1. brain drain
natanel ,   arad   (12.26.11)
I know a group of U.S. Doctors who have been trying to acquire their Medical License from the Health Department in Israel. Dr Amir Shanon refuses to issue non native born Israelis in a Professional manor. When people with PhD. and an MD is having problems getting their license back after having submitting their paper work 8+ times in the last year; and still have yet to get an answer! This and many other reasons is why people would like to come home but don't, just to much BS!
2. #1: You are absolutely correct. Something is rotten at MOH.
Israel   (12.26.11)
This particular Dr. has created a culture of intimidation, chaos, and incompetence in the name of protecting licensure integrity -- that ironically will ultimately diminish the quality of care in Israel.
3. Is there work for scientists in Israel?
Sasha ,   Bilbao, basque   (12.26.11)
No way israelĂ universities and research institutions can absorb a vast number of scientists. The time when scientists would clean the streets or sell sufganiot are well behind us. Why do they insist?
4. Is Israel still Israel?
Martin ,   Washington, US   (12.26.11)
That's the question. I doubt that brainy people who studied abroad are prepared to be spat at because of their clothings or to walk on different sidewalks depending on their sex.
5. Positive start
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.26.11)
It's good to see that Israel is starting to get serious about bringing back her best and brightest from abroad.
6. #4 - probably not - BUT...
valentina ,   israel   (12.26.11)
changes can be made, especially where needed. Israel is a great country because of people like this. They make us proud! We can only continue to be a great country and improve with such people, whether they are from israel or overseas and are considering coming here. Without them, Israel may very well not remain Israel, however with them, it could only get better.
7. Every country has its nuts and obscurantists
New Class Traitor ,   Tel Aviv and Dallas   (07.09.12)
There are some meshugene in Beit Shemesh and Meah Shearim, so what? (They're about as popular with the tax-paying population as locusts, ICYW.) The chances that your average scientist will ever even come within spitting distance of them are effectively zero, unless (s)he insists on "going slumming" in their neighborhoods on Shabbat.
