1. I mostly agree with this article
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (12.27.11)
But, the traitors have name. It's not verybody in the IDF who is untruth, just our big fat Defense Minister and his friends. They are using the IDF for their small cheap purposes but everybody knows Barak won't get half a vote in the next elections and if Bibi dares bringing him to Lkud he will lose thousands of votes. We must make Barak feel what the people think about him evry single day!
2. Don’t call them settlers!!!! How can you be a settler on
Mark ,   Ohio   (12.27.11)
your own land? The arabs that invaded Israel are the settlers!
3. Idealism?
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.27.11)
These youths may very well be idealists and believe in what they have been taught - but what is it that they have been taught? That it is good to disobey the law of the land? That "paying back" to innocents for perceived wrongs ("Price Tag") is acceptable? That they can go out and stone other people for working the land that has been in their families for generations? That chopping down olive trees belonging to others is good? That just because they belong to a certain religious group they have the right to do whatever they please? Idealists, perhaps yes, but who set the ideals?
4. get out
mm ,   sao paulo, brasil   (12.27.11)
get out of samaria, just do it.
5. The best of the best
Michael Pielet ,   israel   (12.27.11)
The giborai Israel carry the entire country on their backs.
6. Settler youth
MC   (12.27.11)
This is a true and timley article. These people are the salt of the earth and should be recognized as such. These are the youth that will save the country from enemies from both within and without, and not those who sit impotently in the Kenesset vying with each other for positions of power which reflect their own egoistic needs rather the needs of the nation and the country. Thy have wise heads on their young shoulders and will go from strengh to strengh!
7. Wonderful?
Frankie ,   Tel Aviv   (12.27.11)
They are "wonderful" lunatics, messianic meschuggene. They wish to spread chaos in eternity - awaiting the illusory "geulah".
8. the logic of terrorists
courtney ,   usa   (12.27.11)
seriously, this is the logic we hear from terrorist sympathizers. why do we make them hate us? why does the IDF and the israeli public make the settler react violently? good one... also, the "youth of samaria" should not be israelis to begin with...
9. Fairy Stories
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.27.11)
I remember when I was about 4 or 5 I used to love being read fairy stories like this one
10. Good but in wrong place!!!!
Jimi ,   Palestine   (12.27.11)
I am Palestinian and if those guys are doing his inside their country then it would be wonderfull, BUT you are describing someone who is stealing others lands and space and by his act takes what does not belong to him and will never be.... So it's better to send them to build INSIDE Israel and not inside Palestine and then celebrate to the max
11. Thank you , YNet.....
who cares   (12.27.11)
You have great influence - this includes great responsability. My hope and wish is that you see both parts - for your and Israels sake.
12. The blind sincereity of this author makes me sad.
PZ   (12.27.11)
it is the insane naïveté of the true fanatic. The author really seems to believe himself -- really seems to think that our own eyes won't tell us, that they will unthrow rocks and unburn mosques. Try it yourself: Rename the article "in praise of Hizbullah youth" or "in praise of Klu Klux Klan youth" or "praise of Stalinist youth" and picture how identically a similarly brainwashed lunatic would attack all moderate critics. There of course have been other "youths," other "pure hearted" and "salt of the earth" defenders of the fatherland -- and other pogrom-filled nights of fear where the voices of moderation shrugged their shoulders and looked away. None of this is ok. None of this just business as usual. It needs to stop.
13. Youth settlers.
Alice ,   Montreal   (12.27.11)
For #4, Samaria belongs to the Jewish People. If your are not happy with the fact, too bad. #7, What are you doing with your time besides sitting in a coffe shop in Tel Aviv. You can learn so much from thes youth instead of calling them meshuggene.
14. They're thugs who give Israel a bad name
Steven A. ,   Bay Area, USA   (12.27.11)
15. B.S.
ur mom. ,   USA   (12.27.11)
we all know whats the truth.
