1. the haredi will destroy Israel before iran does
david ,   uk   (12.27.11)
2. Thin Line
emanon ,   USA   (12.27.11)
There is a thin line between taliban oppression and harediem oppression. That line is getting thinner. My suggestion: if these harediem are so upset, don't look. If the harediem take this disgust of the female form to the ultimate conclusion, they will become an extinct species and we won't have to worry about them any more. Problem solved through natural selection.
3. one basket
citizen ,   israel   (12.27.11)
In what basket to leave Abutbul declarations?
4. Have them sit in the back of the bus
Ezra ,   sandiego bus company   (12.27.11)
Got this idea from a comment on the 100k march for equal rights: Let the Harediem group at the back of the bus. Women would probably prefer sitting in the front anyway. At least then the men can group together and the woman can enjoy feeling like they don't have to walk far from the door. Attacking the Harediem with the following only incites more antisocial behavior. This sentence: "there is no pardon for those who behave provocatively. Rioters should be dealt with a firm hand" uses the same negative attitude as "there is no pardon for those who sit next men on the bus. Violators should be dealt with a firm hand."
5. Racist and Goverment help
Deena ,   Israel   (12.27.11)
I suggest that those people identified on camera, should be removed from any goverment help. This way they would probably think twice before being racist and second they will probaly go to work instead of harrasing others.
6. do they know how stupid they look?
Charles ,   U.S.   (12.27.11)
Just curious, but do these guys have jobs? Do they work and contribute to society? Who has time to stand around on the street and watch little girls walk to school?
7. 65% of Haredi males do not work
Charles ,   U.S.   (12.27.11)
There's your problem right there. They are living off of the tax dollars of the rest of the hardworking Israelis, and they are harrassing those same people who are supporting their free ride. Interesting.
8. Beit Shemesh/Haredim
Rochel ,   Los Angeles USA   (12.27.11)
If you live in the State of Israel, you must follow the laws of the State of Israel. I live in the United States and I respect the law and abide by the law. Spitting on a little seven year old girl is child abuse. Rioting is illegal and dangerous - for everyone. It shows a lack of control and intelligence. There are many Haredim who are good, law-abiding citizens and these few who break the law can and should pay for their actions.
9. If You Have Legs, Use Them
Yossi ,   Haifa, Israel   (12.27.11)
I don't understand why they can't just you know, cross the street, sit elsewhere on the bus, etc. They are the ones who have the issue, why should everyone else accommodate them, especially on a religious (dubious) matter? For people that claim to be so Jewish, it's interesting they fail on the basics like the ten commandments - love thy neighbor for instance. To be a Jew is to strive to be a good person on Earth, today, now, every day. Clearly they are not Jews and since many don't believe in the state of Israel either, they should just leave.
10. #7 Charles is right
Rachel ,   US   (12.27.11)
If they had a job, they wouldn't have time for all this nonsense.
11. Haredi justice
Jim Jensen ,   Grants Pass, Oregon   (12.27.11)
I was shocked to learn of the discrimination taking place in Israel. Or at least in parts of Israel. I'm reminded of fanatic Islamic Sharia law. These men claim to be men of God? Who's God? Shame on them.
12. They have chosen to be in that basket
R ,   Israel   (12.27.11)
How can we not put them in one basket? If there are any who do not agree with the "minority" causing all the trouble, let them speak up. If not, they'd best get comfortable in that basket. And if they are in that basket, they'd best stop coming to our mall collecting money cause I'm not giving anymore.
13. Overdue: Arrests and Prison time
Yaakov ,   TA   (12.27.11)
"If you do the crime, you pay the time". It's long overdue especially since many of these thugs are juvenile delinquents masquarading asTorah students -centuries of learning being perverted by teenage criminals and their adult co-conspirators...
14. No violence- No problem
Yossi   (12.27.11)
If the haredi community didn't reply to all of this with violence there would be no problem at all. Sure they would protest and they would put there extremist laws on to their own community, but they wouldn't bother us. Yet the moment they decide to get violent and to attack seven year old girls for going to school, then no other way is left but to lock them up and jail the violent ones.
15. Sectarians are no religious zealots
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (12.27.11)
Need to define a person more concerned with his uniform and appearance than what is in his heart A persom who learns Torah but does not live by its values Time to call a spade a spade Babylonians preferred eupheumism but the situation here is different. Rav Kook would say in the state of Israel , Torah is alive again, and rabbonim can call these people by what they really are
16. Where has he been?
Haim R.   (12.27.11)
17. Firm hand??
Haim R. ,   Raanana, Israel   (12.27.11)
Where has this firm hand against rioters been for the past 5 months?? The harassment of students from the Orot school has been going on since August with no visible firm hand from the city. This man can not be trusted in the control of Haredi violence in Beyt Shemesh.
18. Forget the cameras, get the police out
Jacob Blues ,   New York City, USA   (12.28.11)
of the station houses and on to the streets. Some Israeli cops need to be walking the beat in Beit Shemesh. Seven-year old girls should not have to walk to and from school in fear by what's little more than a street gang wearing their own 'colors'. Grown ups who believe that it is acceptable to attack children are the ones who should be cowering in fear. Not the other way around.
19. #9, Agreed, kick them out but not to America.
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.28.11)
They are not wanted here, there is no room for their views here.
20. Spits on Little Girl
me ,   Israel   (12.28.11)
How devastating for that little girl to have a mob of monsters spit on her. Israel I am afraid to say you are loosing it!
21. Abutbul is a two-faced hypocrite
Orot parent ,   Bet Shemesh   (12.28.11)
He is the one who changed the locks in the school this September to prevent it from opening. He is the one who is building 30,000 housing units to be given to Haredim only. He is the one who is offering apartments for 600,000 NIS for Haredim only. He is right about the sname part - shame on him!!
22. If they ever did that too my little girl
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (12.28.11)
They will never ever do it again. The government of Israel must make it a hate crime backed by a severe prison sentence that has teeth for any attack against women. The haredi should be advised that Israel is a free and open democracy and that women and men are allowed to dress as they please. This is not Iran or Saudi Arabia.
23. firm hand
colin   (12.28.11)
The mayor of beitshemesh with his lies He was one of the first set of rioters !!!! He is for the segregation of woman and is now afraid he will loose his seat in the elections hence the untruths falsehoods Get ris of this dati mayor/
24. What I'm wondering is:
Az   (12.28.11)
Where in the Torah does it say that you are not to tolerate *other* peoples' children / women who aren't your wives "not dressing modestly enough?" And a slew of other impositions. And even if you don't tolerate it, where does it say you are to spit on or otherwise assault or demean them? Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.
