Nice effort on the part of these Ambassadors, but ultimately it is a waste of time. Israel, as a nation-state, will soon be out of the UN and out of existence; the territory will come most likely under Iranian rule, or perhaps under Turkish rule. Still, the language may have future value for historical researchers.

I actually have seen two examples of Hebrew-speaking diplomats here in Washington, who were not Jewish. One was a Finnish lady diplomat. The other was a former Ambassador to the US from Cyprus. Their Hebrew, as far as I could discern, was fluent. True, both had served in their respective embassies in Israel.

@Graczek: I believe the Egyptians, Romans, and Babylonians probably believed the same thing about the Jews.

Israel exists for the past 63 years whereas Poland was carved up between three empires and later on between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union and ceased to exist in those times as a nation state.