16. reply#2,#4
daze ,   US   (12.27.11)
#2, arabs aren't settlers, they're squatters. #4-make "em get out...putz
17. This article needed to be written. I have
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (12.27.11)
more than a little familiarity with the Yishuveem east of the Green Line. The Jews who populate it are amongst the most patriotic in all of Israel, tough but kind Jews, Jews with a purpose. The percentage of Jews volunteering for combat units in the IDF, incidentally, is the highest in all Israel.
18. Judea/Samaria youth are the salt of the earth.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.28.11)
There should be a special place in the heart of every Israeli patriot for those who choose to build our 3,500 year old ancestral heartland of Judea and Samaria. They could easily choose to spend their time in Tel Aviv night clubs or do any one of 1,000 other things which do not benefit Israel in any meaningful way. Judea and Samaria youth are the salt of the earth.
19. Power to the patriots!
Steve ,   San Francisco   (12.27.11)
Hopefully they will take over the reins of power in the next election and drive out the cowards from the PM on down. Once that occurs I will certainly be eager to travel once again to Israel.
20. settler kids were crazy here in the states
Brad ,   Vt.   (12.27.11)
These settler kids were weird here in the states so what makes you think going to the volatile Middle East will do to them. Given the chance and right situation they'd make some good Israeli suicide bombers, I'd wager on this, wild un-G-gly HEATHENS.
21. These people love the land G-d gave the JEWS. They work it,
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.27.11)
they deserve it. On the other hand, barak and the not-supreme court want to give it to the enemy, so who do you think should have it?
22. Omnipotentialy Danger
Sigmund   (12.28.11)
The youth is deluded confident and as I'm the bolshevic revolution herd mentality.
23. go home to the USA and stop STEALING land
fed up   (12.28.11)
24. #20,#22
daze ,   US   (12.28.11)
The only thing weird is your posting. Do you read your stuff before submitting it? If your submission makes sense to you, keep a rag handy to wipe the drool off your chin. Then give the rag to #22. His post is reading none too clearly either
25. "Have your cake and eat it too."
solomon ,   bklyn   (12.28.11)
The author wants to have his cake and eat it too. It is wrong to attack the IDF yet these kids are so wonderful we shouldn't punish them when they attack the IDF. Huh?
26. Wondered why the focus on "Youth"
Oren   (12.28.11)
It is very interesting that over and over again the writer discusses the settler "youth". Why is it that these groups are mostly composed of young people? Have you ever wondered why? Because here, just like in every extremist movement, the people that are more easily manipulated (aka sheep) are exactly the youth. They are too naive and gullible to see what is happening around them. This is a dangerous game being played by irresponsible politicians. It has very little to do with the "salt of the earth". I reserve that title to the IDF cadets whose lives are being endangered by these political games.
27. I respect settler youth for
R ,   Israel   (12.28.11)
being willing to make sacrefices for their beliefs. However, it can just as easily be said that young extreme leftists are a wonderful, idealistic group of people. They too are a minority who stand up for what they believe in, against a government whom they feel has betrayed them. But if they -- leftists, settlers, anyone -- attack our soldiers (youths whose ideologies cause them to sacrefice 2-3 years of their lives for the democratic state of Israel) I will no longer respect them.
28. They are the true maccabbees of today fighting a
hippocrates ,   earth   (12.28.11)
corrupt leadership that kills them by deadly policy, and destroys their home too...
29. Settler Youth
Ed Codish ,   Pardessiya, Israel   (12.28.11)
Pinchas Michaeli misses the main point. Policy is set by the government, not by an excited group of youth. It simply cannot matter how dedicated, patriotic, or idealistic they are. If they oppose government decisions by force, counter force absolutely must be used against them.
30. #29 which government?
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (12.28.11)
Policy is set by the government, but which government? Do you mean a corrupt cabal of self-appointed oligarchs who use their money to seize and maintain power from what they call the unenlightened slave-class? Or do you agree with a democratic government, "...that government of the people, by the people, for the people..."?
