason to trust him. I might believe it in 10 or 20 years of real peace.
19. LEFTISTS are suicidal.
(12.27.11)
20. Hamas
Jonathan ,   London   (12.27.11)
Israel needs strong leaders to make strong decisions. The Jew suffers from a condition called "compassion" - it is this illness that has prevented the Jew from prevailing over its enemies. King David tzl should be the role model for all our leaders. Hamas must be destroyed.
21. so much garbage and
homer jones ,   nyc usa   (12.27.11)
only on 1 page.
22. And those missiles they fired yesterday?
Sam   (12.27.11)
Your scribbles are already out of date mister. Back to the sandbox with the other kindergarten kids for you.
23. #4 Benassi - embracing like you embraced the Injuns
Ploni ,   Jerusalem   (12.27.11)
Hams is embracing non-violence like you white people embraced the native Americans. As I recall, after you massacred most of the natives and put the rest on reservations, it was about 200 years before you allowed them to vote, no? Is that what you're embracing, Steve Benassi? What is the original real name of Minnesota anyway?
24. not only Hamas ....Fatah too is changing.
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.27.11)
just wait the REAL Palestinian spring..
25. Would you like to convince me?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.27.11)
Here's how. Repudiate that vile Hamas charter which calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination of the Jewish people (yes, I said "extermination" -- no loose talk of mere "expulsion"). Stop the missile firing from Gaza. I don't care which despicable and depraved group fires them, I just want them stopped. If Hamas cannot manage that, then Hamas is not in charge, and Israeli punishment will continue to be directed at Hamas, nominally -- actually, self-proclaimed -- in charge of Gaza. Live up to it, or die because of it. Easy. Leopards do not change their spots. Terrorists remain terrorists -- it is their entire raison d'etre. Show me something sincere about ending terrorist violence that I can believe. Good luck with that one. Otherwise -- forget about it. We know EXACTLY everything there is to know about Hamas, and it is all about hatred and violence. Teaching children to hate and to glorify suicide bombers. Hamas changing? Yeah, right. Did you think this Jew was born yesterday? I know what they are all about and peace has nothing to do with it. What a shame that everyone else seems to be a dupe.
26. To: The Idiot at No. 12
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.27.11)
You are quite the fool. Hamas' idea of "moderation" (assuming facts not quite in evidence) has to do with expulsion of the Jews rather than extermination of the Jews. Constructive negotiation with those bent on your destruction? Pray tell, how? HOW?
27. Israel must be careful...
moshe ,   Tivon. Israel   (12.27.11)
Israel must be careful... when ham changes its public tone in Arabic ...when ham removes literature from the schools in Gaza that incites against Israel ...when ham stops accumulating weaponry to fire into Israel ...when ham prosecutes those who fire missiles into Israel Then and ONLY then can Israel afford to review its defensive and military posture with regard to Gaza. moshe
28. Only hamas tactics are changing
BH ,   Iowa   (12.27.11)
Their charter hasn't.
29. @25: Insulting people is not the way to influnce people!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.27.11)
Israel is a democracy, or so Netanyahu told the world, and thus we are all entitled to our views. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows very well that the "status quo" cannot go on forever and that Israel is going to have to make concessions. Even Netanyahu said this to the UN and AIPAC. To me Hamas is terrorist organization that has usurped Gaza and Khaled Maashal is nothing but a murderer and the best place for him would be hanging from a gibbet in Kikar HaMedinah!
30. To: No. 29
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.27.11)
Exactly what did I say in my post at No. 25 that was insulting? And if the truth is "insulting," does that change the fact that it is the truth? Israel, by the way, does not have to make concessions. We won all six wars -- all of them initiated by the Arabs -- and we have successfully combatted seven decades of unrelenting Arab terror. What we need to do to salvage our identity as Jews is get rid of the Arabs, who are interlopers, have no business living in the Jewish state, and upon whom Israel wastes far too many precious resources already. If they cannot behave like human beings, send them to a zoo. Gaza comes to mind.
